Alan Pardew spoke with the press for the first time since after the 3-3 draw with Crystal Palace almost two weeks – a game we should probably have own when we went ahead with a first ever Mike Williamson goal with just two minutes to play in normal time but allowed Palace to equalize with two minutes to play in the seven minutes of stoppage time.
Alan Pardew – under pressure
Siem de Jong damaged his thigh in training at the start of the international break early last week and it looks like it’s a long time out for the Dutch International – thought to be around four months.
Alan talked about Siem’s injury and the pressure on him after having got just 2 points in our first three league games:
.
“It’s difficult to assess,” “It’s whether he has an operation on the injury which we’ll probably determine this week. I’m suggesting certainly he won’t be back for the next three months. After that it could be any time really.”
“It’s part and parcel of the Premier League,” “We’ve not won a game yet so the teams that haven’t won a game, the pressure is on those particular managers.¨
“More so on me because of the back end of last year when we weren’t good enough, but I think we’re good enough this year,, and I think our results will reflect that.”
A win would certainly lift the mood of Newcastle fans on Saturday – but that looks like a tall order for Newcastle – unless we can play near our very best form.
And with 12 sackings in the Premier League last season, there’s no PL manager who can be sure his job is safe – and that’s true even for new Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal – never mind Alan Pardew.
We are not expecting too much out of the game on Saturday, so we’ve given the lads have ample opportunity to surprise us with a good result. 😀

Comment #81If any of you were at the 0-6 humiliation against Liverpool, from the off you could see in the corner of of your eye, two and three players were making pre-calculated runs off the ball even before the player in possession received the ball. In a football sense, it was good to see. As a took supporter it was horrid. They knew exactly what they were doing because they were coached into knowing which type of runs should be made in which areas and how a pattern of play will develop.
That is coaching and great management. Sure enough last year they developed it more and looked outstanding.
It is predominantly with similar players that were considered flops under Dalglish. Through good coaching and management, they dramatically improve.
Just like we did when Sir Bobby came in after Gullit’s poor end reign.
Good and capable management with the same players.

cabaye did often have the team in mind first though before he shot ! normal when we was playing around so aften and getting no where then the crown shouted shoot also a lot of the time and also his creativity with his passing to other players meant we know he’s a team player as some of his passes where the best we have seen at the club.
ye sissoko has that <3 him hate him feel about him ! something about him screams quality and other times the simplist of passes seem so hard for him.
goofy tbf has had a fair few motm appearances but i think like laurent does on him that pards is using him as a guti and imo it will (like it has with you) drive fans against him.
Go toon gooooo

aye you cant help but admire rodgers’s work can you !
he is one in a million though tbh and has the support at puds to do things his way without interferance ! i wish we could have a manager and an owner even half as good as puds set up 🙁

Comment #85But croftus, our players runs off the ball are generally hideous, regardless of Hatem being pro-active and running at them.
He’s literally breezing past one, two and even three players with ease. Not many players in the world can do that. If he had the right movement going on around him, you’d see more fluid interchanging, because not only can he pass it to them, they can do a one-two with him to carry on his run.
He’d be in my team every week because he can unlock defences and pull players out of position. That is invaluable.
A good one-two can beat anyone is performed correctly. He needs players on his wavelength to accomplish it. Not only does he need the players in ability, he needs the pre-planned patterns of play. Like Liverpool have shown in many of their games.
Coaching and philosophy.
When our moron is saying such philosophy as
“I think the formation thing is getting in the way of what we’ve got to do. That’s winning headers, running faster and showing a desire to win the game.”
…then you’re going to be in trouble. That is basic Sunday league coaching, not handling international players with specific tactics.

Comment #86Personally i’ve no problem with the HBA saga! He showed the same form and attitude for france, lyon AND marseille! No doubt he will at Hull! One thing he will do there though is score a few worldies and get fans off their feet! I think this puts rose tinted glasses on supporters! Problem with HBA is he will make oppurtunities with his skill but then consistently make the wrong choice once hes beaten a man! Lad has zero football brain!
My huge problem with Pardew is the lack of development with certain players! Personally think Sammy, Bigi, Campbell, good, Vuckic should be far further along in their careers than they are! I worry under pardew this will happen to genuine huge talents Kemen, Arma and Aarons! Pardew too often uses youth as a scape goat for his own poor tactics and under performances of his favoured few!

i have double standards as in ?
i’m reading over the comment i put carfully and i cant see where your coming from tbh ! i said cabaye put the team first before getting frustrated and shooting when we wasnt getting anywhere and that arfa just ignored the team and tried to do everything along opting to shoot/dribble instead of looking for his team first.
or is it somethng different youve seen

Comment #89pardew completely f****d jonas, first of all he didnt use him right and played him in a unnecessary role, when he started declining physically he still played him every minute of every game in a role which he couldn’t do anymore, he kept this for a full season with his confidence getting lower everygame, then out of nowhere he wants him comlplety out of site, and now a guy who was loyal and hoinest is being treated terribly, why should players not just do whats best for them and always put what they wnat above the team thats the lesson

Is this more parsnip speak? If it is he forgot the basis upon which his idea of football or lack thereof, is built upon. “and nick a goal”
“I think the formation thing is getting in the way of what we’ve got to do. That’s winning headers, running faster and showing a desire to win the game.”
What a massive twat he is

Comment #95When I asked Sissokho in the airport that day if he’d still be here next summer, he just laughed and said ‘yeah’, it wasn’t very convincing and suggests to me all of these players that are good enough won’t ever be around more than two or three years, definitely not long enough to progress as a team.

It’s been said before that we get them in on the premise that they can showcase their skills in the prem and if or when a decent offer comes along then we’ll gladly let them leave. Very sad because if we made an attempt at all to keep our better players and never promised them this then we’d have a very good team imo but unfortunately under the leech it’s never going to change.

we know that anyway, the worst part of it is were not letting bids for out players come in were actively seeking to sell them, tiote would have have gone this summer had a half decent bid been placed
do I think he would have been replaced nope I think they took a punt on colback on a free and hoped a decent bid would come
the fat man need to santon to have a good season as he is over due like tiote to be sold

Comment #113Can we please not have another thread devoted to Benny? He’s been moved on and is no longer our player, that may change if we get a new manager in and he wants to come back, until then why don’t we spend more time talking about the players we do have as opposed to a lazy little git, while supremely talented, who didn’t play for the team but more-so for himself. I’m more interested in talking about the likes of Colback, Tiote, Cabella, De Jong, Perez etc.
Only my 2 bobs worth though

Comment #115Pardew said: “I’m responding to pressure like I always do. The only thing I can do is bring what I think is the right mentality to the group for the next game.
“If you ask most Premier League managers, they’ll say their treatment is very much the same. It’s probably a little bit more focused here, maybe because we’ve banned the local media, I don’t know. It seems to be slightly more revved up here.
Wrong again alan, it’s because your shit it’s pretty simple really, not the press, not the fans. You alan.

Comment #117“As far as we are concerned, what’s important with the players here is that they represent the jersey with honesty and truth and love,” said Pardew.
Challenging for Europe and now that. Maybe Pards really has flipped his wig.
Perhaps if we had a transfer policy and infrastructure in place that truly attracted the quality we needed to achieve such lofty goals and also the wages packages that encouraged them to stay, we might have a chance, but I’m sorry to say, we really don’t.

yes oddly I think losing dejong will buy him more time
its not right the same problem persist from last season with more varied players
in all honesty I feel if were not I danger of going down he will be safe
I was quite buoyed by our buys in the summer yes we needed more
mbiwa is a mistake I think in the long run
but were 3 games in and I am back to where I was last 10 games of the season

Comment #120What happens if we are sidetracked over the next few games with the odd passage of scintillating play by the lads and the Toon Army fail to apply the knockout punch to Pardew.
It worries me sick …. how are we going to handle that scenario lads?
