Newcastle At Tottenham In 5th Round Of League Cup

Newcastle have been drawn at Tottenham in the 5th round of the Capital One Cup – so it’s yet another tough draw for the Magpies.

Capital One Cup logo

Here is the draw as it has just been made:

Derby v Chelsea
Tottenham v Newcastle
Bournemouth v Liverpool
Sheffield United v Southampton

It’s just a pity we couldn’t have had an easier draw and got say Bournemouth, Sheffield United or Derby at home – but there again we could have drawn Southampton, Liverpool or Chelsea away.

We won on Sunday at White Hart Lane, and if we are going to make the semi-finals we’ll have to do it again in the next round – the quarter finals – the furthest we have been in the competition since Mike Ashley took over the reigns as owner.

One thing we do know it that the team will go back to White Hart Lane with the strong belief that we can again get the job done again.

What do you think?

Oberton MOM for me!! I’m just gobsmacked. I wasn’t a fan of Oberton but I have to eat my own words coz he was absolutely amazing today! With this form he should be playing for France!! I never thought I would say this but he has CLASS written all over him!!

Should have anticipated a new post, thanks edGreat performance, great win. Players effort was fantastic, Raylor got a brilliant ovation from the fans.

Obertan very good but for me man of the match was dummett, great tackling and some quality defending.

Spurs away is winnable, would have liked a home tie.

The players believe in themselves and the manager, that’s become increasingly clear. Pardew perhaps shouldn’t be there after last seasons events, but based on what we are starting to see now, both he and even the owner have earned a reprieve of hostilities.

Aaron’s, Perez, Sammi, Abeid, Haidarra, Cabella, Armstrong, Lascelle foremost among others, added to the established and also still developing EPL quality we already have, you’d have to think almost in spite of itself, Ashley’s gamble can pay off, and wouldn’t that be something.

Ed, you write way to fast mate lol.

Probably the best NUFC performance in 2 years – they were a pleasure to watch and never stopped driving forward.

The worked their balls off, all over the pitch, a genuine team performance with goals that were absolutely class. Raylor has to have a special mention – as Pardew said, its stuff fairy tales are made up of. Delighted.

Spurs games is winnable as they have got a terrible run in on that week, on the 11th europe league game then on 14th away at swansea then on 16th or 17th us, best period for us to face them i reckon.

    re post

when people with an as much hatred of pardew as manager as RH can come out with a post giving credit to pardew for a match like this one today, catchy deserves all he gets and as he didn’t like the win on sunday, he knows himself that he is better off keeping away as every single one of us fans love this result more than anything even RH.

of all the extreme anti prdew it’s only really catchy and LR32 that haven’t been on yet.

We play much better with Williamson out. It also stops Pardew using him as a target man.

great win. Come on the Toon.

Is it just me or does anyone else think, after watching that match, that when Tiote is injured – Abeid should be the replacement partnering Colback in CM – NOT Anita.

Abeid handled himself in there tonight with Fernando and Toure!

He could even challenge Colback for his place when Tiote is fit. Streets ahead of Anita imo.

Still can’t figure out who our best two wingers and strikers are though.

That is what i believe is pardews biggest problem, not having the belief to keep these players out the side.

saylor is showing signs of a CB who derves to stay as CB but i fear he’ll get dropped and willo come in.

he is managing to leave obatan in the starting team and now he should do the same with sammy, gouffran has had a poor time recent weeks, sammy has shown great form in every game he’s played and should certainly be picked ahead of gouffran.

if cabbella begins improving as he did on saturday and arrons continues like he is currently then i can understand selection head aches and dropping players back on the bench but for now willo and gouffran both should be dropped and colback too with tiote and sissoko or abeid as the CM, arrons and obatan as wingers, the CF and No10 sammy and cisse or cabbella.

In the last two years the only teams to beat Man City at home 2-0 are Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Newcastle United!
