Our Man Of The Match Can Become A Huge Star

With close to 2,000 votes already in,  22 year-old Mehdi Abeid will be our Man of the Match for yesterday’s 1-0 win over Liverpool,  and he has 41% of the vote and the Algerian born in France had simply a great game for Newcastle in central midfield,  in a game which was his very first start in the Premier League.

Mehdi Abeid in action yesterday

Mehdi also had a very good game on Wednesday night in Manchester, and he was third in the voting,  behind only the great Ryan Taylor and Gabby Obertan, who unfortunately was injured yesterday in the first half.

It was a great story to see Ryan Taylor come back and play so well in his first appearance for Newcastle for 26 months.

And Mehdi Abeid is quite a story too, because his career seemed over when he was sent out on loan to St. Johnstone in January of last year.

But a year on loan at Panathinaikos revitalized his career, and he was given another chance by Alan Pardew in the summer and he has four appearances this season for the first team.

But his form over the last two games against top opposition has been little short of astonishing, and he was so strong yesterday and looked a very good player for Newcastle.

Mehdi arrived three years ago last summer from Lens as a free agent , and with performances like yesterday he can become an excellent player for us at and a full Intenrationakl for Aklgeria too

Moussa Sissoko is second in our voting,  and he is showing some of his very best form over the last few games, which have been crucial to Newcastle’s revival this season,  and captain Coloccini had another very steady game at the back and is third in the voting.

Colo sometimes takes criticism from the fans,  but over the last few games he has been steady as a rock at the back.

In fact there were good performances all over the field for Newcastle yesterday, and we had a number of youngsters playing – so it was great to see how well Newcastle played against one of the top sides in the country.

And of course our forth win in a row after a rocky start to the season.

Sorry but Colo has to go. Yeah he has done alright but like Staylor and Willo just a mistake waiting. When fit Santon at CB got some pace and can make a tackle, just needs someone to head the ball for him. Whatever happened to Douglas, we had him coming until Jokeinhere cocked it up?

Mehdi fully deserves the praise and a starting place in midfield. He has the physical presence, which Anita doesn’t have, the engine, the pace and the skill on the ball to become a regular in our midfield.

Clearly going out on a seasons loan and getting regular first team playing experience has benefited him and Dummitt as both have returned far better players than before and with greater confidence.

Hopefully others can follow but it doesn’t always work eg Ferguson and Campbell.

    @2:

My god what are you way behind the times? Nobody has even heard of Douglas in UK or in Europe for the last 2 years at least ! Vanished into obscurity i believe !

It is the typical trend of this Blog to still be negative even if we are on a good run after a Bad start to the Season which we have had !

Some people i believe would be better off going down the Road to The Stadium of Shite to watch their Football !

We need two players to complete a dam good team, and that would be a Strong Centre Back, Virgil van Dijck from Celtic or Sebastion Jung from FC Wolfsberg or maybe both !

And possibly a Striker with Prem experience, Defoe would be a good option while Perez and Riviere are gaining playing time and developing their Striking talents !

What we don,t need are people going backwards with regards to Transfers and being totally Negative after Winning Four games in a Row ! You may say, that they have been lucky and Pardew should still be sacked and everyone is entitled to comment and say what they want on here?

But some are just blinded by their hate of Pardew and Ashley ! I don,t hate them, but tolerate them because of my support for the Club !

    Nuf Said !

@Newexpat I’m not saying we get Douglas i just want a powerful CB who i can trust. I trust rest of the team
The manager now starting to rebuild oit trust but is only been 4 games after 18 month of garbage. That time included Cabaye, Ba, and Remy.

I can live with a defeat, it is the manner we have lost. Now atleast we are going for it and trying.

And i would also let Tiote go as got cover. Just maybe not Arsenal as he would be perfect for them.

I see Fraser Forster got another clean sheet. So far in his career he has set clean sheet records for Norwich, Celtic, and now looks to be doing the same at Southampton. In a team that lost three of their best defenders at the start of the season. He’ll be going for £30m at the end of the season.

    Accy :

Lets just hope that if Tiote has to go, he goes for the right price and not before a replacement is brought in !

But, if you look at what happened with Cabaye last Jan then i fear the worst !

AccyToo – seriously? There have been games when slagging of Coli has been understandable – but that is just daft. The guy has been imperious over the past few games. Right place right time, strong and fly in charge.

I just want some CB’s i can trust. 4 games playing well don’t cover the rest of the time. Form is temporary class is permanent unfortunately. He been helped by the whole team attacking and defending right. I just never been convinced by Colo sorry.

We sign 2 quality CB’s or a CB and a RB and let Colo go back to Argentine on a free.

Instead of buying more players, its best to integrate our youth into the team. We still have Street, Satka and Curtis Good who should be gradually introduced into the squad to allow us let go of Colo eventually. Dummy played excellently at CB in midweek and Haidara was excellent at LB. We have good young options to fall back to even in the absence of Santon.

The votes in these things are almost always biased towards the sentimental, the good news story etc. Colocini was the best player we had yesterday and one of the best centrebacks we’ve ever had. Paul Dummet also looked great alongside him on Wednesday and had another steady game again against Sterling yesterday.
