Alan Pardew has named both Siem de Jong and Massadio Haidara in the starting eleven against Crystal Palace this afternoon at St. James’ Park.
No it’s not Charlton Athletic – must be that Alzheimer’s creeping in (again). 🙁
And it looks like Moussa Sissoko will play in central midfield today alongside Jack Colback, and that’s the team we thought would start today – but we had young Rolando Aarons starting in place of Yoan Gouffran.
Newcastle will again play in their familiar 4-2-3-1 formation with Riviere up front, and de Jong playing in the number 10 position.
Rolando Aarons and Ayoze Perez are both on the bench and could see some action this afternoon, where our major hurdle will be to score some goals against a weak-looking Palace team, who have lost both their league games so far, and are playing their first game under new manager Neil Warnock.
Newcastle: (4-2-3-1): Tim Krul; Daryl Janmaat, Mike Williamson, Fabricio Coloccini (c), Massadio Haidara; Moussa Sissoko, Jack Colback; Remy Cabella, Siem de Jong, Yoan Gouffran; Emmanuel Riviere
Substitutes: Rob Elliot, Paul Dummett, Steven Taylor, Vurnon Anita, Gabriel Obertan, Rolando Aarons, Ayoze Perez
Referee: Mike Jones (Cheshire)
Newcastle need a win this afternoon and in our poll 70% of fans think we’ll win this game – so it will be disappointment if we don’t do that.

Comment #162far too many people blaming collo on here. GUYS THIS IS ALL DOWN TO DEFENSIVE ORGANISATION AND TACTICS, OUR PLAYERS PANIC AND BACK OFF EVERY TIME THE OPPOSITION ATTACK. PARDEW SORT IT OUT.
collo is still a good defender but this is simply down to pardew’s organisation and game plan

Hard to figure how a side like Palace can score such a goal when we are unable to do it.
A real team goal.

i agree mate, palace look so much more organised, they seem to know how to exploit space and look so much more dangerous.
I also think theres a lack of belief from players like haidara, cabella, sissoko and riviere, they don’t seem to be able to take on players even though they are so much more quicker than them. They need to believe that they can and have the confidence to but this season they just don’t seem to have it
