This Represents The Negative Feelings At Newcastle

As many as three in four fans think we will lose the game at Southampton today, and that just about sums up the negative feelings and frustrations surrounding Newcastle United at the moment.’

Here are the results of the poll for today’s game.

How Will Newcastle Fare At Southampton?

View Results
Loading ... Loading ...

Two weeks ago 70% thought we would beat Crystal Palace at home, and the fact we could only draw 3-3 and were behind twice in that game,  and then allowed the opposition to equalize five minutes into added time, started to sour the mood on Tyneside.

It got worse on the last day of the transfer market, when we allowed Ben Arfa and Yanga-Mbiwa go out on loan and brought nobody in, and then yesterday things kind of exploded a bit, when the club banned the Telegraph – the fifth paper currently banned at Newcastle.

And since the expectation is (very) low for today’s game, a win would be very well received – so that’s what we are hoping for.

Here’s the possible starting team for the lads today:

Krul
Janmaat Williamson Coloccini (c) Haidara
Colback Anita
Sissoko Cabella Gouffran
Riviere

What’s your team for today’s game?

Did we mention a defeat would not be good?

Munster Mag,I’ve always enjoyed your posts until recently, you generally now start your posts by accusing those you don’t agree with not having intelligence or by using words that suggest they don’t, we know that Pardew wanted a commanding CB and a goal scoring CF and that his fat boss refused to supply them unless they were free and onky wanted 10K a week, the thing that is boiling peoples pi$$ is the fact that he (Pardew) has said that MYM were offloaded to improve the squad, answers to carefully staged questions along with all the other propaganda that he unnecessarily spouts not to mention the complete dross he serves up, you can counter that argument by saying, ‘is he meant to say he’s not happy with our business’ well fcuking Gus Poyet did, and we didn’t see Ellis Short reaching for the gun, a little bit more honesty from the slimy cnut might be appreciated.

What are peoples formations and starting line ups today then? I think Siem is going to be a huge miss over the next four months.

Who can offer us a great threat going forward right now? It’s all a bit of a calamity.

Gouffran dosn’t look like scoring many this season at all. Works hard but lacks the composed finish when he gets into positions.

Riviere is needing time to adapt and to be honest he dosn’t look suited to be playing as a loan striker. And I think Cisse will struggle too. The pair of them I worry are going to be far from prolific this season.

Cabella also needs time, looks lightweight. Tricky and looks OK but needs time.

Sissoko dosn’t score enough. Im hoping this lad has a big season. But then he will probably be sold as usual.

I think we are missing the main player, a cabaye type player. The main lynch pin that can win games, thread a killer pass, smash in a free kick, score goals. The main player who makes it all tick and spreads that confidence around. Siem was ours but now he is out for four months. We have struggled because he hasn’t been fit yet for us.

Looking around that squad I worry. There is no one to grab the game by the scruff of the neck, no leadership.

This is because of Ashleys model of filling the squad full of cheap imports and then having to let them gel when we should be prepared and bring one or two in each window. Not an overhaul. Letting one or two go at the same time as you bring them in is the way forward.

The whole system has so many flaws its no surpise we are struggling on the field.

But, as we always do, we put money and profit first and foremost before making intelligent football decisions. It ain’t no surprise. It’s another pathetic mid-table season through the lack of depth.

Already Arrons is out 3-4 weeks.
    De Jong 4 months.
    Tiote is unfit.
Santon is out for another 2 months.
Cisse is going to need time after that his bad injury.

We need goal scorers and players to step up quickly. I just don’t fancy any of them right now to do it.

I hope we win today regardless. But dear me, we are far from looking a great team. There just isn’t alot of quality up top for me.

Let’s see if Pardew has the nounce to play Cabella in the middle today in the absence of de Jong as we are desperate for the creativity

There is no point playing rivière on his own up front, yet fraudew will try and pack the midfield to stop Southampton , if he does we will lose,
Then it will be Rivieres fault or someone for making a mistake.
    Fraudew out

Hibbit, yeah, it is set up. They have pre-prepared stuff for interviews anyway, but with all those bans, plus Wendy, they’re all nicey nice questions to ask the stringed one.

Mick Lowes said to Pinocchio after the Palace game that it wasn’t good enough and Pardunce started saying ‘oh come on there mate, that’s a bit harsh’ and things a long those lines. Mick lowes usually goes easy on them to keep his job sweet as well.

Gouffran should not be in starting line up, he has no attacking threat what so ever. I would sooner see sammi ameobi as Rolando injured.

Cabella is a good player but I can’t help but think of Albert luque when watching him play. Trying to hard, talent but unable to prove it.

Colocinni is in my opinion very unreliable

Tiote, I really struggle to understand why people say he is good, if you watch a whole game he will give the ball away more than anybody else on the pitch.

Sissoko can only run in a straight line, unable to regularly provide a decent final ball.

I think we will probably loose today but I don’t think we will be relegated. It will be close though.

    Toon,
for a moment there I though you were describing HBA… grab a game by the scruff, and all that 🙂

Anyway, AP has two more games. If he can pull off a miracle and grabs 6 points, he stays. I think it’s gone that far. MA’s face said it, he’s on his last life.

Wrote some stats in my last attempted post, think it got lost, never was posted: the player who created the most chances (for himself or others) in the PL: Barton. Cabs is third with 9.

Southampton tackles so far, 83. NUFC, 51. A full 32 more!!!?? We sure stand back! Lack of stamina, determination, pressing tactics? Ask AP.

6 – What are your thoughts on our under fire manager Alan Pardew? Was he this disliked when he managed Saints?
He was never actively disliked, and a lot of us defended him when we were warned about him by West Ham / Charlton fans. He did well in his first season, starting with signing Rickie Lambert and taking us from -10 points to 7th place in League One. Then he managed to wear all the players out in preseason and we had a terrible start, so most of us had mixed feelings when he was sacked. Like our most recent manager, his ego stops him seeing his own failings and he has no Plan B.

The thing I find funny about these press bans, (and that’s funny peculiar not funny haha). Is when the press print something that those involve believe not to be true, they take the press and journalist who wrote the piece to task over it.

Usually this involves contacting the paper and asking them to retract the story and offer some sort of public apology. If the paper refuses, then the injured party will sue for compensation.

That is unless the injured party has something to hide and are worried that during a libel case certain facts may come to light that they would prefer to keep secret.

In this case they would probably just ban the paper involved and ALL the journalists and freelancers.

    mmmmm!

I don’t think Siem is going to be a huge miss over the next four months.

It would wrong of me to say he hasn’t impressed me. He just hasn’t looked match fit. He also has had to play in a team that is trying to find its feet and gel with each other.

If the formation is 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3 I would like to see Cabella in the middle. It’s either Cabella or Sissoko. Sissoko looks more effective on the wing where is power and pace will get him past their fullback. Cabella is tricky but to date it hasn’t been enough to get past the fullback.

If we play 4-4-2 I would like to see Perez partner Riviere.

I would imagine that the formation will be something like:

    Krul
    Janmaat – Williamson – Colo – Haidara
    Tiote – Colback
    Sissoko – Cabella – Gouffran
    Riviere

Soton have had mixed fortunes so far. A draw would be a good result.

    Cyprus,

Hatem could of did a job as cover, we have no doubt weakened the squad. It’s karma that has came around and bit the regime on the ar5e. If you don’t replace you struggle, we have seen it many of times.

I don’t see any key player in the squad who could do the job of Siem now. who would you put there who could give it a go? It’s a struggle no doubt.

I think a draw today will be OK and would be suffice to keep his job. I think we will beat Hull also. That would be enough to push us up into mid-table and Ashley would be happy with that as that is his comfort zone and target as usual.

    you know what

the premier league could make a special rule that said all of alan Pardews teams can play with 14 men , and I still think most of the teams would beat us

it would be harder , yes because pardew would play with more defenders, and even if he played them all up front, we never have a clue what to do up there
