Why This Newcastle Team Can Win The Game Tonight

We know that Tim Krul, Papiss Cisse and Yoan Gouffran are not available for tonight’s Capital One Cup tie at Crystal Palace, because they have picked up a virus.

But Alan Pardew can still put out a strong team by playing most of the first team players tonight, and that’s also true because our next game isn’t until Monday night at Stoke City.

Cheick Tiote struggled mightily on Saturday at the end of the game,  simply because he ran himself into the ground, and we think it would be wise to give Cheick a rest tonight, and maybe start him on the bench.

And it gives a good opportunity for Mehdi Abeid to come into central midfield, and he played very well at Gillingham in the last round, although Vurnon Anita could also be given that opportunity tonight.

So here’s a strong team Newcastle can play tonight

Elliot
Janmaat Taylor(S) Coloccini (c)  Haidara
Colback Abeid
Cabella Sissoko Perez
Riviere
Subs: Alnwick Dummett Williamson Tiote Anita Ameobi Obertan

Gabby Obertan could also be given a start tonight, depending on how he’s looked in training – and we may see Argentine striker Facundo Ferreyra on the bench for a change.

We were surprised that Paul Dummett was brought back to the starting eleven last Saturday, after Massadio had a good game at Southampton – one of the few Newcastle players who did, so we expect Haidara to get the start at left-back.

And we also expect Steven Taylor to be given a run-out in place of Mike Williamson in central defense, and Steven had a solid game at Gillingham.

Palace manager Neil Warnock has said he will make eight or nine changes to his side, but that’s because they entertain Leicester City at home in the league on Saturday afternoon.

So because we have two extra days to recover before our next game, here’s a chance for Newcastle to win the game tonight by fielding a strong team.

Howay The Lads!!

this is more like perez and Abeid s last chance, if they don’t win us the game there out of the squad for wasting this chance
and even if they play amazing and we lose the game, goofy will be back vs stoke

Has to be 442 tonight or at worst any formation with two up top.

Riviere with either Perez or Armstrong.

I am pretty sure we will see abied but why were trying to make him into a holding mid and not shoved further up the pitch where he had a lot of success last season while out onloan
it does baffle me as were so up that part of the pitch and with no dejong surely its worth playing in his more natural position

Someone is due a thrashing from us. It may be Palace tonight. Dunno why but I smell AP getting a win to take us through.

I feel sorry for Haidara. He always plays well & Dummet always plays poorly, yet he is favoured as he is more defensive minded. Also why do we need a fullback who doesnt get forward when we have wingers who constantly track back.

I expect Dummett, Anita, Obertan, & Ameobi to be in that line-up.

It’s time to start Armstrong before he starts to rot & lose hope in reserves.
