Another Newcastle Player Gets England Call-Up

Rolando Aarons was yesterday called up by England’s Under-20s squad for their friendly against Romania in Telford on Friday, September 5th, and that was the first time Rolando has been selected for any England squad.

And of course Jack Colback was called up for the full England team yesterday by manager Roy Hodgson – and that was also the first time Jack has been called up by any England team in his career.

18-year-old Aarons was born in Jamaica, and he signed his first professional contract at Newcastle last March, and he has come on a ton over the summer, and the lad is already pressing for a first team place at Newcastle, and that hasn’t gone unnoticed by the England Youth selectors.

And the good news is that the youngster is available for tomorrow’s game,  after recovering from the knock he picked up at Gillingham on Tuesday night.

Pardew talked about Rolando’s call-up for the England U20 squad:

“I think that’s less of a surprise at that level,” “He’s really done well in pre-season, and he is a player that is so quick he is going to be very dangerous for the opposition

“He’s a player that will feature for us in the first team this year.”  “I assume knowing how confident the boy is that he’ll be setting his sights on England,”

“We have three very good English players in Arma (Adam Armstrong), Freddie Woodman and Rolando, who has just burst on the scene,”

“That’s really great for us, because they are three massive positions in the Premier League – a goalkeeper, a number 10  and a wide player.”

“They are like gold dust, so we are looking after them and making sure they do it right.”

Adam and Freddie were included in the 15 player England U18 squad to play Holland, at Bury’s JD Stadium next Friday, 5th September.

They both starred for England in Malta in May, when England won the European U17 Championship by beating Holland on penalties in the final.

We have quite a few English players in and around the first team these days, and that’s good.

Holtby wants first team football and would be willing to leave spuds apparently

Kagawa is reportedly on his way back to BD for £8m

I’d take both of these players as they’ve never had a fair crack at their current clubs but have lots of potential imo

    If only

Nit sure, possibly Anita then drop sissoko in next to colback and push Holtby further forward but it’d depend on what system we played!

    I wouldn’t mind holtby
he has a tendency to be lazy from accounts on here I cant say I have witnessed it
spurs don’t have a lot invested in him and he would be a great for the bench and starter and cheap I would think

but with abied looking like he might get his chance I would rather stick with him and try him till xmas if holtby hasn’t moved or is out on loan maybe move for him then
