Alan Pardew has made six changes from the side that drew 0-0 at Aston Villa on Saturday afternoon.
As expected Mehdi Abeid, Gabby Obertan and Rolando Aarons get starts – and Siem de Jong makes his first start in a competitive game for Newcastle United.
Newcastle will again play in a 4-2-3-1 formation with Riviere up front, with strikers Ayoze Perez and Facundo Ferreyra on the bench, and they could see some action tonight.
Sissoko and Abeid with be the two central midfielders, with a threesome of Obertan, de Jong and Aarons in front of them.
Steven Taylor comes in for Mike Williamson to partner Coloccini in central defense, and we need Steven to have a good steady game tonight – it’s an opportunity for the Whitley Bay lad to prove he can still do a job for his home town club.
This is quite a strong side that Pardew has put out tonight, and the bench is also strong in case Pardew needs to make some changes in the second half – with Anita, Cabella and Gouffran all available.
Newcastle: (4-2-3-1): Tim Krul; Daryl Janmaat, Steven Taylor, Fabricio Coloccini (c), Massadio Haidara; Moussa Sissoko, Mehdi Abeid; Gabriel Obertan, Siem de Jong, Rolando Aarons; Emmanuel Riviere
Substitutes: Rob Elliot, Paul Dummett, Vurnon Anita, Remy Cabella, Yoan Gouffran, Ayoze Perez, Facundo Ferreyra
We really need to get the win tonight – anything else would be a disaster.

Comment #81Pardew must be desperate for Obertron to possibly come good, tonight really must be the last chance saloon for him tonight, if he runs around aimlessly again tonight against a team possibly on par with Wellington Pheonix then we should try and give him away with a pay off and let Aaarons have his place on the bench.

i’ve no reason to not believe what your saying as i’m sure you wouldnt call him if it wasnt justified i must just obv be watching different games from you !
saying that we had people on here praising the hell outa abied 2 seasons ago and i couldnt see that also lol.

Comment #90Why did Pardew have to come out and say that the PL is priority, why not give us a bit of hope that we are trying to win one, they, Pardew, now he’s admitted he’s at board level, have no problem about lying about our ability to compete, our standing in the spending table, our pursuit of players and season ticket sales, why do they insist on being truthful when damping down our expectations.

Comment #91Mike Williamson has been covering Coloshitty’s deficiencies for far too long. No way would willo have allowed Aguero walk through him against City. He deserves a rest. Lets see how COloshitty fares without Willo to bail him out in the next few games

If you’ve watched him in the reserves then fairplay to you, but the majority on here including me haven’t and have only seen a player who featured a lot in that diasastrous EL season and was one of the few players to come out of it with plaudits, he has since seemingly disappeared and nobody really knows why, yet here you are as you are every transfer window with itk knowledge of why he’s not playing.
