Abeid, Obertan, Ameobi, Cisse All Start – Aarons On Bench

nufc emblemLiverpool_FC.svg

Alan Pardew has just named his team to play Liverpool today, with the kick-off being in less than an hour, and Mehdi Abeid makes his first start for Newcastle in the Premier League.

Teams:

Newcastle(4-3-3): Tim Krul; Daryl Janmaat, Steven Taylor, Fabricio Coloccini (c), Paul Dummett; Moussa Sissoko, Mehdi Abeid, Jack Colback; Gabriel Obertan, Papiss Cisse, Sammy Ameobi
Substitutes: Rob Elliot, Massadio Haidara, Ryan Taylor, Rolando Aarons, Remy Cabella, Yoan Gouffran, Ayoze Perez

Liverpool (4-2-3-1): Simon Mignolet; Glen Johnson, Dejan Lovren, Martin Skrtel, Alberto Moreno; Joe Allen, Steven Gerrard (c); Jordan Henderson, Philippe Coutinho, Raheem Sterling; Mario Balotelli
Substitutes: Brad Jones, Javi Manquillo, Kolo Toure, Emre Can, Adam Lallana, Fabio Borin, Rickie Lambert

Referee: Andre Marriner (West Midlands)

There’s still no Cheick Tiote – but Papiss Cisse is back and Mehdi gets the nod over Vurnon Anita,  who isn’t even on the bench today – so he may have picked up an injury.

Abeid had an excellent performance on Wednesday night at Manchester City,  and this is a great chance for him to show what he can do for Newcastle against another top English side.

Rolando Aarons doesn’t get the start we had hoped for but is on the bench, as are Rob Elliot, Massadio Haidara, Ryan Taylor, Remy Cabella, Yoan Gouffran and, Ayoze Perez.

Gouffran has lost his place – and it’s fitting that Ameobi and Obertan are the two wingers – since they have posed a threat for Newcastle in the last couple of games.

In the team we had we had Cheick in midfield and Aarons starting up front in place of Sammy, but other than that its the same formation – and Alan is playing the ben in form.

The Newcastle manager also has lots of options from the bench today.

Half of the fans think Newcastle can win this game today.

Pardew finally picking players on merit.

Would have liked to see Cabella start but I reckon him, Perez & Aarons will probably feature at some point.

Strongest bench all year? Would have liked to see Perez but Cisse is ideal for this game. We can now put on 3 good players to change the game if needed now as well. I reckon Aarons for Ameobi,
Perez for Cisse and either Cabella for Obertan or Taylor for Abeid.

I don’t believe it! He’s dropped the undroppable Goofy!!

Great to see Abied get the nod, fully deserves it
Guess Aarons wasn’t quiet fit enough, hopefully get a good half hour in the 2nd half

Only change I’d make is Cabella for Colback, imo Colbacks been poor recently and I’d put Sissoko in his role and let Cabella play as a #10

Feels strange looking forward to a game again…..remember that Cabaye rocket against the bindippers? That’s gonna be moussa today!

For a change, team selection points towards attacking initiatives. Hopeful of an exciting game and win of course.

A very good bench. Wouldnt mind seeing their starting line up

expat – agree with resting Goufran and giving Abeid a start. I really hope we can whop this lot – might keep some of their friends in the press quiet for a while.

Big mistake with Sammy Ameobi. He needs to be benched and play on another position.Wingers cross the balls rarely running scoring goals like Ameobi did.He is mini Peter Crouch. And it needs to be treated like that.He is poor winger. But can be good striker.

This line up certainly points towards some progression, attacking formation, attacking players etc

But if we go 1-0 down and he immediately brings on Goofy he can forget the last few weeks and f**k reet off! 😉

Dropping Goofy is a big step in the right direction.

Liverpool formation is hard to pick as they have 3 defensive midfielders in there if you count Gerrard as one.

Everybody give their maximum but at the winger position Liverpool will kill him with his height and need for space. For me he is not a winger and in this team I think he is the weakest link. That is my opinion. If not benched he will kiss the bench in the second half. For me the team that won with Tottenham is not reasonable to change.Football rule.

Good line up, hopefully abeid has a great game and gives us more competition in the middle.

Where’s riviere! And us ferrerya just simply rubbish, thought he might offer something different up front.

Gouffran has been wasted. He has been given the Gutierrez treatment. Played in every game until he is ran into the ground, now completely dropped.

There is a thing called ‘rotating players’ to keep them fresh.

Cabella, Perez and Aarons to come in if we need to push forward – looks like quite the dangerous bench! I like the lineup but if we’re level at 60+ minutes a defensive sub at home will definitely dampen my optimism. HWTL.

Cant argue with the team, think Aarons would have been ahead of Sammy if he was fit but just back from a hamstring injury so makes sense to be cautious especially when we have a replacement.

Lets go then, god i hope we beat the bindippers.

Sissoko to run past gerrard 300 times hopefully!!

    Ancient –

Agree completely about Gouffran. I don’t know if he’ll get a chance again if the younger players are coming through, even though he should be getting starts now and then. That whole ‘rotating players’ thing never was part of Pardew’s vocabulary and I don’t think it’s going to show up there all of a sudden.

Quite happy with line up, but concerned about colo and Saylor together against Balotelli Sterling and Coutuniho due to their limited movement and pace.
I said a draw and 0-0 I’ll go 2-2 after seeing line up.

IMO the game will be decided by our CBS as they can keep a clean sheet as easily as conceding 6, if they play well we’ll nick it.

I remember everything. He was on the bench. And now is in the starting 11.Starting place is not the same with the bench. There is huge difference. Some players were born for the bench like Sylvain Wiltord.
