Gabby Obertan came on after 68 minutes at Stoke City last night and had a very good game for Newcastle, and he currently tops our poll for the Man of the Match last night.
Alan Pardew last night at the end of the game
When he’s played the French winger has looked good so far this season, and he deserves a start at Swansea on Saturday.
Cheick Tiote and Jack Colback again played well in central midfield for Newcastle and they are next in the poll, followed by Daryl Janmaat who had a great shot saved by Stoke goalkeeper Asmir Begovic in the first half.
Newcastle lost 1-0 in what was a key game for Alan Pardew and the team, and it now remains to be seen if he is relieved of his duties as Newcastle manager.
That was our 17th defeat in the last 26 league games, and we have just one win in the last 14 of those league game, a home win against relegated Cardiff City. 🙁

Cabella 10 forward passes out of 38; 73% backwards. There were times last night that I wished he were HBA, as he could have used his speed strength and good touch to go past a few players.

Comment #84The bottom line is that Pardew has to go, he learns nothing from his mistakes, he swapped Riviere for Cisse and they both suffered from the same problem of no service. Gouffran and Cabella were useless yet he didn’t change it until the last 15 minutes because he’s third rate.

Comment #88It’s almost impossible for anyone to pass forward for newcastle as their is nobody making space / runs – they all seem to be caught between shall I attack or defend and ultimately stand stationary

Comment #89I also think we look like a relegation side at the moment, but so do half a dozen others, who don’t have our squad, or the capacity to buy themselves out of it, or De Jong or Santon or Aaron’s to return.
Ashley isn’t panicking, that’s something atleast.

Comment #91I don’t think Pardew is the biggest problem though. He’s a big problem but Ashley is a biggest problem.
Ashley’s lack of investment, and obsession with signing cheap foreigners with no experience of the division was always going to catch up with us eventually.
It’s remarkable that we’ve got away with it for so long actually.

Comment #93I don’t think Pardew will go yet. It’s still early days for Mike’s gamble of not signing the players needed in the summer. Plenty of points to play for to get his bread and butter mid-table finish and plenty money to spend in January if we still don’t look the part. He knows what he is doing. It’s Mike’s gambles why we are struggling once again. His structures amd he knows it, that’s why Pardew still has a job.
I have no doubts we will finish mid-table one way or the other here.
Players are taking time to adapt. De Jong is missing, our key signing this summer who was supposed to make this side and formation tick.
We have an abundance of mediocre players and youngings with a few decent Premier League players. Alot of these players arn’t used to this league, they have also came into a poor enviroment and it is showing for me.
We have mid-table written all over us, as usual.
I wait for the day we start a season with a quality squad and are setup correctly from the top down.
Ashley and his penny pinching gambles will always see us struggle to compete at the best level we can.

I seem to be spending the best part of my day checking out the breaking sports news !!
It’s turning into the best soap opera around.
There’s more to life than this though, surely ! ….. infact I’m beginning to admire Pardew’s resilience; albeit being misplaced and at our expense.
What will happen next ?
You can bet your bottom dollar that I’m not the only one transfixed ….. just excuse me … I’m off to check the breaking sports news !

Comment #99Yeah he definitely needs to go like.
There’s managers out there who would do better with these players in my opinion.
I still think that this is a combination of bad manager, bad owner, lack of investment, bargain bin transfer policy etc etc all coming home to roost at the same time to be honest.

Comment #100The ‘Whoscored’ player ratings for our side last night, based on statistics. (Got this from ‘The Mag’)
Cabella didn’t see much of the ball in the 2nd half… but the ratings back up that he was still one of our best players. If he had a 2nd half like the first, he would have been MOTM. We played with a deeper back line in the 2nd half, which was an attempt to stop Stoke being able to counter-attack and draw them out a bit. This led to Cabella being left with little support, his replacement Sammy Ameobi gave the ball away every time I seen him on it.
I could not understand Ed’s earlier article stating Cabella is too lightweight and needs to be dropped. I recall Cabella outmuscling one of the Stoke defenders in the first half, when he was running parallel across their box.
7.4 Tiote
7.3 Sissoko
7.0 Cabella
7.0 Coloccini
6.7 Obertan (Sub)
6.6 Williamson
6.6 Colback
6.5 Dummett
6.5 Janmaat
6.4 Krul
6.3 Gouffran
6.3 Sammy Ameobi (Sub)
5.9 Cisse (Sub)
5.9 Riviere

Comment #101Obertan is not a surprise. He is the only right winger in the club at the moment.Sissoko and Sammy Ameobi are not wingers and are poor on that position.I think if Obertan replace Sissoko as a winger Pardew will save himself if not sacked until next game. And don’t talk about Cabella. He is far BEST player in our squad.Football virtuoso.Count to three before tell something.

for the first time I want us to get stuffed on Saturday , it pains me to say this but I do.
then we may all be released from this terrible curse of pardew.
it astounds me that a so called experienced premiership mgr has such a lack of ideas and is totalll clueless,
everyone can clearly see we need two up front rivierre is not a lone striker neither is cisse, for gods sake play them together ,
and drop goofy after obertans display he should be given another chance ,

May be over optimistic but then we may pick up a draw here and there also, but 18 points potentially. A total of 21 points from 18 matches which should put us just above the relegation zone depending on other teams. IMO Ashley will leave AP in position as long as possible in the hope that he will resign. He is a gross blunderer that is gambling on not paying off AP against us not being cut a drift at the bottom of the league.

this is an excuse used far to often,

Me & AC pointed out in 3 occasions when Cabella gave the ball away in the 2nd half, even Sammy gave Bardsley a tougher game yesterday in the short time he came on.
I want Cabella to do well, I really do but he just looks shite, he struggled to string together passes yesterday….basic things

Comment #114I actually thought obertan looked decent last night, he got us up the pitch quickly, took on defenders and put two or three decent balls into the box. The problem for me is aside from cisse there was no one busting a gut to be in the box. Possibly this is where we miss a de jong, Nolan type of player.
Cisse and riviere need to start as a front two, not one replacing the other in a game.
All of the back four look suspect.

I would only fancy our chances of beating QPR, Burnley and Sunderland.
Leicester are a well drilled side, Pearson would have them work us off the pitch. West Ham is a guaranteed draw more than likely.

Comment #116todays events prove there is something very much amiss between Pardew and the Fat Controller.
It’s not just down to the gambling debts and who pays for what if he is sacked…it must go much deeper than that…Pardew must have something on Ashley that could cause some serious financial / reputational damage.
Pardew must have seen something, or has a tape or has some sort of evidence that can cause Ashley considerable harm because there’s no other explanation that would provide any sensible reason to keep that man in a job after such a miserable run of results.
Pardew and Ashley are flushing this club down the toilet and I really do hope it’s not because he’s buying Rangers this season and wants to see us flushed down the relegation toilet as cold revenge for driving him out of the club…but nothing would surprise me.
No other owner would have kept any other manager in a job for this long with this particular run of results behind them unless the manager had something on the owner.
Fcuk nose what it is but there’s something very sinister going on here

Comment #117I think PA does need to go.
Providing what I’ve read and told were right, I think PA does not know what to do with his squad.
Basically, I don’t think he really needs a proven striker. Cisse is a natural finisher and he was starved of services yesterday. Would it mean a lot if we had Costa there leading the line last night?
The problem is how he sets up the team and his over-emphysis on crafts over flairs.

I said to him at the time that none of it adds up as Pards could have been sacked without any agreements being met when the headbutt incident happened. I also said that it’s very unlikely that if these 2 people he was apparently speaking to would spill the beans to him so he could put it on an open forum.
If anything they gave him lip service and told him what he wanted to hear…if he knows them at all. These are the reasons why ITKs get knocked down.

Please release him, let him go

To waste our team would be a sin
Release him and let me love again

And I will never want you hear
your lips just lie while you are hear
Release Pardew, let him go
Please release him, let him go
For we don’t love you anymore
To waste our team would be a sin
Release him and let me love again
Please release him can’t you see
You’d be a fool to cling to him
To live a life to bring us pain
So release him and let me love again
Let me love
Let him go
