Newcastle have played quite well in the first three games of the season, and in each game we have shown decent control of those games, especially in the second half, but we just haven’t scored enough goals and have one win, one defeat and one draw so far this season.
Alan Pardew – mm
But that could have been a better record if we could have scored more goals, especially after two clean sheets in a row.
We are hoping we can score some goals today against Crystal Palace, and if we can do that we should have a good chance of getting our first league win of this campaign.
Manager Alan Pardew seems happy enough the way the side has controlled games so far this season:
“We have shown tremendous control of all three games.” “Aston Villa packed their defense, as did Gillingham, so we had to try and find a way which we haven’t yet.”
“Against Manchester City we had great control against the Champions, as they proved against Liverpool they are a very very unbelievably strong team.”
“So I have been really pleased with our control of games and now just really we need to finalize that last third action.” “Get some real quality and get ourselves some goals, hopefully.”
Today is a good opportunity for Newcastle to show how we can win games at St. James’ Park this season, against teams who could be fighting relegation.
It’s a good test today to see if we can keep controlling games, but also rifle in some goals, and in the first three games we haven’t had a Newcastle player score a goal yet.
Hopefully that will be rectified today.

Comment #2Which does anyone think we need more, Center forward or a Center half as I can`t see us bringing in both, think I`m guilty of wishful thing hoping for one of em!

Comment #3Giving Manu some support rather than have him alone 40 yards ahead of the midfield might have helped against a packed defence Alan….
I fear pardews plan A, B and C all just rely on Siem De Jong somehow linking midfield to attack and scoring the odd loose ball and belter!
If SDJ gets injured its the second half of last season all over again for us!

Comment #4Won’t bring in a centre back or a striker unless we move someone out, either be mapou or hba, then we may possibly bring in someone else .. Pardew has already said that his roster is full and in this sense I feel sorry for him, Ashley has spent fairly well this year but still never put any of his own money in yet the debt we owe him never seems to go down even with all the free advertising… Would love it if he decided rangers was his best option

It`s the shape of CM that I honestly think is the root of all our problems.
I think we use them only as a route for passes inside to enable us to progress up the wings, they all offer only token protection to the CH`s and how often do they press the final third with any passes in to the channels?

This is alan’s plan mate (talking about Manu)
“I think this game (against Palace) will be difficult for him because it’ll be the same(a packed defence like villa and Gillingham) I think it’ll be a penalty, a set play or maybe a shot from the edge of the area or a ricochet where we hopefully score.”
That’s the masterplan….oh dear!

Comment #10As for helping Manu out up top….never gonna happen unless we change the system and style of play, 4-3-3 attacking not 4-2-3-1 defensively which is basically a 4-5-1 with the 5 super deep relying on sissoko and the other winger to push us upfield, what tactics alan your a genius

Comment #14Alan Pardew on Crystal Palace, ”They have great leadership as in the board”, this is the same people who managed to alienate a guy who preformed miracles by keeping them up and installed a feel good factor at the place and replaced him with the least inspiring of the old dinosaur brigade, Alan Pardew is really an oracle on all things football.

Comment #15Colin will park buses everywhere he goes and come away without any points a majority of the time, lets see how many times he loses this season with a ricochet or a solitary penalty.

What does Warnock parking the bus have to do with anything? It will make things harder, but a good manager would be able to devise a strategy and a plan to get past that. That is his job. If he can’t work out how to break teams down this is going to be an awful season, as I imagine most teams will park the bus, and hope for a break.
Certainly at least half of the Prem sides would be happy to come here and leave with a point.

You mean like us? Hoping to nick a goal on the break then defend for our lives? This tactic is ok to a point but NOT EVERY SINGLE FCUKING GAME! Even the most ardent of pardulites must be able to admit that surely? That’s all we do and how parsnip can say other teams pack their defence and midfield is most definitely the pot calling the kettle as highlighted by our ineffective form up top due to Manu being on his own with little support
Might I suggest you watch the games instead of listening to how parsnip says we play
Prime example….arsenal away 3-0 he said we played well and offered a “fret” yet to all and sundry we offered fcukall and played shite, I’m not saying we expect to win but at least have some sort “of go” but to then lie about it afterwards is pathetic and YOU believe the shit!

This is dreadful, and exactly the norm for Pardross. Defend a hope for a luck goal or flash of individual skill.
What dead brain hasn’t realised is that due to not committing too many bodies forward, he’s making it a lot easier for their players to contain our attack. Players don’t need to think about being caught out of position as much.
He truly is a prat.
Pardew Out.

Idiots? That’s a bit rich.
You said a couple weeks ago you’ve followed the toon since you wa 14 and road ya bike up the coast rd to SJP.
Well the coast road is no where near Benwell so you must have road down felling bypass through the tunnel then back up the coast rd.
Obviously your sense of direction is a good as your football knowledge or your assessment of fellow fans.
