Robbie Savage, Gary Lineker and Michael Owen seemed to be in awe of the Newcastle United fighting performance at the Etihad Stadium tonight, and it was a terrific 2-0 win for the Magpies.
Gary Linekar – the best I’ve seen Newcastle play in yonks
Robbie Savage had criticized Alan Pardew some weeks ago when he said that Alan Pardew looked a broken man after the 1-0 loss away to Stoke City.
But this is what Robbie said tonight, and he points out he said Alan still has the dressing room – interesting selective memory Robbie has:
“Newcastle were brilliant tonight!” “I got hammered on here a few weeks ago when I suggested that Alan Pardew still had the dressing room. I’m listening?”
Gary Lineker thought his performance was the bets he has seen the Magpies play in yonks – translated – a very long time:
“That is the best I’ve seen Newcastle play in yonks – amazing what a couple of wins can do.¨ “Newcastle’s Sissoko is the best Sissoko in the business. He is a hell of a player.”
And former Newcastle striker Michael Owen – who seems to be making a name for himself as a sensible pundit had this to say:
“Sissoko is a proper player. And I’m delighted for Ryan Taylor. I can’t begin to explain the hard work and pain he has gone through.”
Ryan is currently leading our Man of the Match poll and it was an amazing performance form the Liverpudlian tonight – Alan Pardew though he was simply brilliant tonight.
Things are continuing to look up for Newcastle but we must beat Liverpool on Saturday to make it four wins in a row.

We both gave some advice to BillsSon yesterday and If you bear that in mind you will realise that you are perhaps not doing yourself any favours right now. You are right at @71 but settling old scores is perhaps a waste of a good night.
There are times when this blog is like the Balkans with neighbour against neighbour looking for vengeance. NUFCJackW isn’t necessarily a poster I have much affinity with but he does have a point about the repetition which if I am to be fair happens on both sides of the camps on here with boring regularity.
C’mon enjoy the night and leave others in their misery 🙂

Referring to something as reptitive and boring = negative
I have nothing against you at all but to say my views are boring regarding the pro pardew/ anti pardew argument is ridiculous. The people who have been been constantly saying ashley is a fat pardew and calling for pardew to be sacked are the true boring, repitative negative type, not me and real fans who are trying to defend the club

I see your point. I don’t beleive discussing the issue of pro pardew / anti pardew problem is boring. I beleive it is a fundamental issue of the club that has been papered over becuse of the win tonight. It will return the next time we lose a gane
I never intended this to turn into a debate, we should all be happy we won tonight, but the anti regime mob have had too much freedom on this blog, yet when the pro pardew team are correct for once, suddenly we are repitativeand boring even though we rarely get the oppurtuity to do so
I don’t enjoy gloating but tonight im probs taking it too far admitadelly

Comment #90pieman – plenty people on here use the expression crowing – if tyou are so interested in the origins of this word on the blog -check it out yourself instead of asking me about it.
This is a purile exchange – you should be celebrating our win -not haranging other posters in order to get a ruck going like you normally do.
And at that I’m off.

You’re right, i think your posts are well documented, but that doesnt make them fun to read, they are still repetitive. But so are everyones. Thats my point. This Anti-Pardew Pro-Pardew debate has gone on for far too long. I think everyone has covered ervery single possible angle, therefore, everyone should learn to settle there differences, agree to disagree and move on. Due to this debate, certain names have been targeted. Bills, Catchy…. To name a few. Which isnt fair. Lets just leave this debate behind us and suddenly you will find that this blog becomes a much better place. ( i dont think i have typed anything as corny as this in my life but oh well).

You are right the Pardew debate has been fundamental to the blog for at least 2014 and yes it will return when we lose again. That is because the very bloggers you are baiting will look to get their own back then. Why not continue to make your points without calling individuals out. Rise above it.
Many of the points you make are reasonable and do not need to be reinforced with name calling. Yes I know that you are responding to provocation but you are giving them what they want.
As I posted earlier I and clearly you can enjoy tonight to it’s fullest extent. Feel sad for those purists that are anti-regime and can only really celebrate the losses. Yes I know 2014 has brought many of them but at least the tide is put for awhile

Comment #99when i made posts at neggers it was meant to be just a bit of stick to the two neggers i consider anti positives LR32 and catchy.
it seems as though it’s got out of hand.
seeing this tells me their is a lot less real toon fans on here than i thought, come on a massive victory against one of the league title contenders, surely any toon fan would put their anti pardew things to one side and enjoy this victory.
if you still want a manager more than anything well my advice to you is start hoping for losses join the catchy and LR32 train, otherwise get a life.
i myself don’t give a sh1t who the manager is i just want to see this team given the support they derserve because each and everyone of them INCLUDING PARDEW himself are giving us what might be our first cup in 56 years.
if we did win that league cup, pardews past will be history as far as i’m concern and instead he will be listed along side KK and bobby robson.

Comment #100so if you don’t like historic posts so much why the hell are you wanting me to locate an old post. There is no logic in that save for causing a ruck/argument -just for that sole purpose. Right I’m off -please go and pester/bore someone else or like I’ve previously said tonight concentrate on the win tonight instead of arguing about trivia.

I understand the debates are boring. I too, feel this way. I can’t believe we are discussing this rather than the victory against city tonight which was incredible
A lot of bloggers on here annoy me just with thier views regardless of whether we win or not

Comment #107Incredible result and a spirited display. OK we gave up all the possession but that you must do vs that lot. We actually had more clear cut chances last night.
AP, yes I am a critic but credit to you first! Spot on.
Abeid, you can easily challenge for first 11. Go bang on his door, tell him I said so 😉 Gave you MOM
Obertan, yes I am your biggest critic, but congratulations. Well played.
Siss, you toureed Toure! (Whatever that means).
Raylor, yes I am your biggest critic, but congratulations. Well played.
Honourable mention to all who played. Sami clearly needs a run, perhaps 45′ per game. Same with Abeid. We do need to rotate, in order to give these people who never play some playing time.

Comment #110I woke up to a very unexpected surprise when I seen the result.I have just watched a replay of the game & I have to say we played very well The team were much more organised & actually looked like they knew their jobs for a change.Plenty of effort, energy, pace and desire all a round the pitch. After being critical of Pardew over his set up/tactics etc I’ll take my hat off to him & say that he done everything right last night.I thought all the players wanted the ball & they all had a lot of touches which made for more cohesion that made them look like a team at long last.Well done & long may it go on.

Great performance. Great that it was the youths. Their cb cost more than our whole squad last night.
Obertan was excellent, kept the ball, challenged in the air and made some great runs. If Pards can keep his confidence up he will start scoring or providing in bulk very soon.
Dummet also deserves a highlight. I was worried when I saw him at cb but he read the game excellently and you would never have known he was a full back.
Colo also deserves praise. He’s been getting way too much stick on here recently but his read of the game is up their with the best in the league. He was u against very good attackers that were faster and more physical and he beat them to everything.
Very happy for Taylor too. I admit I was confined when he moved to rb as city where attacking down that side and I thought their pace would kill him. Saved us with that block. He kept the midfield calm.

Comment #112Yup – fair play to the team last night, we looked good – pard’s actually looked s bit shocked that they had followed his game plan.
Clean sheet against jovetic, dzeko and aguero, silva, Nasri is amazing given how many goals we were shipping prior to Leicester game – that’s 1 goal against in 3 games and playing 2 teams expecting to be in or challenging top four.
Obertan seems to be doing a perchino and good to see fans singing his name

Firstly a word of congrats to Mike Ashley (the first I’ve ever uttered). A lot of owners would have got rid of the manager after our poor start to the season. He held his nerve and could be proved very right come the end of the season. Well done MA.
Secondly, congrats to the manager for playing a left back as a central defender. Mbiwa, I hope you were watching. Dummet proved that with determination and application it can work.

Comment #114You have to wonder why our pen wasn’t given either by the ref or the linesman. Abeid was booked for a similar tackle from behind in open play so that should have been the bench mark for awarding a pen and sending their last man off. On another day it might have seriously altered the result, in the same way as Sissokos goal was disallowed at SJP previously. Just looks like the likes of City, Chelsea and Arsenal players exert too much pressure on refs and they then increase the percentage chances of decisions going there way . but the FA will do FA anyway. Will last nights ref be demoted for even a game, doubt it.
