Brilliant Gabby Obertan Winner – Video

We’ll try to get a better video up – but this shows the brilliant Gabby Obertan goal that got us all 3 points today and put Newcatsle within one point of four clubs above us – including Sunderland – who were walloped 8-0 at Southampton today.

Here’s some more video of the breakaway and Gabby’s winning goal.

Much needed victory but should have been a lot easier than that !!!

Perez showed some great touches when he came on why can we start with him rather than Colback or Gouffran who offer nothing at all going forward

Leicester only looked good when they brought the pace of Vardy on but if we had have been more positive from the start we would have been out of site before then

We should be able to give Spurs and Liverpool a game both have not been that impressive but god knows what team we will play with to be honest

On the plus side we did defend better as a unit will be interesting to see how we play next game

    dummett/sissoko/ober/cisse/colback deserve to stay.

    anita/hairdryer/goofy deserve to be dropped

untill the goal we was by far the better team after the goal then arguable they was.

perez did good and was very direct but we are missing that strong no9.

must praise cisse though as he’s hardly been offside this season.

We were not poor today. This team now will kill in the next games(whatever the opponent is).Just Remy Cabella in the middle and the team is near the perfect.

I lost count of the amount of times Leicester got in on goal but fluffed their chances.

Those 3 points are gold dust at the moment, but this isn’t about today, this is about where we finish after 38 games.

How many games do you think we can win this season…. nothing I saw today has convinced me that we are out of the relegation battle.

I see a side that will struggle to get 1 win in every 3 games.

1 win in 3 games would be a drastic improvement on current form btw.

30 games to go and the margins are already very tight.

    @manxpie

I thought he was great as well apart from one near the end him and Janmaat fell asleep that nearly resulted in a chance but other than he good nearly scored as well !

Also I thought our set pieces were very varied today going to different targets with pace why do we not play fast balls in like that when Willamson is on the pitch as he would win most of them in the air rather than floating them in?

Was Williamson dropped ? Also no Sammy on the bench was he injured ??

It would just be Pardews luck that we go on a run unbeaten now Gouffran still needs to be dropped but It will never happen

Leicester were shocking today, the fact we only just won today is terrible. Now, having said that, we could, and SHOULD, have scored at least four goals if, col and cisse took there chances. If i remember correctly im sure leicester only had 2 proper chances, but that was because they were poor.

Even though our overall play wasnt entertaining and dire a lot of the time, there were a few posatives:

Our counter attacking play was very good.
Krul was alert when had to be.
Cisse getting into good positions and being found (2nd half).
We also had some good performances with the likes of obertan, perez and even taylor playing well.
They were also negatives like most of the first half, our passing was abysmal and we hoofed it up too much. Krul’s distribution is absolutely shocking.

Am i happy with how we played overall ? No, but i was happy with a few players and the win. All be it it does save pardew his job.

“When it comes to playing football, movement on the field and attacking, I am close to Johan Cruyff’s philosophy,”

De Boer himself gave a short summary of what his (and Ajax’s) philosophy is like: “Defending starts with the forwards. When we lose the ball, we don’t stop playing. We start to press the opponent in order to get the ball back as quickly as possible. Press left, right, from in front, from behind, all over. That’s what I say to my players”. He continues: “Saving energy is something you do when you have the ball, not when you don’t have it. When you have the ball, play it calmly around, take a breather and then start with a new attack.”

“Football is a team sport,” De Boer said. “With (only) a great striker you don’t become champion, you do it all together. Our strength is that we are not dependent on one person.”

    ————

All De Boer quotes. Common sense, thoughtful and team based, not defending and hoping something comes off from one of the forwards and capitulating when Remy is not there.

how come you dont post them stats every day in every post ?

it took a few months for pardew to get a number 2 let alone a coaching team!

but carry on with ya campaign witch i feel is laughable especially when as much effort and money could have been directed at the owner 10 fold especially with his dodgy company that is plastered all over the stadium and that every fan can get behind!

pardew has 2 weeks to set up for leicester game…his game plan was poor. he clearly dosnt no what formation to use…4-5-1 is brutal for us. first half all we did was hoof it up to obertan on the right. i dont see how we are going to beat teams at all this year..especially away from home

    manxpie
true mate, taylor deserves credit. i think youll admit he is inconsistant tho. i think the cb partnership needed changing for sure…willo too slow. taylor was a good choice against pacey leister strikers and now he’ll keep the jersey so its down to him.
