Newcastle Move In For Top New Center-Back Target

There is news coming through that Newcastle United are trying to arrange a season long loan deal for Manchester City’s Matija Nastasic, and if that news is correct –  it could be a really good loan signing for the Magpies.

Matija Nastasic – 21 year-old Man City center-back

The 21-year-old Serbian International defender is finding it hard to get a game at City this season,  after he played 50 times for City in the previous two seasons, and a loan move is reported to be on the cards.

It would be even better if Newcastle could make the move permanent, but we’re not sure just how much the Serbian would cost.

The report is coming in from the BBC that Newcastle are interested in taking Nastasic, but he is also supposed to be a target for both Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.

Nastasic signed a five-year contract with Manchester City in the summer of 2012, and he was part of an exchange deal with Stefan Savic going the other way to Fiorentina.

At only 19, the former Partizan and Fiorentina defender had a very good start to his City career playing 30 games in his first season,  and in May 2013 he was named Manchester City’s Young Player of the Season, but he had less playing time last season under new manager Manuel Pellegrini.

Manuel brought in 33 year-old Argentine International center-back Martin Demichelis this time last year, and the experienced former Bayern Munich center-back played 32 times for City last season, and basically replaced young Nastasic.

Nastasic would be a great loan signing for Newcastle – if we can get him in today.

What do you think?

    yorkshire_magpie, from last thread.

It really is insane! I get that Colo and MYM together is a bit light, but Pardew should have used MYM last season with Williamson. Colo is NOT the future.

I haven’t seen this much abuse of a squad since Gullit was here. That’s the level Pardew is at.

First team football with us but needs to be a loan with an option to buy at the end if we can get him.
Van Dijk too & a striker would be amazing but unlikely

Colo has been our best CB so far this season – trouble is that he’s having to cover Dummett or Haidara and Janmatt, Willo looks so uncomfortable on the ball I think I could do better

I feel sick we are letting go of our best defender in MYM to Roma, while bloody Steven Taylor who is one of the worst defenders I’ve ever seen play for us is still here!!

Nastasic should have been our first target not a desperate last day one. Ticks all boxes, young, experienced, pacy and good on the ball for a CB.
Another really shrewd buy if he comes. Now if we could just find a manager.

I promise to put 100% effort in every game and hoof the ball as hard as I can

I have to say that if MYM has gone, and no more are bought in then this window can only be classed as poor. We needed a top centre forward and a top centre half to have improved the squad. The players who have come in are okay, but they don’t really push us forward.

I don’t like Pardew, and think someone else could do a far better job with the tools provided, so whilst Pardew might put the noose around his neck, Ashley has tied the knot for him. Ridiculous state of affairs having spent so little when we all know that we will announce a profit when the figures come out.

We are 5hit in defence and we let M’biwa go, that’s a genius transfer idea if I’ve ever heard one. So in Jan because we can’t score are we going to sell Cisse and Rivierre ?

I’m really disappointed in this window to be honest. We all knew a CB and CF where a must and we’ve brought more of what we already have into the club with the only player that’s a specialist being Janmatt.

I suppose we’re better keeping Saylor and Willo as there’s a good chance we’ll need them next year when were relegated.

Mbiwa is not even close to being good enough for us. Too small, too lightweight and doesn’t like the physicality of the premier league. This is a great deal if we can find him another club and bring in a replacement.

We are keeping Saylor and Willo as nobody wants them We were never going to end this window with 5 first team centre halves, and the only one that was in demand is MYM.

IF we bring in a top centre half to replace him then I don’t have too much of a problem with him going.

My issue with loan deals is exactly what we have seen this summer with centre forwards. Could be left in exactly/a worse position next year for centre backs, leaving us struggling for players again next summer.

Does everyone remember when we had suspensions and injuries and James Perch had to play CB with Danny Simpson.

    Ha ha ha ha

Well it’s going to happen again except this time we will have Daryl Jaanmat and Vurnon Anita playing as central defenders.

Nothing changes we are going to sign lots of players that anyone with a bit of sense realises are not coming to our shambles of a club. But the only people who are concerned are the mugs who have gone and bought season tickets again. When will you get sick of being shafted by these Cockney bandits. You fall for it time after time.Few promising signings is all it takes and you blow your cash away.SAD.

If MYM leaves and we don’t pay the going rate for who ever we have lined up then we have now officially and deliberately weakened one of the worst PL defences, mixed with the fact that it is a huge gamble to start the season with three new strikers without a minute of PL experience and you have to ask yourself, does the fat fcuker want us relegated.

Lb we are very weak and will lose alot of goals frm there cant believe ap hasnt spotted it santon is good enough to play lb when his right footed why didnt we move him to rb and use the jammat cash to buy a prober lb/cb?

Pardew lets MYM go and the lad will play Champions League football this year under a highly competent manager who WE COULD HAVE HAD, because they came runners up last year.

The longer these idiots keep running the club and team, the longer we will tread water whilst they absorb the money and abysmal results.

DeJong is a no.10 can he play as a EPL AM?

Cabella another no10 nee good on the wings, Aaorons or Benny?
    .
Colback did we really need him? Anita sons Tiote

Rivière looks and plays like Gouffran used to, will he be better ?

Perez a young striker trying to make his way Arma, Cambell

Ferreya as above we have loads trying to make it but no finished article, I see this lad being worse than LDG not a target man actually prefers to play off a front man. His own words.

Janmatt. Best of our signings due to we neede a RB and bought one!

The two lads from Forrest on ones for the future but still kind of pointless when you look at the young kids from our own club through.

All in all really disappointing as we didn’t get what we needed and I don’t think we’re stronger we just have more bodies, I have a really bad feeling this year and We don’t have enough goals to save us this year and this could be the beginning of the end!

No matter your opinion on M’bwia this is surely absoloute madness.

I keep reading that Mapou isn’t good enough, that he just hasn’t adapted that he is a flop.

Better to have a CB who is a ‘flop’ than have none at all. Some of you try to justify this deal because you think he is crap, I mean c’mon.

Needless to say I think he has massive potential and could have been our be CB and future captain, but it doesn’t matter anymore as now we have Steven Talory, Mike Williamson and Fab Colocinni as our only experienced CB’s.

Let that sink in. Steven Taylor, Mike Williamson and Fabricio Colocinni. One is crap, the other is poor and the final one is on a downward spiral.

Mapou was the only one who could get better.

Letting him go, even if a replacement is lined up, is just piggin stupid.

As I have said previously we have the same center half’s we got promoted with. We have not improved this area of our defence in four and a half years. No wonder we’re shit at the back.
If Pardew is a quarter of the manager he thinks he is he would have identified this concern and addressed it. However we all know he is clueless.

The only time we’ve ever looked good defensively was with Yanga and Willo at the back. I fail to see why Yanga-Mbiwa is being let go, it makes no sense at all.

    I think we’ll regret it.

Lets hope another CB comes in as the second Collo or Williamson gets injured STaylor is back in. The only one of those three I actually rate is Williamson.
