Newcastle Will Keep Darlow And Lascelles

There was news yesterday that Nottingham Forest owner Fawaz Al Hasawi says he may buy back the two players he sold to Newcastle in August – goalkeeper Karl Darlow and center-back Jamaal Lascelles.

Newcastle United Unveil New Signings Karl Darlow and Jamaal Lascelles

Jamaal Lascelles and Karl Darlow at Newcastle

It looks like that may be an option for Forest if they do get promoted this season, and of course under new manager Stuart Pearce they have made a great start to the season, and are top of the Championship with 17 points from their first seven games and are unbeaten.

Newcastle are bottom of the Premier League with just 2 points from our first four games.

The Forest supporters and the manager were not happy at all when the announcement was made they had been bought by Newcastle,  but would be loaned back to Forest for the season.

This is what Al Hasawi told the Nottingham Post:

“I will make Forest stronger and stronger every year that I am here,” “Every year I will make the side strong, every year I will work to push Forest.”

“What we did this summer is sell two good players, in Lascelles and Darlow. Some people thought that we had just taken the money.”

“But we did not. We took the money so that we could buy more players for the club, so that we could make us stronger. We kept Darlow and Lascelles for the season and, with that money from Newcastle, we invested in the team.”

“Maybe next season we will sign them again, maybe we will even buy them back.” “In the future, you never know. If we go into the Premier League, perhaps we can talk with Newcastle.”

“We can perhaps loan the players again or even buy them back. Alternatively, we will buy other players.”

The only way Forest could buy them back is if Newcastle agree to that – and even if there’s something in the contracts which mentions this – Newcastle would still need to agree to it.

So if Darlow and  Lascelles make good progress this season, we would assume they would be part of the Newcastle United first team squad for next season.

And if goalkeeper  Tim Krul does move by the start of next season,  Karl Darlow would have a great chance at Newcastle, and center-back is our current weakness in defense.

Newcastle currently have only three experienced central defenders – so if Jamaal can get a long run in the first team this season, he could be well positioned to do well at Newcastle next season.

We are also assuming that Newcastle can start picking up some points and move off the bottom of the Premier League. 🙁

I can imagine as Ashley left the room after the deal he shouted “no swaps back” meaning the deal is final. We used to do it with footy stickers at school

Reckon even if Krul isn’t sold Darlow might fancy his chances of taking the #1!
Theres no hope in hell we’ll sell these players back to forest! Being english they have huge potential to increase ten fold in value! They are also home grown and im pretty sure we’re on to lose and/or sell a few homegrowns by next season! Be surprised if either taylors, Ameobi, Elliott or campbell start the 2015 season here!

Manx – as I thought you have no evidence -you’ve just made it up.
You ask for evidence which shows they were not in contact with Jonas (don’t know why you ask me). Well following your line of suggestion if they were not in contact with Jonas -well there wouldn’t be any evidence would there ————–DUH.
    Many thanks for your effort.

At Manxpie- got a feeling we’ll see lascelles back here before january! Bit funny we included him but not darlow on our squad registration! Hes mainly on the bench for forest under Pearce too!
Forests owner seems decent! Hope they come up as theyre a proper football club! Premier league would be stronger with Forest, sheff Wed and Leeds!
I live in Derbyshire and hes spent a fortune buying up every manor, estate and stately home he can get his hands on in the area

Darlow is very highly rated by Nottingham Forest fans. Don’t think Lascelles has been doing so well.

The crazy thing is Forest could be in the premier league next season and we will be in the championship.

We won’t go down we are rubbish but so are Burnley, West Brom, QPR, Sunderland and Crystal Palace. While Hull, West Ham, Leicester aren’t much better and it is only 4 games gone. I hate Pardew don’t get me wrong but were are better than 7-8 teams at least

Next season Forrest will be a Premier League club and Newcastle will be a Championship club. Bet them 2 will be gutted.
