Fans Don’t Think Magpies Had Good Transfer Window

We seemed to have a decent transfer window this summer, and things were even upbeat at the start of the season, but things have changed since then, and two in three fans think the summer transfer window was not a good one for Newcastle United.

Remy Cabella – still adjusting to Premier League

We brought in nine players this summer.

Ayoze Perez£1.4MTenerife
Jack ColbackFreeSunderland
Siem de Jong£6MAjax
Remy Cabella£8MMontpellier
Emmanuel Riviere£6MMonaco
Daryl Janmaat£5MFeyenoord
Facundo Ferreyra£1.6M - Season LoanShakhtar Donetsk
Jamaal Lascelles£4MNottingham Forest
Karl Darlow£3MNottingham Forest

But our inability to get a win in our first three league games, coupled with goings on last Monday seem to have darkened the mood significantly on Tyneside.

We failed to bring a striker and a center-back through the door, but still allowed Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa and Hatem Ben Arfa leave the club on season long loan deals late on Monday.

Here ‘s the current poll results and there’s still time to vote – one vote per reader.

Did Newcastle Have A Good Transfer Window This Summer?

  • No (69%, 3,224 Votes)
  • Yes (31%, 1,449 Votes)

Siem, ok, let’s not talk about (not) scoring goals… Still, sorry, do you guys score in training? Do you try different set plays? Do you talk tactics? Which games, if any, have you earmarked as wins?

Dude, apart from own goals, scoring goals is THE ONLY way to win games. And, if you read this to kill time, apologies, my rage is waged on your immediate boss.

The talk all summer was that we needed a CB and CF, every season summary by lots of different journos said it, every pundit that was asked mentioned it, every single fan knew it and even that fcuk wit Pardew mentioned it, so what do they go and do, give away a CB and attacker, it is surreal, you honestly could not make it up, I just want somebody, whether it’s Pardew, Charnley or those two PR muppets to come out and explain why on earth we gave away one of our very limited pool of defenders.

    Related to the last post

Barring jaanmat (who actually looks good) it’s the same defenders from last year so they surely don’t need time to gel and defence is our biggest problem. I think it will be defence that will cost us not our attack. So I think we still have cause to get annoyed with the team. He is probably right about giving the attackers a chance though.

Am I the only one to look at the next 6 or 7 games to struggle to work out which we could actually win?

I am just fed up, mate. Anoyed i gave Pardew so much leeway. He is too scared. I only wanted the best for nufc, and thought manager stability was the way forward for a while, but we are moving backwards again. The whole lot need to be shown the door. Start again.

I believe that this transfer window has been OK, i cant call it great because we didnt sign that prolific goal scorer, we also didnt buy a commanding CB. But that doesnt make this window a bad one, Yes we loaned out Ben Arfa- he wasnt going to be played anyway, plus Ashley would have wanted his wages off the books…. To be continued, going out…

Damn if only we could get hold of footage of a couple if training sessions, probably be enough evidence to get Uefa to revoke his coaching badges!

I bet you were one of those who said how good the window was when we signed Anita as we didn’t sell anyone, look what nearly happened that season.

Guys, there’s a reason the big clubs are never in for the players we sign. When they are we lose out to them of course, but we’re not buying above our station at all, SDJ, Cabella, Janmaat…

I like them and think they can be a success eventually, but if they were that good, surely the bigger clubs would’ve been alerted, if not by their own scouts then at least by the players agents themselves.

My opinion on Gaultier is,regardless of whether he’ll come or not i am not impressed with French managers at all.IMO it’s the reason why France have under achieved a lot in competitions. There aren’t many French managers at the top teams all over the world, there haven’t been many french managers in the Prem,i can only think of Wenger and Houllier.

cannot believe we have the same three center backs from the championship season of 2009/2010 we are one injury from a disaster why loan back jamaal lascelles to forest if we are going to get rid of yanga mbiwa just makes no sense at all.

Jean Tiguana at Fulham springs to mind.

France have done a heck of a lot better internationally than a hell of a lot…thinking of Ingerland there.

Almost anything , in fact anything is better than the insipid dirge I have watched these past 2 seasons+ man.

We are being institutionalised and we can´t all see it.

We´re being fed some much dross that eventually we will become desensitised to it and to a degree we already have been.

Token gestures of dissent againt a wholly totalitarian regime at our club.

I´m just gonna play golf every weekend until something changes.

I think it’s one of the best windows we have had in years (including the french one that January). Daryl looks better than debuchy colback has been quality (despite my doubts). Cabella is world class and doesn’t try and beat everyone or lose it like others have in the past. De Jong will be great cabaye replacement at 1/4 of price. and riviere is fast and strong with some goals in him. Just because HBA has gone (im gutted too). They were never gonna make up. lets move on!

Ed I think we had a good window, we got some good players in but yet again now four years on, we still have not covered the part of the pitch that we honestly need someone better and that’s Central Defence. We do have the players to win games but issue is not personnel its tactics from the manager. He has all the tools but still plays with one up front, which means teams have plenty of time to sit back not worry and wait for one of our Midfield attacks with all five pushing forward and then we get countered and yes we lose another game or another damn draw. He needs to play with two forwards which open up our goal options and also allows our midfield some room on the pitch to be creative. Its to bunchy at the moment, I am hoping that he will try two forwards the next couple of games just to see if it works, I mean if reports are true that he only has two games to get it right he has nothing to lose.
