Clubs Now Moving In For Hatem Ben Arfa

After today’s game at home to Crystal Palace , there will be some frantic buying and selling by Newcastle in the last two days of the transfer window – well to put it more accurately – we hope there will be some frantic buying and selling by Newcastle,  so we get a couple of good players in and unload some of our fringe players.

Ben Arfa in action for Newcastle last season

Unfortunately, one of those fringe players now is Hatem Ben Arfa, and there has been news over the last day or two that Turkish side  Besiktas are keen to complete a deal to sign Ben Arfa.

Newcastle would like the deal to be a permanent one, since Ben Arfa is in the last year of his five year contract, and it will not be renewed next year, so at least the club gets some money for him this summer.

On the other hand, there is news that the French International will resist a permanent move away from Newcastle,  but maybe could be tempted into a season long loan deal, so he could still become a free agent next summer.

And news today that Lee Clark at Birmingham City is also interested in signing the player – probably on a loan deal, but we don’t think the Frenchman will want to play in England’s second division, that would be a big step down for him.

There will probably be other clubs coming in for him before Tuesday rolls around, but we’d like him to stay on at Newcastle, and then we would be hopeful that Alan Pardew would  bring him back into the first team squad, in from the cold.

However, as things stand at the moment, that seems very unlikely to happen.

We’ll stay tuned on the events over the next few days.

In four years at Newcastle, Ben Arfa has played 86 games for Newcastle with 14 goals and 18 assists.

Have we ever signed anyone on transfer deadline day under Ashley?
Maybe they are hoping Street or Good will get in to the squad so we wont need a CB, if that’s the case we’re doomed I tell you, DOOMED!!
    Anyhoo rant over.

    Team for today

    Janmaat Colo Williamson Haidara

    Anita Collback

    Goofy De Jong Cabella

Chose Anita over Sissoko, Sissoko does a lot of running with no end product.

Try Perez first then take on Riviere half way through 2nd half if it’s not working or give Ferreya a shot.

Shame to see Benny leave but the writing has been on the wall since the end of last season, so long son thanks for the memories, Blackburn, Bolton, Everton…

Man Citeh have told Richard, Sinclair, Guidetti & Nastasic all to find a new club by Monday…I’d personally take them all!! How much would it take for a deal do you think? Perhaps buy two, take two on loan?! They’ve all got potential given game time, and would provide greater depth to the current squad

Realistically, I think we`d only go for Richards but if that Helen Flannigan was guaranteed to go out drinking in Toon I`d take Sinclair aswell! 😛

Not bad on Anita in the 4-2-3-1! Think he has use in a 5-3-2/3-5-2 as he covers bombing on full backs really well!
Colback and Sissoko in the middle for me gives us a bit more drive on!
I’d actually go 4-4-2 against Palace with a system that could push into a 4-3-3! De jong played centre mid alot for ajax! Palace will pack the defense and manu won’t get a look in if he plays up top alone!
    I’d go
    Janmaat willo colo Haidara
    sissoko SDJ Colback Cabella
    Ayoza Riviera
With cabella pushing up to make a 4-3-3 if the game calls for it£

Never gonna happen though pal, MYM on his way out and Pardew does not posses the tactical acumen or nous to actually play that formation.

He struggles with 442 and was just plain lucky with 433.

@ToonRich- actually think Nastasic is the best bet out of all of those! No doubt he’ll go to Italy but think he’ll mature into a world class centreback! Richards would also be an upgrade on what we have!
Got a few contacts with Stoke and no1 was impressed with guidetti there last season! Think he might have profited from playing in a team that create an awful lot of chances in a league where defenders are shocking at feyenoord

I must say I’m very sad to see Hatem go, he’s been my favourite player over the last couple of years. I know he can be a bit of a marmite character and I think my reasons for liking him so much are a bit personal. The main one being he scored the best goal that I’ve ever seen against Bolton in 2012 when he ran by the whole team.
I even traveled down from my home, near Glasgow, for the meet and greet that he was going to do in The Back Page, only to find out that it was cancelled.
I hope that he at least goes to a non English club so that he can’t play against us. It really annoys me that Pardew is just ignoring him as I feel that he could’ve been a true Toon legend, such a shame.

I think a negative step to sell Ben Arfa. How can we lose a gifted and quality player, regardless of temperament because of the ineptitude and personal intransigence of Pardew. It is obvious we need a centre back so why not go for the Celtic player Van Djik? A deal for Micah Richards would be an idea? Fantasy of course because neither Pardew or Ashley are sincere about NUFC.
