Sir John Hall has come out in the Star today asking for Newcastle fans at the game on Saturday to support the team, and not carry out those protests against the Newcastle owner and Newcastle manager – principally against manager Alan Pardew.
Peter Beardsley – what’s the panic about
And Newcastle coach Peter Beardsley has today said he’s not sure what all the panic is about, because Newcastle have a great owner and a great manager, and after all we are only one win away from getting out of the bottom three.
It’s a pity we weren’t one win away from getting into the top three.
This is what Peter has said today:
“We have a great owner and a great manager.” “So I don’t know what the panic is. I understand it, I get that.”
“But when I look at the job the manager has done, he’s done a great job.” “And I think we should just let him get on with it.”
“I understand what people are like. But they shouldn’t worry.” “At the end of the day we are one win away from getting out of the bottom three.”
The panic is that we are 3rd bottom of the Premier league after seven games, after having an absolutely terrible time of it in the second half of last season, and the very last thing we want this season is another fight against relegation.
If we cannot get the win on Saturday, then owner Mike Ashley will have to weigh up the advantages of keeping Alan Pardew in the job – where all the players know what is expected of them, and the manager also knows the players.
The alternative is to bring in another manager, maybe David Moyes, who is still available and looking for a good opportunity.
But bringing in a new manager is not always a silver bullet, and the players have to get used to the methods and philosophy of the new manager, and the manager has to get to know the players.
So the best thing for us is to win the game on Saturday against Leicester City – that will give the club a little breathing room.
