Newcastle had a second massive win in succession at White Hart Lane this afternoon, with two great goals in the second half from youngsters Sammy Ameobi and Ayoze Perez, that was enough to get Newcastle an unlikely 3 points against Spurs today.
Alan Pardew and John Carver at the final whistle
The first goal from Sammy was clocked at 6.57 seconds of the second half – that has to be some kind of record, and it was a great pass from Jack Colback.
A second goal from Ayoze Perez on his first Premier League start was enough to give Newcastle all 3 points.
At the end of Alan Pardew’s interview with Sky Sports he was told the second half is being talked of a manager masterpiece.
And Alan was asked if he would take credit for the amazing turnaround in the second half, where Newcastle looked a completely changed side from the first 45 minutes.
Alan Pardew said this in answer to that question:
“At the moment, the Geordie nation does not really think I am good enough so hopefully that has ticked one box that I do know what I am doing.” “The players showed they are fighting for the shirt. That is what our fans want to see”
“I have been here for 701 games now so it is pleasing for me and for my team, because we do a lot stuff that we think is important for the team.¨ “But the players have to carry it out. At the end of the day, you are as good as your players.¨
“We have got some belief in them and they showed they are fighting for the shirt. That is what our fans want to see.” “I am so proud of the players. They gave absolutely everything. There was one or two struggling at the end but it was a real team effort.”
The players played their socks off in the second half, and started to close down the Spurs players, who seemed to lose confidence after we had gone 2-1 ahead just before the hour mark.
Mike Ashley – smiling at the end of the game today
Moussa Sissoko was great for Newcastle in one of his best displays ever in the final 45 minutes, and he made some surging runs forward, and Newcastle looked so sharp in the second half.
And given our performance in the first half – it was even more of an amazing performance from our lads.
Bottom line – a great win today in London.
