Newcastle To Recall On-Loan Center-Back

Alan Oliver, the former Evening Chronicle journalist, is reporting in the Sunday People that Newcastle will recall Nottingham Forest center-back Jamaal Lascelles in January.

Jamaal Lascelles

Jamaal Lascelles – to join Newcastle in January?

Newcastle did a good deal with Nottingham Forest back in the summer,  when we signed Jamaal Lascelles, 20, and goalkeeper Karl Darlow, 23,  and then loaned them straight back to Forest for the rest of the season.

But then Newcastle allowed fourth center-back Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa to move to Roma on a season long loan on the last day of the transfer window, which means we have just three senior center-backs in the squad, and allowing that move seemed crazy to us at the time.

The People report suggests that Newcastle may loan Steven Taylor to Forest in exchange for Lascelles, but why swap an experienced Premier League player for a 19 year-old who has never played in the Premier League, however promising Jamaal may be.

Steven Taylor played today and had a solid game in place of Mike Williamson in central defense, after Mike was unavailable because of  injury.

This story doesn’t make much sense to us, and if we were to recall a center-back, why wouldn’t we bring back Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa, who has been playing well at Roma on a season long loan.

But one question in all of this,  is whether the loan agreements allow Newcastle to recall the players in January.

What do you think?

Stupid move if true. Unless we buy another experienced centre back during January.

Saylor showed today that whilst he isn’t fantastic he isn’t completely terrible.

It does sort of make sense, then again it was ashley himself who decided to appoint dennis wise.

Also when you think of how much slavery is happening in them poor countries which make him the things for his shops and also the staff at his shop being paid awful wages.

We also did have a great chance to forget about that bad period altogether and get the friendship restored having just finished 5th place but instead he decided to only spend money on 1 player but spend lots of money once we were in danger of relegation.

…recall him, keep Saylor, recall MYM let Colo go to San Lorenzo

Haha I am busy arguing that our managers job is better than that of Palace or Hull then u throw in that Moyes (who is meant to be our no 1 choice to replace Pardew) is enjoying the view at Burnley…not sure I can deal with anymore

Exactly, Ashley was at fault but my thinking was maybe he didn’t realise just how bent wise was and why he was making some of those deals.

And that even if it was Ashley’s mistake it was a genuine mistake, not the calculated poor decisions he makes now.

Also Colback has been disappointing for me the last few games, lots of promise in pre season and the man city game but seems to have lost that now.

If be tempted to have a midfield three of tiote, sissoko and cabella, think it gives is a bit of everything.

Probably thinks the players are from Carrs sunday league and reckons we are just ace at finding these gems that others ignore

I agree on Dyche and Roberto but atleast they have an identity unlike Pardews teams

Id probably have Moyes over Bruce but I would quite happily see Bruce holding up our strip….be better if it was De Boer though 🙁

I don’t think I was any different to a lot of fans when thinking we’d turned a corner after finishing fifth, that summer broke my heart.

S Taylor looked composed on the ball unlike Willo but it’s how he fares against the better teams we will come up against soon
Still not enough service in this 4/5/1 formation

The question i have between this and next weeks game is: will pardew START saylor because i’m convinced he will get the sprit this team needs.

we already seen obatan and sammy both show much better form that the players we expected to be playing now saylor does it.

I don’t think any of us could complain with Willo and STaylor as back up CBs, however as two oof our only three I don’t think it’s acceptable.

Would not surprise me if we are looking at bringing Lasacelles as he is not starting every game for Forest and could probably walk into our team

Also the bit about getting rid of Taylor would just be Ashley all over he has never seemed comfortable with having to pay for 4 centre backs with 2 of them sitting on the bench !!

This would also make sure we did not spend any money on a proper experienced centre back which considering Spurs , Man Utd and Arsenal will probably be looking for one as well means any decent one we will get outbid shame as well cause I have been watching a French guy who looks good for Roma …..

On the manager subject pretty sure Carr would be advising Ashley all the way with regards to a new manager who could get the best out of continental players so I think we would get someone a little different this time round who knows the next manager might even convince Ashley to splash some cash ?

As I get a feeling that Pardew never properly pushes to get or keep players I think he just takes the shafting every time with minimal complaint

Also looking at transfers available if Pardew is still in charge it would not surprise me if

Lascalles is brought back on loan

    Carroll on loan

Ings from Burnley who is running down his contract and will be available cheap

    Ayew available cheap as well

Probably all for under 10 million outlay and funded by Mbiwa permanent transfer

That was my point earlier with Manxpie who does Ashley trust more Pardew or Carr? If he trust Carr more then he would allow him to pick the next manager considering Ashley hiring decision haven’t been greatest. If he trust Pardew more then should allow Pardew find a different scout.

Seem to recall that Lascelles was named in Newcastle’s Under21group of players but the keeper Darlow wasn’t. Seemed odd for a player on a season long loan? Was it because of Mbwia’s loan out so he could be recalled?
As I understand it club can change squad names in Jan so why put him in in Sept?

Mike Williamson shouldnt play in a NUFC shirt again. When he didnt play, we WON !!! reasons because:

    1) he is slow
    2) he is ageing – soon to be grandpapa
    3) he is a league 2 quality – hence his previous clubs never play him.
    4) he is the no 1 in the list of giving the ball back to the opponent
    5) he never win headers
    6) he is the reason we concede BILLIONS of goals
