Newcastle Target Asks To Leave Celtic

There are reports today that will alert Newcastle United, and the news north of the border is that Celtic defender Virgil van Dijk has asked to leave Celtic, and by what we witnessed of the Newcastle defense this afternoon, in the 3-3 draw with Crystal Palace, we certainly need defensive reinforcements brought in before Tuesday, otherwise we could struggle a bit this season.

Virgil-van-Dijk

Virgil van Dijk – asks for move?

Virgil van Dijk was a target of Newcastle’s before he signed on at Celtic for just £2.6M last summer from Dutch club Groningen.

Whenever a good player goes to Celtic he automatically gets Champions League football – well at least the qualifying rounds of the competition – but he also will look south to the Premier League – the most popular sports league in the world, with the games shown live around the world – and it’s got to be an attraction.

Celtic were also knocked out of the Champions League last week when they lost 2-1 on aggregate to Slovenian club Maribor, and that was  after they got through the previous qualifying round after being beaten 6-1 by Polish club Legia Warsaw.

Legia fielded an ineligible player in the final few minutes of the second leg, and the tie was awarded to Celtic.

Van Dijk is said to be valued at around £8M and Newcastle can afford that – especially when Mike Ashley saw what we would call a  disturbing performance from Newcastle this afternoon, when we leaked too many goals against an average side, and had difficulty scoring at the other end, after having so much of the possession.

Since joining Celtic,  van Dijk has been impressive in central defense for the Scottish giants. and he played  55 games with 7 goals in Scotland.

We hope this news is accurate and that Newcastle move in for the 23 year-old quickly – we need him.

Fibre glass and costa coffee are giving everton nightmares, yet the same two couldnt seem to help spain in the wc. Del bosque, as good as he was in the past, did not know how to use his younger players

“I would like to add something to a club like Brendan Rodgers did at Liverpool. I see a perspective at Tottenham Hotspur, just as Liverpool and Newcastle United sometimes are, they are sleeping giants.” – Frank De Boer

If that isn’t a hint at an ‘I’m available’ then I don’t know what is.

Dave, yep. Hence me posting it again 😉

For those not familiar with De Boer’s early managerial achievements…

    ——–

Four Eredivisie titles in a row

As Ajax boss, Frank de Boer took over from Martin Jol in December 2010. In his debut match as manager, de Godenzonen were off to a flying start, as they managed to beat AC Milan 2-0 in a Champions League group match.

After that, De Boer managed to turn an ailing Ajax side around. When the 2010/2011 season came to an end, the Amsterdam-based outfit had won its first Eredivisie title in seven years – a notoriously bad spell for Ajax’s standards.

The year after, Ajax won the title again, and again the year after that. Last weekend, De Boer and his players made it four-in-a-row, something Ajax had never managed to do before.

After turning around Ajax’s negative record to a positive one , De Boer is now a fan favourite in Amsterdam, his popularity higher than that of any of the players.

why didn’t he come when hughton was sacked?
why was it pardew who came?
what is the chances of manure keeping LVG all season?
if he is sacked which team would be first choice united or newcastle?

Sounds like a shocking effort. If pardew cant get us winning in the next 7-8 games he has to go. I have asked people to stop being ridiclous about pardew, and to be fair. 7-8 games is fair. Problem is ashley could choose anyone, literally anyone.

Manure got a draw, but i agree with what you are getting at up to a point.
However, we do not support any of those teams, we are concerned about nufc, and while i do not agree about pardew being totally inept, if he can’t get these players to attack more and get goals, especially with between 60 and 65 percent posession, then he needs to look at himself.

He keeps using goofy as a winger. Its not working. Get him as a wide forward or evem cf in a front 3, or bench him. Socks as a cm isnt working either. Bench him or play a midfeild 3 and take some pressure off. Its not a massive change. Why is he still scared to attack

MA could well be testing AP after last season he should have been sacked but came out with all the excuses about players. So MA spent the money and got him the players so if he can’t do it by by alan.

Hatem is determined to stay, yet Ba and Cabaye were determined to leave… Hatem banished, the other two play at the drop of a hat.

Meanwhile, our poor football continues and the magic man is nowhere near the first team…

    Pardew out.

Now we play with 1 striker on his own. Pathetic and stupid.

Last season I pointed out that when there was a long injury stoppage the opposing manager – I forget, who – spent the time with his players crowded around him, cajoling and encouraging them and making it clear what he wanted. Meanwhile Pardew did nothing.
Today the same thing. In the long second half delay Warnock had most of the players around him, coaching them.
And Pardew? Nothing until he eventually walked up behind Sissoko and said something briefly.
In contrast to the behaviour of teams managed by Mourinho, MON, Martinez or a wealth of other managers I cannot recall any occasion over the last couple of seasons when the players have demonstrated even a shred of respect, affection or gratitude towards their manager.
Indeed I strongly suspect that many of them hate his guts.

i did say in a post earlier myself that i will be absolute furious with pardew if aarons is not put into the starting 11 next game.

i was annoyed he dropped dummet today really.
dummett might be rubbish going forward but i don’t give a sh1t about that, the thing i want from full backs is good defence work same as i want from them CBs.

finally i want him to revert back to a 4-4-2 formation, people say it’s a dinosaur formation but pellegrini is a great manager and he plays it, basically it’s just the anti pardew brigade.

that is why we had the great run of 10 unbeaten games, we had fullbacks defending rather than crossing, we had wingers crossing rather than attempting to score and the forwards were controling the ball in the box and knocking it to the other one to score rather than being left alone.

i’ve been annoyed since he stopped playing 4-4-2.

Laurent hba is not a magic man – you are badly misguided. Today wasnt good enough but hba isnt the answer. As i have said before sissoko is not smart enough to play in the middle. Pardew has 7 games to my mind , but god only knows who ashley could choose

Not seen much of Van Dijk but John Anderson on Total Sport was saying last night he takes complete liberties for Celtic and we all know that if you do that in the Prem you get punished almost everytime.

    Is there nobody better?

He’s Jean-Alain Boumsong mk2 from most reliable accounts? Admittedly I have no idea though.

If we’re going to spend£5-8million on a defender I’d want a tried and tested Prem centre back.

Not yet another new kid on the block who goes into anaphylactic shock when they play in the Prem!
