Cisse And Obertan Start At Swansea – Cabella Dropped

swanseanufc emblem

Alan Pardew has just announced his team for the Swansea game and Papiss Cisse and Gabby Obertan both start,  and as half expected – Remy Cabella has been dropped.

But there is no room on the bench for Adam Armstrong, although youngsters Perez and Sammy Ameobi are subs today.

And Pardew has changed his formation to 4-3-3 from 4-2-3-1 with Obertan, Cisse and Gouffran the front three, presumably to try to get some goals.

The defense is unchanged with Tiote, Sissoko  and Colback being the middle three – so we hope to see a more attacking Newcastle side, and the lads have to go all out for the win today.

For Swansea, former Newcastle winger Wayne Routledge starts for the home side.

Newcastle need a win this afternoon – but not many fans think that will happen.

Expected Cisse, but didn’t think Pardew would have the balls to play Obertan from the start.

Cabella is fitting into Ben Arfa’s position nicely, that being the scapegoat relegated to the bench.

    Krull
    Janmaat, Willo, Colo, Dummet
    Tiot, Colback
    Obertan, Sissoko, Gouffran
    Cisse

    whilst I would have this

    Krull
    Janmaat, Willo, Colo, Haidara
    Sissoko, Tiote, Colback
    Cabella
    Cisse, Riv

hmmm I wonder which one is better

Sigh, one up top again. This should be dull.

Also, nice to see Cabella taking up Ben Arfa’s role of scapegoat.

Seriously though just look at the midfield and attack.

No creativity, no flair. Pards has now reverted to the only thing he knows which is a team picked on working hard and defending rather than making the other team worry about us.

Can you imagine Swansea’s reaction to seeing that team sheet..

Good to see him actually try to change something but why the hell single out Cabella, tells him he needs to perform then drop him?

Yet Goofy is still in the squad?

Surely a 4-3-3 would of been perfect to see Cabella in? Rather see him there as Sissoko as a number 10 tbh

No point in playing Gouffran as a tracking back winger as our CBs are gonna ship goals anyway, so need to play real offensive players

He will always blame the flair players before the workhorses – Jonas/Gouffran ahead of HBA/Cabella. Mullins ahead of Mascherano, Harewood vs Tevez I think it was too.

Same tactics, same formation but with less creativity and ability – genius plan.

and Sissoko as the 10, because that hasnt been tried(and failed) before.

Well, out of our nine summer signings, the great new hopes of this club, a grand two start today. One a defensive midfielder the other a fullback.
Quality signings those strikers we bought in the summer.

The only thing offensive about this set up is the inept one, Was hoping for a win today as I hate where we are, but to be honest I fear a loss, even a heavy loss.

Glad he’s dropped Rivvy though, the lad looked dangerously close to building some confidence, canny have that like
Be ludicrous to play him with Cisse, try and get both there confidences back!

Scottishmag1, install xbmc on your ipad (if its jailbroken) then install sportsdevil, there are plenty links/streams on there, although im not sure why anyone would want to watch this negative, defeatist, monumental F up of a team selection by the inept one…..he must be wanting the sack……where are the goals coming from…not open play and not set plays…..must be hoping for a couple of own goals…..why the f is he hanging around, in his case i wish he would get a tonsilitis and be silent until hes gone….sooner rather than later

Percy’s decision making is so inept I can only presume he wants the sack and a five million payout. It is infinitely better than all the abuse he gets for 100K a month.

Not sure about Obertan in a front 3. He’s looked ok but he’s a winger, not a wide forward.
The annoying thing for me is gouf in the team. He’s been terrible this season. Would rather have cabella or Riv.
