There was news in the local papers yesterday that Alan Pardew has been in rather lengthy communications with owner Mike Ashley last week before the game against Hull on Saturday, and we suppose the result on Saturday was decent enough in the circumstances, although we really needed a win.
PR man Keith Bishop on Mike Ashley’s right on Saturday
And it appears the Newcastle owner may be taking advice from PR and crisis management specialist and celebrity agent Keith Bishop, who was sitting next to Mike during Saturday’s game.
A Newcastle source told the Chronicle yesterday:
“The manager will get time to get it right and stability in the Premier League remains the priority.”
Unless we see players like Remy Cabella, Manu Riviere and others come through over the next few games, it will look as though the summer transfer was not as successful for Newcastle as some of us thought, although we have to be patient and give the players a chance to acclimatize.
But it certainly is looking like we are short of a recognized striker and a fourth center-back, after we allowed Yanga-Mbiwa to leave for Roma in the summer on a season long loan.
And while Jack Colback has fitted in very well in Newcastle’s central midfield, we have lost the creativity and goal scoring power of Yohan Cabaye, and the injury to Siem de Jong was a huge blow to the team.
When you consider we had Yohan, Loic Remy and Mathieu Debuchy in the side a year ago – we don’t seem to have replaced that talent this summer, which is why we could see some activity in the January transfer window, especially if we are close to the relegation area at that time.
The news is that Mike Ashley will not panic, which is why he’s probably seeking the assistance of Keith Bishop, and while that’s all well and good, what happens if the results don’t improve over the next three games or so?
WE cannot risk getting ourselves enmeshed in a relegation fight – which is the very last thing we need this season. 🙁
Ashley has shown he can be ruthless, and while patience may be the name of the game at the moment, that’s not going to last too long if Alan Pardew and his coaching team cannot turn things around fairly quickly.
Relegation would be a complete and utter disaster for Newcastle this season – and the more likely that becomes in the next few weeks will determine what action the owner will take.
The next few games are going to be absolutely crucial for Newcastle and for Alan Pardew – that’s for sure.

If the team played good football and showed ambition then the kids wouldn’t be looking outside the area, chances are some of these youngsters will come there senses when they get older but you just never know.

For me another defining match was the ManU away game last season when there appeared to be some cohesion and a game plan that worked. Unfortunately now there is no defensive resilience and no confidence in the team, I hope to see more of the ‘hungry’ younger players used.

I think as a fans we have tried the sack pardew thing for sometime now, since last season however if a remove Ashley campaign started it would solve both issues currently plaguing the club…A new owner would want his own man….pardew gets the chop, sounds by the media reports that MA is happy with pardew.
Doesn’t seem like the info Hatem got was correct

Comment #50Not sure if this would be possible, or if you would be interested… but here it is…
T-Shirts, printed with Pardew/Ashley out on the front, and a damning fact about SD on thr back (eg. “SD Promotes Child Labour”). This hurts EVERYONE in this pathetic regime. If there are difficult legal boundries, everyone can buy thier own plain white t-shirt, and use them iron-on transfers. I do not know how to go about this, so i thought i would see if you could/would put the idea out there and see if anyone can run with it and develop it. It means Match goers, pub watchers and armchair fans like myself can all join in walking about town showing our feelings.
Anyway, i respect your comitment to the principle cause of Sack Pardew. Hope it affects the change we need soon
Best wishes

Comment #51This is one of those interesting exercises, you think you know where it might take you (in this case concerning Alan Pardew) and you end up dumbstruck.
Newcastle has proved to be something of a managerial merry-go-round in the past, the present incumbent is under pressure.
alan pardewThe burning question is how does Alan Pardew compare, both with his own record at other clubs and those of his predecessors at St James’ Park?
Statistics can always carry an element of bias; where do you start, where do you end, and what is hidden on the way?
(To feature like Rex, send in your articles for our website to contribute@themag.co.uk)
This exercise is based on after the Boxing Day fixture when Newcastle United beat Stoke, perhaps a Christmas gift from the referee on the day with 2 sendings off, but it is the last time that Pardew came from behind to win. After seeing the results of the speculative exercise, it wouldn’t really have made much difference if we had taken this calendar year.
So the basis of calculation is the last 24 matches of each of these managers before they were let go. Pardew has been sacked by a couple of clubs that he managed in the Premier League, both of them when in a relegation position, West Ham in the Premier League and Charlton after he had managed them into the Championship.
The comparison has been made with other managers to have been sacked by Newcastle, rather than resigned. The only one not to have been here for 24 games is Sam Allardyce who managed a grand total of 21 in the Premier League. The Sir Bobby story is something different so he has been left out of the equation. Points have been adjusted to the current method, IE 3 for a win.
So, the results with number of points in their last/final 24 matches:
32 McFaul
32 Roeder
27 Smith
27 Souness
26 Allardyce (Only in charge 21 matches)
24 Ardiles
24 Pardew at West Ham
23 McGarry
23 Pardew at Charlton
22 Dinnis
21 Dalgish
19 Pardew current form (last 24 matches incl Palace)
18 Pardew current form (the 24 matches post-Stoke and pre-Palace)
Some things become obvious. Pardew clearly has the worst record over his most recent 24 games than any other Newcastle United manager over theirs – his closest target with the next worst record is Kenny Dalglish.
Many supporters will have sympathy with the next on the list, Richard Dinnis, a PE teacher who was arguably never cut out for management, at least he never managed again. We then climb to the grossly underfunded Ardiles and the grossly overfunded Souness.
Special mention should be made of the late Bill McGarry. In his penultimate season, Newcastle United headed the table after a famous New Year demolition of Sunderland (a team that Pardew has lost against in the last 3 encounters) to finish 9th and was sacked when 2nd bottom of his league at the time. Pardew never reached the same heights but has suffered a lower low.
So those are the stats. Why does Ashley persist with his manager?
Some pundits will refer to Sir Alex having been saved by one result before becoming the most successful manager in England. The owner may have faith in Pardew being able to exceed Sir Alex’s success…
Perhaps Ashley is egalitarian, giving managers of all abilities the chance to shine?
Some have argued that Ashley would have to pay out to sack his current puppet. Surely Ashley has the business sense to realise that such a liability as Pardew is actually costing him Premier league prize money?

Comment #61Start with perez cisse and sammy as a front 3
After an hour, bring on rivvy and goofy for perez and cisse (save them for stoke) and play them as a front 2.
sammy would move on to the wing in a mf 4, and the most suitable candidate from the original mf 3 plays on the other wing. Just to try something new ffs alan.

I think you only have to look at what pardew is saying about Sammy to realize we have no future under him.
Sammy may not be great, but he tries, its his lack of options infront of him that is more a problem than Sammy,
so no matter who plays, im not interested in the team until he is gone, then we can start judging players for there ability

Comment #63Sammy has a raw deal tbh. He is better and less lazy than his brother, who on his day could be Brilliant, but if that day only comes once or twice season it’s no good.
Sammy will at least get stuck in, and is clearly capable of beating a player. Id give the lad a decent run of games and see what happens. He cant do worse than Squidward, and would most probably do better.

Comment #64catchy in norway @62 – true. The last time I remember seeing Sammy play he was supposed to be in a left attacking role but ended up supporting the midfield and was not able to move forward for the lack of himself to pass to. He and Sissoko were the only two trying to put the tackles in, I think it was Everton at home.
It is a chicken and egg situation, young players need a series of matches to prove themselves playing alongside first team regulars. Stop start appearances makes injuries more likely and an inconsistent first team is not the right environment for youth players to thrive. We can see it but have no say in putting it right and are expected to be thankful for what we get.

do you really think these kids will get a fair crack under pardew
a few of these kids have been stagnant for a few years now under pardew, a lot of these kids don’t know whether there coming or going under him.
nearly all have been hung out to dry by him as he refuses to blames senior players, it is normal for senior players to look after kids, under pardew its the kids who get to bail out the seniors, if they don’t, , that’s there chance gone

Pardew will be sacked very shortly.
There is no way Manboob Ashley will keep him on when we are rooted to the bottom of the league.
We will get beat off Palace 100%
and will 100% not win at Stoke or Swansea.
Draw or loss v Leicester
and then get HUMPED at Spurs.
We have a poor team and a shocking manager,
Watching all of the games this season i think (in my opinion)we have not got a good enough squad.
If pardew isnt sacked we will get relegated NAILED on.
If he is sacked we still need to buy in January to achieve a position of about 13th to 15th.
We are powder puff in attack and that back 4 is one of the poorest in the division.

Comment #80Kids or young players getting game time under Pardew is one of the main reasons I think he’s useless.
Last year Sammy played first cpl games and showed some real promise then he just disappeared.
Not one of the youth team gets a sniff unless of a injury or in a cup game when Pardew will hoy them all on together and wonder why it doesn’t work.
At Palace we should have a strong spine with 2 or 3 fringe players on, this could be done in league games put a fringe player on whilst giving someone a rest.
I think it’s called squad rotation something I’ve heard of but never seen under Pardew. IMO his biggest failing as a manager as what’s the point in having 24 players if your only going to play 12 to 14.
The season we finished 5th we used least amount of players in the league and the other seasons show a similar traight of sticking to same dozen players unless forced to do otherwise due to injury or suspension.
We’ve always had options just Pardew won’t use them!
