Papiss Cisse and Cheick Tiote are both not available for the game at Manchester City tomorrow night, and it’s unlikely that Alan Pardew will play a weakened side, despite Liverpool being the visitors to St. James’ Park on Saturday.
Ayoze Perez – likely to start tomorrow night
Newcastle have taken a hammering in public opinion by saying that the Premier league is all important, and we have fielded weak teams in the past and haven’t had one good cup run since Alan Pardew became manager almost four years ago.
It wouldn’t surprise us if Alan plays almost an unchanged side tomorrow night at the Etihad – with just one or two changes.
Here’s what would be a decent team to face Manchester City – in a 4-3-3 formation:
Krul
Janmaat Taylor (S) Coloccini (c) Haidara
Colback Sissoko Anita
Cabella Perez Ameobi
Subs: Elliot Dummett Vuckic Armstrong Gouffran Ferreyra Obertan
Players who could make the starting line-up include Ryan Taylor – who will probably get a run out in the second half – as will Gabby Obertan – who was withdrawn at half time on Sunday for Sammy Ameobi.
Manchester City will field a strong side, so we think Alan will go for broke in the next two games and try to get two more wins.
The manager doesn’t really have much choice, given our poor start to the season – but things are starting to look up with two good wins in succession. 😀
What would your team be for tomorrow night?
Not many fans think we can win the game tomorrow night – and it’s got to be a win or a loss – because extra time and penalties will be played if necessary.

Comment #3Oh its on 30th October local time here…I was wondering why there is the shrewb Chelsea match on the telly. I hope pardew gives enough match time to sameobi and the other younger players..since we don’t seem to buy marquees anymore, exuberance of youth is something to look up to. I am supporting my local club northeast united (see the connection?) in Indian super league, its filled with local talents and is the youngest team in the league.we don’t hope to win the league but wil take a good ranking for sure…its the next best thing for a fan…hope Joan capdevilla plays well for us.

Comment #8Why field our best side when facing Liverpool on Saturday?! I’ll be travelling over from Norway for that game, so I’m happy with a second string side tomorrow – it’s more important to secure a win on Sat.
Let Elliot, Willo, Haidara, Ferreyra, Obertan, Abeid, Raylor etc have a go, we’ll struggle to get anything from City away anyway.

Comment #10Lol jail. But MOST idiotic? Just too worried I missed the game, mate.
Rangers would be a far better business platform for Ashley. With the ever increasing TV money many global shoppers have their heads turned as we speak. He is selling next year or so definitely.

Comment #12We used to get overrun in midfield even when we played 442 with Tiote and Cabaye in tandem. I think Tiote and Sissoko have the energy between them to do it, but you’d need a number ten who’ll also track back as well as be a threat in the final third, like Beardsley throughout his career. Out of all our players, I think Gouffran is best equipped. Late last year we had Luuk De Jong there, who was woefully short of mobility for the role. His brother looks far better suited, but I’m not sure if he’d offer enough support for the two behind him and this question of how to set up has been dogging Pardew and the squad for far too long.

Comment #18There’s no point blaming Pards for putting a weakened team out tomorrow night, because we haven’t got a strong one. We will be ripped apart but as long as we put up a fight that’s the main thing.

Comment #21With our releatively poor squad -I think King Percy has to concentrate on saturadays game -and therefore the game tomorrow has to be of secondary concern. So he’ll surely have to play a very weakened side.
Normally, a cup run would be good -but with our slow to poor start this season -priority has to be points on the table.

Maybe he should give anyone still a bit shaky a run out and build them asome confidence for Saturday give Armstrong a half and see how he goes. These are the games when we should be experimenting. Not big league games. Try some random combos up front and see if something sparks

Comment #26Raylor instead Anita is better option imo.
Raylor will want to prove that he is back and deserve to be in the team, he will give us 100% for full 90minutes. He is the one who has something to prove which will benefit us.

Comment #30Don’t understand why some of you are pushing for Ryan Taylor to be in the team. The lad has been out for 2 years AND he’ll probably be slower than he was before his 2 very serious injury’s. He really shouldn’t be anywhere near the first team just yet He’s done tremendously well to recover from injury but IMHO needs a fair bit of more time against lesser opposition than the fast & furious PL.

Comment #31I see rangers fans boycotted last night. Just over 13,000 turned up to watch with protests outside the ground too. Fcuk me, he doesn’t even own them outright like he does us and they’re showing us up again.
Owl heed and the sports direct head of brand development Mr leach (how apt) were at ibrox lastnight and both are confirmed as consultants.
Brand development eh. I think that tells anyone who was wondering what his intentions are, exactly what he’s doing and how he views football clubs. A brand.

Yes play that team if you think that we can beat Man City whilst ignoring the fact that all recent attempts have failed and risking the same players for the more important game against Liverpool.

Don’t know whether you have noticed that many Rangers fans like to include the word ‘English’ when mentioning Ashley.
Don’t know what they think is worse Ashley or the fact he is English.
It all sounds like ‘beggars can’t be choosers’.
