It’s difficult to take many positives from the game last night, but maybe the good form of Gabriel Obertan should have him be in the starting eleven at Swansea on Saturday, and at least Gabby creates some chances, and he did that last night when he set up the late chance for Jack Colback, but the local lad missed a golden opportunity for Newcastle to take a point out of the game.
Lee Charnley and Mike Ashley last night
If we had managed to get the draw last night, it would have been a decent enough result, but we didn’t and we honestly believed that was the end for Alan Pardew – with just one win and three draws in the last 14 league games.
The Newcastle manager will be in charge of the team at Swansea, and one thing that is clear – is that he still has the confidence of the players, and Mike Williamson came out last night and said the players were right behind the manager as he fights to keep his job.
The lads may not be playing well together at the moment, and the team should be performing a lot better than they are – but for the last three games they have worked hard and given everything for the shirt – we just basically haven’t been good enough in the last two league games.
We don’t know how long Alan Pardew has left at Newcastle – but as we’ve said before at some point the fans have to get behind both the players and the manager.
And although we fully understand the protests taking place against the manager, it doesn’t help the players – which is even more reason why we have been impressed with the players’ work rate and fighting performances over the last three games.
Who knows – we may even win at Swansea on Saturday – that would be a real positive – for a change.

Comment #3Oscar Garcia would be an interesting proposition for sure, but the problem Ashley has is in finding a manager with the mental strength to handle the job, which might rule Garcia out.
To be honest, despite the clubs incredible run of form, I actually have to at least credit Pardew for turning up day in day out and putting in a job of work under such pressure and under such constraints.

Comment #11Ironing that white shirt once in a while would really help his scruffy sheek look that he tries to pull off.
