Papiss Cisse talked after the game on Saturday and talked about what it’s like to be a Newcastle player – and he knows that you have to do your very best when wearing the famous black and white shirt – something that our new players are learning very quickly.
Cisse being attacked by Gouffran after scoring equalizer
Papiss was the star on Saturday with two late goals, and he gave a number of interviews after the game, and his two goals may have saved Alan Pardew his Newcastle job – well at least for a week or so.
This is what Cisse said:
“It’s not like this was just about the manager and the fans, we are Newcastle players and if you’re on the pitch you have to try to do your best and I did,” “The manager said he needed me and I scored. He said as well that he thought I’d score. I just do my job.”
“It’s not pressure for me that the side have needed goals,” “I’m just happy. It’s just a case of going to play football and enjoying it. It’s been a long time out with injury but I have kept my smile all the time.”
“In training, I have been happy all the time. I’m just a happy man. I came back from injury, and scored two goals and gained one point for the team.” “I think the team worked very, very hard.¨
¨If you see all the game, Newcastle did well and I’m just a happy man. Last year was very, very hard.”
Papiss has had a couple of poor seasons – by his standards – and last season he scored 4 goals in 26 appearances, and the season before that he scored 13 goals in 47 appearances, which included the Europa League games.
So he is due a good goal-scoring season, and if Papiss can recapture the form he showed when he first arrived at Newcastle, then we could be in decent shape pretty quickly.
And if you watched the interviews he gave after the game on Saturday, it’s not surprising he’s so popular – he’s such a smashing lad and so positive too.
Papiss could become even more popular if he starts knocking those goals in for us in the next few weeks , we need some heros right now.
He did well enough on Saturday – that’s for sure. 😀

Comment #81Bpc I think out of all of them, sissoko is the most strident but seeing as he has the touch of a blind deep sea diver he is good for laying the ball off when he gets to their box. Of the others. Why dont they counter attack now? What invisible bungee is restraining them? Pardew’s formation? The amount of times teams camp in our half I would have thought even Pardew would commend the initiative to counter a bit more.

I agree we should be playing more attacking football. Trouble is our pace is Aarons who unfortunately is injured, he’s our best player by a mile the rest of our squad lack technical ability, we look very light weight in most areas. All in all we have a budget squad put together by the fat controller.
A new quality manager may get a little more out of our average bunch, who knows?

Comment #83I still want Pardew out now …. what I am saying is that SackPardew .com by seeking risk assessments, fire certificates etc for their paper waving exercise and writing to the Club and the Council etc may have thought they were legitimising the protest. …being too clever by far.
All they did in my opinion was to dilute it by offering the club time to react.
The Surprise factor with dynamic vocal vitriol was always going to be the way forward ….the better weapon. It could have been far better … indeed would have been far better if we had not equalised. It really is an organic situation we are in. Results will kill Pardew soon. …

Comment #84As you well know I never kid Markaccus. I am a valuable source of seriosity for you lot. I say we must remain strong. We must sneer at the Pardew. We must flick our noses at the Ashley. We should all moon Ashley at the next home game. We should shake our fists and say Arrgghhhhh!

Comment #88I think the draw was unexpected, and deflected a post match pasting away from the fortunate silver-maned nemesis.
It might be overly cynical, but I found the timing of Jonas public announcement a bit odd. Yes I know, cynical, but it certainly took the spotlight away from a far less meaningful issue of trying to get an incompetent employee the boot.

I’ve made my mind up … I think ‘the revolutionaries’ fluffed their lines big style on Saturday.

I think you’ll find that we are the ones who carried out what we said we’d do. If others had a similar view and didn’t utter a word, then it is them who you’re talking about.

Comment #94Well, I must say I’m getting a bit depressed watching us play Cyprus mate. That first half on Saturday was horrific. I had to staple my eyelids open to watch it. It looked much like the last half of last season. Does anybody else have to hurt themselves to stay awake while watching us play?

Do you want me to take responsibility for the club’s plight? Should I twist and then attend? Since when did you decide who’s an extremist….those who call others extremists are the ones who simply come up with ‘we must do something but we have no idea what we should but we will still attend and belittle others for trying to do something to force changes’
I gave up my season ticket of 15 years to make a difference I went to all home and away games in all competitions. That’s called sacrifice, I refuse to spend a penny in any Mash Holdings companies. what have you done my non militant/non extremist friend to force change?

Comment #99It’s like Groundhog Day or that new Tom Cruise film which is quite good by the way: Deja vu… When you think he’s out, something happens ( in this case, Cisse) to give him a free life. Amazing!

I said most not all, I’m not being arrogant in saying that….unlike the professionals attending games comment that you made. Let bygones be bygones I really don’t have time to debate what’s wrong and right….the simple problem is we are not United off the pitch hence why fat man gets away with using us.

Comment #102No don’t say that Cyprus! Don’t say it’s given him a free life! It’s not fair. Everything was going according to plan. We were down 2-0 and about to erupt at him. Then Cisse comes and actually plays decent football along with Tiote! Now we have to put up with more bollocks from Pardew! I’m going to get depressed if this continues. Then I’ll get angry. You don’t want to see me when I get angry lads.

Comment #107Willo has been horrible lately so what do we have to lose by trying Saylor alongside Colo? If he maintains discipline and plays his position properly he can help us. He also used to be decent on attacking corners. I remember he even scored a few 2 or 3 years back. Something has to change to give us some chance of climbing out of the bottom 3. Pardew had better realize that soon. More of the same will not do the trick.

All i have done is turn your own accuasations around and shove them back in your face. I am also going to be as stuborn and immovable on that opinion as you are. You are happy to liberally brand other fans as selfish and call them sheep. Well, if you feel it is ok to brand others, hoe about a taste of your own medicine? You are a blog facist, and people like you are the reasons fans will never truely come together and agree on anything. Let alone a way to oust Ashley and pardew.

Comment #116@GeordieTwo: Aye, that was the season we lost AC. We were really struggling for goals and in the last few games Saylor came back from injury and scored 3 in the final 3 iirc. There were a few calls for him to get the #9, actually!

Comment #118Exactly Thump! Saylor could be far better than Willo at both ends of the pitch. We need to get him some playing time to get his confidence back. If not get rid of him and get a decent CB Parsnip and Mashley you idiots! Oh what’s the use? Arrggghhh!!!!!

Pardew must go , a few questions please.
Thought we were poor \ very lucky on Sat. Up top was garbage.
The banner thing \ Pardew out thing, looked very poor, watching live why ? This might be why Ashley keeps the idiot on.
To play a full time on Wed, would not be a good idea. We need to beat Stoke, on a poor run….well …whats a good run.
Honest questions and comments ….no offence
