There are two pieces of good news this morning on the injury front, and one of them is that Ryan Taylor came successfully through his second comeback game at Benton yesterday, and played 70 minutes at right back for a Newcastle team that beat Burnley 4-1, and Adam Armstrong scored two goals.
Daryl Janmaat – should be fit for Leicester City game
Newcastle will take it very slowly with Ryan, who has been out of the game for over two years with ACL knee injuries, but there’s a possibility we could see him in the first team squad shortly, and certainly before the end of the year.
That’s good news indeed, and the 30 year-old has shown tremendous courage over the last couple of years of heartbreak and frustration.
And news today that Daryl Janmaat’s hamstring injury is not as serious as first believed, and it was a good move that the Dutch international withdrew from the Holland squad as a precaution.
The news is that he has been playing with a tight hamstring for a few games now, but he is said to have an excellent chance of being fit for our next game at home to Leicester City a week on Saturday, when former coach Nigel Pearson returns to Newcastle.
It seems that Newcastle have dealt with Daryl’s injury very well, and withdrew him from the Holland squad to give the hamstring time to heal fully, and not risk him coming back from International duty with the injury worse than when he left Newcastle.
And if Ryan can get himself fit and well again, he could be used either at full-back or out on the wing, and he will give us some threat from those free kicks of his – and it’s interesting yesterday that he almost scored from a free kick – but the goalkeeper made a good save.
So two pieces of good news today. 😀
