Southampton Complete Signing Of Toby Alderweireld

News just in that Southampton have completed the season long loan signing of Atletico Madrid defender Toby  Alderweireld.

Toby Alderweireld

Toby Alderweireld – after completing loan signing

It was reported yesterday morning that Newcastle were in the lead to sign Toby from the Spanish club, but in the afternoon that changed to say that Southampton were near certainties to sign the center-back – as the moved in aggressively.

And Toby was a target of Newcastle’s before he made the move last summer from Ajax to the Spanish club, but wanted more playing time this season, and he was said to be keen on a move to England.

We’ll never really know what went with Toby, but Newcastle have allowed Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa to move on loan to Roma, and that will get Newcastle about £3M in savings on his wages plus a loan fee for the season.

But now we are left with only three experienced center-backs at the club – and center-back was already a bit of a weakness in the back four. 🙁

When will the team take priority over money at Newcastle?

We will never be able to build a top side at Newcastle until that happens.

Fact.

    It’s only a loan…..

We could still sign him next summer lol…. Wishful thinking even for Kets bless him.

As for all those saying Hernandez is not class, where is he now? Oh Real Madrid, aye he is crap like, not worth the punt earlier in the window.

Some people on here have no clue.

I am more bothered about Mbiwa than Benny in all honesty…..

He’s going to Hull for a reason, he did not attract any noteworthy club simply because he is not good enough.

I mean the option to loan and buy end of season for nothing and still his best offer before Hull was Birmingham lol.

Don’t see why everyone is so upset…. He is an average player who causes more problems off the pitch than he does the opposition on the pitch.

Just gutted Mbiwa left in all honesty.

Still that said I rather see Obertan leave than Ben Arfa, I am not saying he is a bad player, just not world class as some will have you believe on here. He would improve our squad if you replace him with Obertan as stated.

    Yorkshire

I never said street was good enough, I said I hope he is cos we have no bloody replacements. Some people just take things out of context.

As for Benny overweight his first photos when that news were released he looked overweight.

I think it’s pathetic to say that is the reason he left the club, but it Defo went beyond that as he tried to divide the dressing room last season, probably the biggest reason for the fall out.

And as a player who gets paid that amount of money, you cannot be doing things like that.

Gets to the point when you say a player is bigger than the club, Ben Arfa certainly is not.

Way some wobble on here about him you would think he is…..

There’s many names could be put foward for the vacant CB position and saying none of them have had a run, or likely to until it happens no one knows.

A young kid stepping up doesn’t bother me it can be the making of a young player, my problem is which 5hit bumbling excuse of a CB does the poor young kid get to have as a mentor.

That said I hope it’s Williamson the only decent pro out the three not the most gifted but a decent honest lad. That send it’ll be be Fust Pump.

@Pawl: Those images? They were from last year when he was overweight. Now? He went on holiday with a personal instructor. Guarantee he’ll be straight into the Hull team.

The reason everybody is so angry at HBA’s treatment isn’t that he’s “bigger than the club”, it’s for what it represents: HBA, the exciting, uncontrollable mercurial one while Pardew is the sociopathic liar who only cares about meeting bare minimum.

As a side note: It amazes me how some people on here are actually happy with mediocrity, and not just happy, but more than willing to sit down and accept it.

The fat and unfit Benny will get an immediate start at Hull -playing decent football. I reckon Benny will have a good season and Hull will beat us in a couple of weeks and finish higher than us. So in a way Benny is going to have the last laugh.
I am keen to see the demise of ol permed hair and Percys mate that tub of lard Elliot.

If Hatem divided the dressing room and tried to get players to speak up that they were being asked to play containing football, then the lad needs a handshake and pat on the back never mind being scapegoated as the bad guy.

Pardew is a poor manager with very poor tactics. Hatem was right to tell him, as have other players who have spoken of it publicly.

I’d heard the team trained at Tynemouth when I was surfing there in pre-season. If they’d still been there, I’d have told Pardew myself. Slime ball.
