Newcastle have only two days left in the transfer window and they need to find clubs for at least four players – either on loan or in a permanent move.
Ben Arfa – when he was flying at Newcastle
Here are the players who need to be moved out and why:
- Hatem Ben Arfa – has fallen out with Alan Pardew but was at the game yesterday and was seen to celebrate when Newcastle equalized through Rolando Aarons with 15 minutes to go. It seems like Ben Arfa will resist joining another club permanently until he becomes a free agent next summer, although he could take a loan move for this season. News today that he has turned down Turkish club Besiktas, and Birmingham have no chance of taking this player on loan for the season. Dream on Lee Clark. Ben Arfa has played 86 games for the Magpies with 14 goals and 18 assists, and he may think he can stay at Newcastle longer than Alan Pardew, who will be under pressure if Newcastle don’t start winning some games soon.
- Jonas Gutierrez – reports are that he has a clause in his contract which says that once he plays a certain number of games for the club (probably 200) Newcastle have to offer him a new contract which is probably why he played only two games last season. The Argentine International had a loan move to Norwich in January which didn’t work out too well – and he is currently in Argentina keeping fit with a personal trainer. Jonas played 194 games with 11 goals for Newcastle and was a popular player – and he could probably do as well or better than other players currently at Newcastle.
- Shane Ferguson – the Irish International has fallen way down the pecking order at Newcastle, and he didn’t have a good loan spell at Birmingham City last season, and this year he even found it hard to make the bench for the Championship team who avoided relegation on the last day of the season. Lee Clark’s team scored two late goals which saved them from relegation. Here’s another example of a youngster who showed lots of promise earlier in his career, but for some reason Newcastle haven’t been able to bring him through to the first team. Shane played 32 times for the first team.
- Haris Vuckic – this lad was said to be a great player in the making when we signed him in January of 2009, but mainly because of a number injuries he is just not coming through. Haris had a loan spell at Rotherham for the second half of last season, but had difficulty making the starting line-up. Alan Pardew played him during this pre-season, but there seems no way this player will get many games for Newcastle this season, and he could be loaned out for the season, since he still has two years left on his contract. Haris played 17 times with one goal for Newcastle.
Are there other Newcastle players that need to be moved on – maybe Sammy Ameobi?
