Incredible Newcastle Comeback To Win 2-1

It looked all over at half time in this game with Newcastle absolutely flat in the first 45 minutes, and Tottenham had all the play and in fact we didn’t have a shot on target in that first half.

Ayoze Perez – scores great first goal to win the game

At half time Alan Pardew brought on Sammy Ameobi and Remy Cabella and they had almost an instant impact on the game.

Within seven seconds of the kick-off Sammy Ameobi, ran onto the ball down the left wing and scored a magnificent goal to shock Tottenham and shock Newcastle fans too.

And then after 57 minutes a terrific cross from Remy Cabella from the left was headed home by young  Ayoze Perez, as he was challenged by two Spurs defenders, to give Newcastle the lead.

Our lads held out for their second successive league win – and second successive win at White Hart Lane – and it was done without Tiote, Cisse or Mike Williamson too.

Those were the first Premier league goals by either player and both played well.

Just an incredible comeback by Newcastle today when all looked lost – after Adebayor had put Spurs ahead after 18 minutes and the home side had completely dominated the first half.

Incredible comeback by our lads today, and the youngsters saved us with two great goals, and we have moved up to 14th place in the league, just one point behind Spurs.

Yes, it was genius by Pardew.

He set out to have 33% of the ball, and have a few flash moments to win the game.

We were inferior to an out of sorts Spurs, and we got lucky. If you are happy with that, fair play.

I remember a Newcastle that could play football. Not celebrate getting lucky with 33% of the ball.

oh and fair play to S.Taylor – he’s been slagged off by most on here – including myself – he’s done well though last two games as has Collo – bit of time for Willo on the bench

    @ancient

Its possible once we are in a better position in the league. It was a very tough period for us with hostile fans and uncertainty in the club.

It was all about grinding result today and pardew was spot on.

It takes time and wait for our players to come back to seeing much better football. Not anytime soon but be patient.

aincient – what has that got to do with anything – we were by far the better side 2nd half and Spurs were out of ideas other then lump it or shoot from nowhere – Krul didn’t have to make a save which shows how well our defence played – Spurs matched our shots on target (2)
This is a team that has spent over 100 million on players

Sissoko easily man of the match. He was the only one who was really trying to push forward in the first half, basically carried the team. Even got the jealousy of Colback going, so much that he kicked a ball off him the horrible ginger barsteward!

Sadly though, I think Spurs shot themselves in the foot. They bossed the first half and could have been leading 4 or 5 to nowt if they took a breath and stopped shooting from 40 yards.

Had a feeling and still fancied us to get something at half time.
Dreadful first half but a excellent first 25mibs of sexing and played well for rest of half.
Why don’t we put more performances like that in? The first was stinking!

Happy about result things played out to Pardews usual game plan, putting the subs on early changed the game.

Has he turned a corner, na doubt it.

exactly that team we started with today was never going to boss the game with 60% possession, we was away and spurs had a boost from there good win on thursday, its a great win but of course the first half really was bad from us but you gotta hand it to pardew the subs made the difference out the bottom 3 now also

Now we get to deal with the idiots coming on and saying “BUT I WAS RIGHT WE GOT A RESULT”

Very few teams will be as kind to us as Spurs were today, lads. Credit where credit is due, Pardew made some good decisions, but I doubt he thought Sammy would come on and score within 6 seconds, with his first touch of the ball. If we start every game as we did today, we’ll rack up a scoreline we can’t possibly come back from. Let’s keep our feet on the ground, here.

all the credit i give willo last year, well it’s time for me to change because saylor has been doing great in the last two games and them cup games, also saylor has got the geordie in his heart so will get the leadership.

sissoko MOTM-maybe he is another player suited to a more 4-4-2 structure as the CM who runs box to box.

sammy and dummett together are great parnerships on that left side, they’ve known each other for years so that helps and again have geordie in them.

perez being alone not the same sort of player but hopefully we will have cisse or rivere back next week to help, armstrong might be on the bench but two young CF is asking too much when you see the pressure they face.

What a result that was. First half was absolutely dire apart from sissoko who at least tried. Second half was like watching another team! Be it the subs, half-time team talk or the team realising how shite they were. Who knows but the best player on the pitch by a mile was sissoko. The beast of old. My MOTM. Credit to the king for actually making attacking subs. Who’d of thought eh. That’s all I’m giving him.

mindshaft – what has having 33% of the ball got to do with it?

Oh nothing, as we won this game…. it may indicate what the future holds though.

How often does a team that can only get on the ball for a third of the game – produce winning results.

You would expect that those stats from a league 1 side against a Premier League team.

Who would have thought it – 2 completely different teams between 1st half & 2nd half. Can we please banish these first half monstrosities and simply play like we did in 2nd half, for the full 90 mins of every match?

It will make everyone’s life so much better!!!

Impossible to predict this team. Jekyll and Hyde. The second half was very decent after another dross first half. Where does that leave us going forward? No way to know. Liverpool will be desperate for points. I still think the season will be a very rough ride for us overall.

Second half the lads looked really up for this game. Think Pardew put a rocket up their arses!
Sissoko and Ameobi were the stand out players for me. Glad Perez got off the mark and Cabella got his first assist!
Tottenham were always going to have some chances like most teams in this league but the lads dug deep and gave everything. Hopefully we can push on now and get a few more points on the board.

i dout it’ll last too long because knowing what parjew is like we’ll soon see the return of willo and him either going 4-2-3-1 or not having the guts to drop gouffran for sammy and colback once tiote returns.

his team is likely to be

    jam__colo__willo__dum
    _____tiote__colback
    obatan___sis____gouffran
    __________cisse

bench SAMMY, PEREZ, ARRONS SAYLOR, RIV

all or most of them would be in mine whilst the bench itself would have goufran obatan colback and willo

    Sissoko’s best game todate.

Was very impressed with his defensive duties which begs the question should he be playing more defensive position in the future ?

The much maligned Saylor had another good game.
    Cabella still looks light weight.
Full marks to Perez for sticking with it. He never gave up.d
Full marks to Sammy. We look much better with a recognised left winger whether that is Sammy or Aarons.
Full marks to Pardew for making the changes at the right time with the right players.
Not impressed with Anita. Surely Abeid deserves his chance.
