It’s been good news on the injury front for Newcastle this week so far, with Daryl Janmaat (hamstring) looking to be available for our next home game against Leicester City a week tomorrow, and Ryan Taylor having played in his second comeback game, and Ryan came through that just fine.
Paul Dummett in action at Swansea
Paul Dummett has a thigh injury and he was not available for the Welsh squad to play their European 2016 qualifiers, but instead has been receiving treatment at the Benton Training ground.
And the 23 year-old looks like he will be available for the home game against Leicester City, which is a massive game for Newcastle and in particular for manager Alan Pardew.
A defeat in that game – a home game we will be expected to win – could signal the end of the road for Pardew after almost four years as manager of Newcastle United.
This is what Alan Pardew has said today about this International break:
“It’s a time where we lose all our big players, and they come back and we’re going to have two days to prepare for a massive game.”
“It’s a big, big chance for us to get our win in the next home game. We’ve got to try and take it.”
We have some important players playing for their countries including Papiss Cisse – who will play for Senegal against Tunisia tonight in an African Cup of Nations qualifier in Dakar.
The last thing we want is to have some of our best players injured over this two week break, since we need them in eight days time for what is shaping up to be a crucial game for the club.
We need a win in that next home game.
