Newcastle Doing Much Better Off The Pitch

The good news today is that Newcastle United have received approval from North Tyneside councillors,  following their application to redevelop their Benton-based training ground into one of the best training grounds in Europe.

Newcastle have done some decent things to build the club’s facilities over the last few years, and that started in the summer of 2011 when under-soil heating was put into some of the pitches at the Benton training gerunds, and Newcastle are one of the few clubs in England to have those facilities on their training pitches.

Newcastle recently announced they would be getting a giant screen (at last) to be placed in the Leazes End end of St. James’ Park,  and now they have to go ahead to make Benton into a world-class training facility.

Now if only we could build a decent tram with a few world-class players.

It was last November the club announced plans to redevelop the 35-acre training ground site into a state-of-the-art training complex and the cost to the club is in the millions of pounds – but no official word on the cost.

The work will not begin until May of next year, and it  will be completed in about nine months, so it will be ready before the end of next season.

The existing training pitches and the modern indoor training hall will not be demolished, but the current Training Center building will be leveled, and a new state of the art building will be erected in its place.

The Training Center will include changing, training, rehabilitation, medical, leisure and catering facilities and there will also be the latest  aquatic technology installed to treat injuries and to strengthen muscles etc as part of rehabilitation.

The aquatics will include a 20 meter swimming pool, a hydrotherapy and fitness pool and specialist equipment to aid injury prevention (that’s good) as well  as rehabilitation.

There will be enlarged administrative space including offices, a presentation suite for match analysis and also a new media suite, where journalists will be hosted.

That’s always assuming not all of them have been banned by early 2016. 😀

The new center will be eco-friendly and built from cross-laminated timber (CLT) and will even produce its own energy from a combined heat and power (CHP) plant room.

That’s neat, and  is exactly what Newcastle United should be doing – improving ourr facilities to make them world-class.

Let’s hope we are still in the Premier League in early 2016, when the site is due to be completed.

Wow, sparing no expense if they can put a decent tram in! 🙂

I am so glad to see that the blog has returned to rude health and the fighting is back under way. The effects of all those long, considered and articulate posts were becoming positively narcoleptic.

You failed to answer my question.

Is he wrong in what he says regarding southerners not being accepted because of not where their from but what they’ve done whilst at this club?

It doesn’t make his argument any less true just because you have a problem with him.

As I said at the time that’s why I posted it numbnuts.

It could well be the best training facilities in the Championship unless the “Management” get their act together and get the squad playing as a team!!

The media suite will be small all right.

I’m starting to get a little dis chuffed by the pr gurus at nufc sending the odd player out as human shields to deflect criticism right back onto the fans. I’d have more respect if the players just elected to say nothing and do their job playing their way out of the mess.

Ian – yeah weird one about cabaye, if I was feeling conspiratorial I would hazard it was a favour called in through a player currently in the team. In any case I think the playing style and results tell me more truth than an ex player.

Wise claims Ashley doesn’t have to be accountable, I assume because it’s his. The fans, his core customers, would perhaps argue he’s not, that he’s in fact the custodian. The training ground should be cause for optimism, but instead as always, there’s nagging suspicion and doubt.

Is this where the telly money is going, when does work begin, when will it be completed?

Submitting plans, gaining approval…….what does that amount to?

Seems to be alot of support from the players and backing of the manager.

It’s good to see. Aslong as performances and results improve I don’t mind this. Just talking is not enough though.

It’s better than nothing though and atleast they are saying the right things and have it on their brains.

3 points against Leiceter is a must.

Yeah we’ll have the best training ground in the Championship & an empty city centre ground with a for sale sign on it!
But is any one surprised we have been making the headlines for all the wrong reasons & hanging out our dirty washing in public for 20 years plus that I know of.
We will have a centre back & a goalkeeper back from Notts Forrest with a wealth of Championship experience then we can loan them Williamson & Elliott who have loads of experience in the Prem for when they get promotion. Perhaps that was MA s plan when he paid £7M for them & agreed to pay their wages when that money could have been used to buy a free scoring forward.
