There is news coming through that Newcastle United are trying to arrange a season long loan deal for Manchester City’s Matija Nastasic, and if that news is correct – it could be a really good loan signing for the Magpies.
Matija Nastasic – 21 year-old Man City center-back
The 21-year-old Serbian International defender is finding it hard to get a game at City this season, after he played 50 times for City in the previous two seasons, and a loan move is reported to be on the cards.
It would be even better if Newcastle could make the move permanent, but we’re not sure just how much the Serbian would cost.
The report is coming in from the BBC that Newcastle are interested in taking Nastasic, but he is also supposed to be a target for both Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.
Nastasic signed a five-year contract with Manchester City in the summer of 2012, and he was part of an exchange deal with Stefan Savic going the other way to Fiorentina.
At only 19, the former Partizan and Fiorentina defender had a very good start to his City career playing 30 games in his first season, and in May 2013 he was named Manchester City’s Young Player of the Season, but he had less playing time last season under new manager Manuel Pellegrini.
Manuel brought in 33 year-old Argentine International center-back Martin Demichelis this time last year, and the experienced former Bayern Munich center-back played 32 times for City last season, and basically replaced young Nastasic.
Nastasic would be a great loan signing for Newcastle – if we can get him in today.
