There was some welcome good news for Newcastle today, when Cheick Tiote came out and said he doesn’t want to leave Newcastle, and that he will continue to keep fighting for the team.
Cheick Tiote – world-class in last two games for Newcastle
That’s just exactly what we want to hear from one of our best players – and of course Cheick is the joint vice-captain of the team, along with new signing Siem de Jong.
In his press conference yesterday, this is what Alan Pardew said about Cheick, and the most current incident when a Newcastle player seems to have been misquoted, when in his home country:
“When a player goes to their own country, and that doesn’t necessarily mean Africa, it could be France or Holland, we always seem to get misquoted versions of events, and this is one of those cases – I’ve had them 100 times at this club.
“The last two performances of Cheick Tiote have been world-class, trust me, in a team that hasn’t particularly functioned very well – so that says it all for me.”
“He’s a fantastic player and a big character for us, and I look forward to seeing him on Saturday what he does, and that is to play football very very well.”
Cheick seems to be forming a solid partnership in the middle of the park with Jack Colback, but we are still missing some creativity there, ever since Yohan Cabaye left the club last January for PSG.
But maybe Siem de Jong can provide some of that when he returns from injury early next year, and we just hope by that time the team has fought their way off the bottom of the league.
We also expect some new players to arrive in January and according to reports, a striker and a center-back are still the targets, and it’s just a pity we didn’t bring them in over the summer.
Comments welcome.

Comment #3Everytime he makes a tackle he is thinking “that’s for asking me to take the garbage out”, “that’s for redecorating the house while I was gone” etc. With two wives and a mistress and most of the pissed off at him, I’d say he just needs to keep his anger in check.

Comment #5I think he will persevere with Cabella and Rivierre for the time being, because these are the young players the club have high hopes for in a financial sense and do need time to settle.
Gouffran looks ordinary as does Dummett, and that’s where changes are most likely to occur over the next few weeks, with Cisse starting, hopefully this Saturday.
I think they’ll have reassessed the squad and be thinking they are light and inexperienced, but the quality is there to climb into mid table by January, when they’ll buy if they need to, but within the existing framework and with reasonable money in the kitty.
But again, all of this shows the shortcomings in the Ashley model, which at this stage is looking devoid of delivering remotely anything like a side that could sustain a top six challenge.

Comment #6I think the best most realistic outcome is Ashley recognizes the flaws in his model and gives the manager, probably Pards, more money and more input in transfers.
That is really only the minimum requirement of course, and as stated, only the best most realistic outcome, and we have 3 months to weather before help arrives.

Comment #7When Pardew says ‘trust me’ it’s an absolute joke. He is a joke.
Alan, the team generally doesn’t function well with you in charge.

Comment #10I suppose there is the possibility that if Ashley is forced to part company with Pardew, and of course recognizing the problems he’s had in the past with managers resisting the restraints he wants to place upon them, he may have to change his approach to attract a capable manager.

Comment #11Yes Mr Pardew. We all believe that Cheik wants to stay and that he’ll be offered a contract that’ll keep him here.
It’s clear Pardew’s doing his damned to squash any interest as borne out by his words – ‘He’s a fantastic player and a big character for us, and I look forward to seeing him on Saturday what he does, and that is to play football very very well.’
Yes Pardew, that make sure that Arsenal won’t come for him and that Ashley daren’t sell him!
What a good manager we’ve got eh? Aren’t we solo lucky to have him?

Comment #13He’ll have to change his approach to running the club, because it seems everyone with a stake in it, other than possibly himself, and even that seems stretched, is looking increasingly disenfranchised. It’s failed and it’s finished unless Pardew somehow turns it around half circle, which frankly has a cinder in snows chance of happening.

Comment #16In all truth, the french revolution hasnt worked under this regime because of their inability to coach a global game.
We would have been better off signing young hungry players of british background from lower league clubs as we have done with Dawson and Lascelles. However they should have been kept at the club.
There is/was some quality there such as Trippier, Ings, Rhodes, Cresswell, Redmond, Hughes, Martin etc who could have adapted to the style of coaching delivered by Pardew and his cronies.

Comment #17we’ll continue to support the team when playing. If we win, just smile, celebrate and move on..
Colback is still my best player from all in the opening 6 games and still signing of the summer. He still giving everything, still hard worker and hungry to play.I don’t understand whey he jumped over by Roy Hodgson?
On possible Tiote replacement, I’d prefer jonjo shelvey. He is big, strong, determined, accurate passer, accurate long balls, and team player.Besides, he can play as playmaker or defensive midfielder. couldn’t outline better option..Hwtl!!

Comment #18Marveaux scored a couple eh.So he’s not that useless, same in the case of Mbiwa who is doing just fine at the joint Serie A leaders…
We’ve gone down a lot when we view our next opponents as an ominous opponent who resembles, not only in terms of outfits, Real Madrid in our eyes. Anyway, I had predicted 1 point from the last two games, so I’m sticking with that. So, a draw it is against the Welsh giants.

Comment #24Some posters offer so much to this blog. Take Ethiotoon for example, this is a poster calling for other posters to be banned. What a short memory he has, the same poster has made numerous unprovoked attacks on other posters without cause or reason myself included. He is a troll and a wum who emerges from his cesspit now and again abuses a couple of posters and slithers of again.
Dazza, very constructive arguments, the thing that happens when one has had to much Dutch courage is all sense and reason seem to leave them. If all you come here for is offer abuse to other posters I would have to ask….What is the point of you?

Comment #27One or two points emerge from this morning’s blog reading.
Firstly, a very good point from a marketing blogger in Canada who said any protest would be far more effective if it were targeted at SD rather than at Pardew. Ashley could not put up with anti SD banners with the threat they posed to his business, for very long.
Secondly, hands up the blogger who would voluntarily give up the considerable payout that Pardew can expect if he is sacked. If there are any hands raised I’d be amazed. Not only is he doing what most sane people would do by not resigning, he is standing up to Ashley in the only way he can. He is getting back at the fat one for all the cr@p he’s had to put up with over the past four years, and I for one hope he gets his payout. It’s high time someone landed one on the owner where it hurts – in his pocket.

Why would the payout hurt Ashley?? The payout would come from the club, not Ashley, so it wouldn’t hurt Ashley’s pocket in the slightest. If anything, it will leave less funds available in the small pot the club are allowed to spend.
Ethio,
Give it a rest man. You may not agree with the sentiments of AC or Firebug’s comments, but they have just as much right to post and chat on her as any other. AC is obviously a passionate fan, and that sometimes bubbles over.

Comment #33Targeting sports direct is the only way to force Ashley out. The sad fact is we are not United under one banner at the moment and need real leadership to co-ordinate a sustained mass protest. Even with leadership and co-ordination I’d still be sceptical that fans would have the stomache for a long drawn out campaign. Sad times indeed.

On the leadership issue, I have said that for over a year now. There are too many separate factions, and it is almost like a popularity contest between them, rather than getting together under one banner and putting a sustained and meaningful campaign together.

I agree. Look at the rangers fans already! They now know he’s not arsed about their club and have said if he did he’d of purchased shares in the share offer instead of paying a hedgefund the cash. They’ve come together to denounce fatty and his tat shop and he’s only just upped his stake. There planning to boycott SD north of the border!
What do we do? Fight amongst ourselves and bicker what’s best for the club.
At the end of the day it all leads to fatty and his appointments.
A figurehead is needed to lead the masses

Comment #38gazzaforever and cyprus marv has come on as sub 3 times in league and started 5 games and was subbed in all of them.one he won mom but 1 dissapearred when going got tough, described as anonymous against monaco but to me was worse giying the ball away and caught in possesion too often and this for a team bottom of the french league i dont think he would be a regular at any premier league team.
