The Draw Will Give Us Belief – Pardew

Alan Pardew was a relieved man at the end of the game today, after Papiss Cisse for the second game, scored a brace and saved Alan Pardew’s job at Newcastle – we are assuming Alan really thinks Papiss is great at the moment.

A smiling Alan Pardew today

In fact the good news is that Papiss looks as sharp now as he was when he first arrived back in January of 2012, but the bad news is nobody else looks like being able to score any goals in this Newcastle side.

But maybe playing 4-4-2 with Riviere and Cisse up front is what we need to play against Leicester City in two weeks time at St. James’ Park.

This is what the Newcastle manager said after the game today:

“The comeback showed great spirit and character. Swansea keep possession so well and it’s difficult but we really dug in and carried a little more threat today.”

“There’s always pressure when you’re behind in a game but it’s my job to try and lift the players and make sure there’s fight in their belly.¨

“The confidence will get better and this will give us belief. They’ve been good in training but you can see on the pitch that they are under a little bit of stress but they responded really well today.”

We shouldn’t get too carried away with the performance today – it was average – but again our lads showed fight to come back in a game – and that’s good and this is a case where the result was always going to be more important than our performance.

But we still need to be a lot better at the back and we need to provide more threat up front.

It’s almost certain we will need to strengthen the squad in January, because unless Riviere and Cabella come through big time before Christmas, out squad just doesn’t seem good enough – and we need some strengthening in defense too.

To be honest, we are just pleased we got a point today, that’s how bad things have been this season.

What do you think?

Feel sorry for Cabella. I have a feeling this is another creative player stifled by formation and the quality of players around him. He doesn’t suit a workhorse tean that sits back with a 5 man defence in front of a 4 man defence.

He should lend them specs to Ashley and then maybe he’d be a bit quicker sacking the cretin when he sees the shite Pardews playing.

Ed – the reason Cisse was taken off was because he had nothing left – he is still not 100% fit. I was impressed that Pardew replaced him with another striker and not a defender to see out the game. I know you lot hate Pardew but you have to give him some credit for a decent result today and changing tactic when we were chasing the game.

I am still surprised at 4-3-3 and decision to drop Rivi and Cabella. 4-4-2 with Rivi and Cisse just seems so obvious and what I have predicted / called for before this and last match (yeah I know so has everyone else on here) but still I don’t get why it still didn’t happen? Pards trying to pressure Cabella by sitting him? And Rivi word has been out for a while now that he prefers to play alongside someone up front and so wy not try it? Pards no explaining him!

He should’ve used the 442 at our home games but stuck with this 4231 (9-1) stupid defensive thing that doesn’t suit our so called attacking minded players, yes well done Pards for making the obvious move when your job is on the line, big pat on the back, now fruits of and take Williamson with you 😀

Why not try Perez up front with Cisse as Riviere is shit ,we’ve nothing to lose at the moment ,if we start defensive against Leicester we’re doomed ,Pardew is f###ing clueless
