This Could Be Newcastle’s Best Team For Tottenham

We still don’t know who exactly is fit to play this afternoon at Tottenham, but we’ll assume Papiss Cisse, Mike Williamson, Cheick Tiote and Sammy Ameobi are all fit for the important game at White Hart Lane.

Papiss Cisse – assume he can play today

The news earlier in the week was that Mike Williamson, Cheick Tiote, Paul Dummett and Sammy Ameobi would all be fit for the game today, and Papiss Cisse was a surprise injury with his slight knee injury, but we’ll assume he will play this afternoon.

This looks like a strong side  for the Magpies in a 4-2-3-1 formation:

Janmaat Williamson Coloccini (c) Dummett
Colback Tiote
Obertan Sissoko Gouffran
Subs: Elliot Taylor (S) Taylor (R) Anita Cabella Perez Riviere

We’ve put Ryan Taylor  on the bench, and there’s no room for youngsters Massadio Haidara, Mehdi Abeid, Adam Armstrong or Sammy Ameobi, assuming everybody is fit.

What team would you start in London today?

I think Cisse is still only fit enough for the last 20 minutes so Rivere starts and Saylor put in a canny shift last week so he should keep his place

    It’s got to be:

    Janmaat saylor collo haidara
    Cabella Colback tiote obertan
    Riviere cisse

1 up top is sh*te – need to play 2.

Wouldn’t mind Perez starting instead if riviere tbh

For all the criticism of Pardew playing with one striker, you suggest playing Rivier to start – then, then Cisse?

C’mon man, we need two up front unless Pardew decides to play a containing game for a change (!).

It may be prudent just to hit Spurs from the start; they won’t be expecting it.

However, changing styles calls for imagination – where’s Allardyce when he’s needed!

Definately not. Gouffran has been absolute garbage, he hasn’t given us a good game since Cabaye left. Dummet for me doesn’t offer much. I would replace him with Haidara.
    Sammy Ameobi for Gouffran.
Perez for Cisse and Cabella for Sissoko

This allows people to be played in their positions.

Then you have wingers who actually attack and get in behind the defense.

This formation is all about having the right number 10 and to a lesser extent two fast wingers. We have Sissoko who is nothing like a no.10. Gouffran who is not a winger & Squidward who is barely a 100m runner and needs half a pitch of free space to look like a footballer.

We need to play 4-3-3 until DeJong returns, or play Cabella behind striker. Armstrong needs to start getting games before he gives up and stops improving like Campbell did.

    Play 4-3-3
    Janmaat Colo S.Taylor Haidara
    Colback Sissoko Tiote(if fit)
    Obertan Cisse(if fit) Sammy(if fit)
If Tiote, Cisse, Sammy aren’t then Anita, Cabella and Perez should start instead
