Magpies Need To Win To Get Season Going In Right Track

Newcastle have not done well in the local cups since Alan Pardew arrived at Newcastle in December of 2010, and the best we have done in any one cup is to progress through a couple of rounds, but there’s an opportunity to equal that record tonight at Crustal Palace in the Capital One Cup third round tie.

Jack Colback – in action against Hull City

Of all the players we brought in over the summer, the player who has so far performed the best for the team is 24 year-old Jack Colback, the lad from Killingworth we signed as a free agent from Sunderland.

And Jack will very likely start tonight at Selhurst Park, as the lads try to make it through to the last 16 of the League cup tonight.

And Jack is fresh from the Sunderland run of last season when the Black Cats were beaten 3-1 at Wembley by money bags Manchester City in the Capital One Cup final, after Sunderland has been leading 1-0 at half time.

Jack seems upbeat that Newcastle can get on a cup run this season:

“It’s good for the club when you go on a run like that.” “It was a great experience for me personally, playing at Wembley and going there for the first time.”

“It’s good for team morale as well. When you’re winning games, it doesn’t matter what competition it’s in.” “It’s good for the club and it’s what the fans want.”

“We have got to get that winning mentality going.”

Sunderland went out last night at home to Stoke 2-1 in the League Cup, but Jack is right that winning games does give the players confidence, and that’s what Newcastle need at the moment.

Another defeat tonight and the anonymous organisation pushing for Alan Pardew to be fired will be in full cry again before Monday night’s game at Stoke.

A win is what we need to see tonight, but the players need to turn up and play something like we played on Saturday against Hull – but who can score the goals with Papiss Cisse out sick is a good question.

But a win is what we need, and then the lads can go all out on Monday night to try to make it two wins in a row at Stoke City.

What do you think?

What’s the betting the next statement to come from the club will be from the tea lady, explaining how the extra sugar she sneaked into the cup gave the players more energy.

Mike Ashley was yet another curse on this club, and one NUFC didnt deserve. Admitted, the previous reign wasnt much better, but why couldnt we get a break and at least get someone in who had the money and financial clout to stabalize us AND who actually cared and had ….

Bro, Are you asking too much?
    …Are you?

Palace are host to Leicester on Saturday so they will have more of a selection worry than us due to the few days extra rest we can focus on

    We’ll win 🙂

Colamity is at it again. That’s two statements in the space of less than a week.

    The cups are important blah

The fans need to get behind us blah

Jesus it’s getting ramped up big time isn’t it.

Staylor, willo, dummett, colback and colo twice all in the past week.

Somethings afoot people. Either they have decided to communicate more with the fanbase and are using that to state cups are important or attendances/interest/people’s views of the dictatorship have changed for the worst and the PR spin is trying to get people back on board the regime train.

    I know which I’m going with 😉

look who’s making the statements though….

    saylor fighting for his place

Williamson who shouldn’t really be playing for a club like newcastle

    Jack…a proper geordie

Dummet who’s name just about sums him up

and Captain Colo who owes Pardew big time.

All the rest of the team are steering well clear because they can’t stand the manager and the fact they’re not putting out a full strength team because such a big couple of games coming up

    Pathetic!
