We were wondering when we would get a decent video screen at St. James’ Park, since most of the Premier League clubs already have them installed at their grounds.
The magnificent St. James’ Park to get a huge video screen at this end of the ground
The news has been put out on the Newcastle web-site that a 60-meter-squared LED screen – manufactured by sports technology specialists ADI – will be installed and located on the glass panelling in the North-East corner of the stadium in the Leazes End.
That positioning means that about 80% of the crowd will be able to see the screen – about 40,000 fans in a sold out St. James’ Park.
But hey – it will be the joint-biggest screen in the Barclays Premier League and will be unveiled in the home game against Leicester City on Saturday, 18th October.
Newcastle United managing director Lee Charnley said this about the new facility:
“We have wanted such a facility for a long time now and we are delighted to have joined forces with ADI to install this state-of-the-art giant screen within St. James’ Park.¨
“It will significantly improve the match day experience for supporters and greatly enhance the interactivity and information we can provide to them at the stadium before, during and after the game.¨
“The North-East corner on the stadium was the optimum location where the positioning of such a large screen was structurally possible, while at the same time providing a sight line for the majority of supporters.”
ADI’s commercial manager for sport, Sharon Smith, had this to say:
“We’re incredibly excited to be working with Newcastle United to deliver a platform that not only creates incredible fan engagement opportunity but also drives commercial revenue.¨ “With more than 30 LED displays now installed at sports venues across the UK, we are delighted to be serving St. James’ Park and we look forward to working with the Club to add value to the match day experience.”
We suppose if we are late in installing the video screen, it’s good that it’s the biggest (joint biggest – damn it!) in the Premier League, and in fact it’s another huge facility improvement at Newcastle United.
In the next two years the training facilities at Benton will be improved so that the training ground will be one of the very best in Europe, so credit to the club when it’s due – for improving the facilities big time.
If only we had a team to match the facilities being built at Newcastle – then we could be in business!

Comment #54Some right tools on here and Jopompie is another classic case of a fan from another club wishing he was a geordie. Jog on numpty and enjoy league 2 or wherever you are. I see floppy chops is back up Percy now…His mate apparently, was that not the case when he told the world about Demba Ba clause?
Final note on Harry, just how many money grabbing professionals does he have at his club? Those pre Madonnas claim to work hard yet got his very side relegated….he loved Taarabt who is far worse than HBA both on the ball and off it. I wonder if pardew went crying to one of his pals as he knows that clock is ticking

I just think that it is a crying shame that a great club like Newcastle is let down by it so called supporters that all they can do is slag off the manager and the team. Where is the support?

Comment #62I actually new a guy who fell for the Australian lottery scam..
He was desperately trying to raise 5000 pounds to pay the lottery company for coming to him personally and handing him the check for 250 thousand pounds.
His sons had to step in and make him see sense in the end. Lol

I’ve been intimating that exact thought for a couple of weeks but been unable to worm them out..frustrating to say the least but what really boils my piss is that everyone can clearly see their on the wind-up but interacts with them anyway! Is it boredom? Is it that there easily wound up? Whatever it is, if they fail to give them the time of day they soon scurry back under the rocks from whence they came apart from maybe one or two who look like their here for the long haul because they get service!
I post what it’s said about NUFC and “us fans” because people still talk to it.
