Remy Cabella started for France in the 1-1 draw in Serbia on Sunday night, and he had a very good game and made the France goal, which was scored by former Manchester United youngster Paul Pogba – now starring at Juventus.
Remy Cabella in action against Serbia
Remy looked good in pre-season for Newcastle, and he is now getting to grips with the Premier League as other Frenchmen at Newcastle have also had to do to raise their game to the levels of the Premier League.
Remember it took Yohan Cabaye some time three years ago to adjust, before he finally started to produce the goods at Newcastle, and we expect the same thing from Remy Cabella.
Remy was called into the French World Cup squad last summer after both Clement Grenier and Franck Ribery had to withdraw through injury, but he didn’t see any action in Brazil.
With Siem de Jong out injured, Cabella becomes an even more important player for Newcastle now, and we hope the lad can reproduce the form he showed for France in Serbia, where he looked very good.
Remy has spoken to the press today, and he is back in training at Benton for the important game on Saturday:
“I feel very good about this team,” “I have been integrated, and now I will work to be part of the starting eleven regularly.”
“We ran into a team that was very athletic – the coach said he expected this kind of game – but we didn’t lose. That is the most important thing.”
“I am very happy to have played two matches. The coach trusts me.”
We suppose the athletic team was Crystal Palace – so they may have been athletic but they aren’t reckoned to have a very good side this season, and likely to finish in the bottom half of the league..
A large percentage of Newcastle fans expected us to win that game at home – and that’s only one reason a draw looked like 2 points lost.
But hey, that’s all behind us now – and we can only look forward to the next game, which is a tough one at Southampton.
Newcastle need to take something out of this game – we hope Remy Cabella can help us do just that.
