The Players Are Fighting For The Shirt – I’m Proud Of Them

Newcastle had a second massive win in succession at White Hart Lane this afternoon, with two great goals in the second half from youngsters Sammy Ameobi and Ayoze Perez, that was enough to get Newcastle an unlikely 3 points against Spurs today.

The first goal from Sammy was clocked at 6.57 seconds of the second half – that has to be some kind of record, and it was a great pass from Jack Colback.

A second goal from Ayoze Perez on his first Premier League start was enough to give Newcastle all 3 points.

At the end of Alan Pardew’s interview with Sky Sports he was told the second half is being talked of a manager masterpiece.

And Alan was asked if he would take credit for the amazing turnaround in the second half, where Newcastle looked a completely changed side from the first 45 minutes.

Alan Pardew said this in answer to that question:

“At the moment, the Geordie nation does not really think I am good enough so hopefully that has ticked one box that I do know what I am doing.” “The players showed they are fighting for the shirt. That is what our fans want to see”

“I have been here for 701 games now so it is pleasing for me and for my team, because we do a lot stuff that we think is important for the team.¨ “But the players have to carry it out. At the end of the day, you are as good as your players.¨

“We have got some belief in them and they showed they are fighting for the shirt. That is what our fans want to see.” “I am so proud of the players. They gave absolutely everything. There was one or two struggling at the end but it was a real team effort.”

The players played their socks off  in the second half, and started to close down the Spurs players,  who seemed to lose confidence after we had gone 2-1 ahead just before the hour mark.

Moussa Sissoko was great for Newcastle in one of his best displays ever in the final 45 minutes, and he made some surging runs forward, and Newcastle looked so sharp in the second half.

And given our performance in the first half – it was even more of an amazing performance from our lads.

Bottom line – a great win today in London.

    @John Tudor

The premiership is mental this year if we had have beaten Villa and Palace we would have been in the top 4!

I still think we will finish just above the relegation zone think Burnley and QPR are defo down possibly Sunderland to join them !

    santon,
I think we should all be pleased with a win, I didn’t see the game as I’m at work so was spared the first half, I think once we’ve got forty points the fans might start letting Pardew know what they think of him again.

I think I would rather a result against man City mid week than Liverpool to be honest. A cup run would make a nice change

I think we should start letting teams have all the possession let them nick an early goal then hit them on the break and score twice, we’ll soon be romping up the league !

Oh well. Thats Pardews one-per-season managerial epiphany. Glad of 6 points from the last two games but i dont really think anyone is fooled. Pardew is still too negative. Well done everyone though on 3 much needed points today.

Crazy to think we are now just 1 point behind Spurs, 2 behind Everton and 3 behind Man Utd.
After watching the game I have to agree with the pundits and begrudgingly or now we have to give kudos to AP.
Hopefully this will kick on our season.

I for one am delighted for everyone at nufc, even Pardew. Relegation would be a disaster this time round so every point is vital. Even if it means giving credit to mr 4231dew!

I believe in credit where its due. I havnt seen any highlights yet so reserving judgement but by all accounts we really played well 2nd half, and all the pundits are sucking pardew off for it! Glad both sammy and perez scored. Its important that our younger lads perform

yeah mark sammi was on steroids and perez was running all day and scored a great header
but sisko ran the show was tackling plus run after run setting up and was his best game for us imo
and saylor and collo were brilliant with some important blocks

    manx pie,
We should be all happy we got a win not coming on here to slag people off in a told you so manner, we have had a couple of wins, today, an especially good one considering it was away at one of the teams pipped to be high up in the table. Do not let this take away from the fact that Pardew has served up over the last few years some of the most boring and uninspiring football ever seen at SJP while trying his best to break every unwanted record ever set at the club in Premiership years.

Saylor, Sammy and Sissoko had great games today, Spurs had no idea how to cope with our attacks in the second half, first half the old king Eddie cigars were out, second half the excuses were out!

    @mag92

Yeah Saylor is starting to play well again he is more comfortable in possession as well which means we dont really hoof it under pressure just got to hope he can stay fit till January when we hopefully bring in a centre back !!

Sammy needs to play week in week out if he is fit if Obertan can get back in after one good game in the cup then Sammy deserves the left wing slot will Gouffran get dropped though ??

Against Liverpool on Saturday the team should be 4411 :

    Krul
    Janmaat
    Saylor
    Colo
    Haidara
    Sissoko
    Obertan or Gouffran RW
    Sammy LW
    Cabella no 10
    Perez

Cisse and Tiote will not be fit for those games we need pace on the wings with players on their strong foots no cutting in Perez will get goals because he has great movement and can finish

We beat a woeful Leicester and now Spurs who played Europa league midweek.

As Pardew would admit, it’s difficult playing in Europe midweek and performing in the league straight after.

So in that case we should’ve expected points out of the last 2games.

And yes, as a Geordie, Pardew I don’t think you’re good enough.

One of the first times j will happily say Pardew made good sub choices. Let’s hope this gets rid of some of the very negative posters on here for a while at least, it was a great fighting second half and now we need to keep this run of confidence going.
