Roma have just completed the season long loan signing of Newcastle’s French International Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa.
Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa – on loan at Roma
The Italian side who finished second in the league last season to Juventus have confirmed the signing on their web-site.
The reports are that Roma have paid €1M (£760K) plus a potential €500K (£380K) in bonuses to sign the 25-year-old French International on loan – so that seems a good deal if it also includes 80% of Mapou’s wages.
This is what Yanga-Mbiwa said on his arrival at the club:
“I’m very happy to be in Rome, I couldn’t wait to get here. I’ve already spoken with Rudi Garcia over the phone in the last few days. I’m ready, forza Roma”.
It’s all looking like another disappointing last day of the transfer window with no new players coming into the club and Mapou leaving for Roma, and it also looks like Hatem Ben Arfa will go out on a season long loan deal to Hull City.
That’s a huge surprise and if we have to think Geordie Steve Bruce just cannot believe his luck that he may have the French International in his squad for this season.
And you can bet your life ben Arfa will be motivated to show his skills in the golden shirt of Hull City this season – bit it was also made clear by Alan Pardew that Ben Arfa had no future at the Magpies and he was literally forced out of the club at the last moment – always assuming the loan deal will go through.
That will get his wages off the books, and it looks to us that Hull City are becoming a more ambitious club than Newcastle these days.
