Newcastle had a second massive win in succession at White Hart Lane this afternoon, with two great goals in the second half from youngsters Sammy Ameobi and Ayoze Perez, that was enough to get Newcastle an unlikely 3 points against Spurs today.
Alan Pardew and John Carver at the final whistle
The first goal from Sammy was clocked at 6.57 seconds of the second half – that has to be some kind of record, and it was a great pass from Jack Colback.
A second goal from Ayoze Perez on his first Premier League start was enough to give Newcastle all 3 points.
At the end of Alan Pardew’s interview with Sky Sports he was told the second half is being talked of a manager masterpiece.
And Alan was asked if he would take credit for the amazing turnaround in the second half, where Newcastle looked a completely changed side from the first 45 minutes.
Alan Pardew said this in answer to that question:
“At the moment, the Geordie nation does not really think I am good enough so hopefully that has ticked one box that I do know what I am doing.” “The players showed they are fighting for the shirt. That is what our fans want to see”
“I have been here for 701 games now so it is pleasing for me and for my team, because we do a lot stuff that we think is important for the team.¨ “But the players have to carry it out. At the end of the day, you are as good as your players.¨
“We have got some belief in them and they showed they are fighting for the shirt. That is what our fans want to see.” “I am so proud of the players. They gave absolutely everything. There was one or two struggling at the end but it was a real team effort.”
The players played their socks off in the second half, and started to close down the Spurs players, who seemed to lose confidence after we had gone 2-1 ahead just before the hour mark.
Mike Ashley – smiling at the end of the game today
Moussa Sissoko was great for Newcastle in one of his best displays ever in the final 45 minutes, and he made some surging runs forward, and Newcastle looked so sharp in the second half.
And given our performance in the first half – it was even more of an amazing performance from our lads.
Bottom line – a great win today in London.

Comment #43I believe in credit where it’s due also and the second half showed our capabilities if we at least try.
The thing that irked me today is the same person “predicting” a 7-0 and calling the team selection sad was the same one praising pardews team selection at the end. And then had the cheek to call me out as not a real supporter for calling them a hypocrite.
I predicted a draw at the start, and was pleasantly surprised that we won. With some very positive half time subs. Also moving Sissoko into his strongest position was an inspired move.
That doesn’t change my feeling that pardew doesn’t deserve to be our manager and should be sacked. For many, many crimes against football and NUFC

Comment #44Completely outplayed in the first half but a great win. For those of you who haven’t watched the game yet, my recommendation is that you fast forward to half time! Two class goals in the second half and a number of good performances. Great to see the two youngsters score. Hopefully back to back wins will give the boys confidence going forward. Gotta say I wasn’t expecting much out of this game and with City and Pool coming up it looked like a bleak couple of weeks ahead. Howay the Lads!

I spend 1000’s of $ every year watching the team attempt to play under Pardew’s negative tactics. As soon as he stops being negative, I will.
1st away win since March.
No excuses there mate, just rank bad management!

Comment #46Well done pardew for the 2nd half could have easily bottled it but had the balls to change things quickly in the 2nd half which resulted in a quick goal.

You’ve got that line up pretty much spot on. Bringing Arma on after 70 minutes.
Need Rolando back soon though. Little sterling in the making.

but saying excuses for the opposition that supposedly wasn’t an excuse when we were there is not right
it was a great win and people who expect an instant performance as you should know are deluded
under this owner any manager hasn’t been able to build a squad let alone a team and that has showed!

I agree m8 .
Would have Aarons in for Ameobi when he gets back up to speed as I’m not sure Sammy can perform for the full 90 minutes .

Comment #56I would love it if we can get Aarons and Sammy on the flanks at the same time I think that would be dynamite to watch with Cisse and Perez sniffing out chances

I’m not supporting catchy at all, I find the bloke’s posts a complete bore, but I think it’s a bit rich you coming on here calling people out with I told you so after two wins. Looking on the BBC website tells you we’ve had 33% possesion, hardly the stuff to elevate Pardew into the good books , we’ve had a good win which takes the pressure off us so that we can go in to the Lpool game with a bit more confidence, don’t go making out that you we’re right all along which is how your posts are coming accross.

Comment #60Good win as we rode our luck. Found myself regularly shouting at TV “pass the ball” even directed at my MOM Sissoko. Is it because we don’t move off the ball well enough ? Sissoko particulaly in 1st half ran into trouble when there was a simple pass on. Do we not play 5 a side in training? With SAmeobi and Cabella on we started to move the ball around better with obvious benefits. 2 players subbed were about right although Colbeck didn’t have much of a game in 1st half either but credit for quick thinking at start of 2cnd half ( or was it a training ground move!?). Janmatt worries me at times and I don’t know what he was doing wandering around 6 yard box for their goal.
Cabelle and Perez have still not toughened up in PL to receive ball with their backs to goal and not go down expecting freekick. Didn’t get one today and consequently conceded possession whilst we were pressing up field. Not good against a Spurs side passing well.
Still without Santon, Tiote, De Jong and Cisse let alone Aarons and Riviere a good result and better to be in an upward spiral than a downward one. Perez looked better with some support from both subs in 2cnd half.
Liverpool in PL next – anyone else wishing Balotelli wasn’t waiting for a goal! We are the perfect team to play next for a player who hasn’t scored , a team without an away win or home win etc. After 2 wins and with some players hopefully back we should be looking for something from game.
