Pardew – It’s Massive News For The Squad

Alan Pardew says that Newcastle United will not rush Jonas Gutierrez back too quickly, as the Argentine International is all set to resume his football career  – and he is still contracted to Newcastle through next June.

Jonas Gutierrez – ready to resume his football career

The great news earlier this week was that the Argentine midfielder was declared cancer free, after his successful fight against the disease, which included some very hard to take chemotherapy treatment.

This is what a delighted Alan Pardew had to say at his press conference today about Jonas:

“It’s massive news for the squad because he is a much-loved figure here, and to get the all-clear.¨ “We had a response from his surgeon to say that in about a month’s time, he can cope with professional training, so we are not rushing him in any shape or form.¨

¨Just letting Jonas have some time,  because it’s such an illness that you do need a lot of recovery time for that.¨ “But he’s in great shape.” ¨Colo tells me he is in good form and we are looking forward to seeing him.”

Alan is right what he says because after using all your emotions and energy to fight cancer – it’s the player who has to decide what pace he comes back at – but it will be great to have the 31 year-old Argentine back at Newcastle soon.

Jonas has proved he’s quite a man by the way he has fought and won his battle against cancer – it takes a lot of energy and a lot of mental strength to accomplish that.

He’s been just fantastic.

I once knocked Rotonda for blaming Pardew over selecting HBA for that night in Russia as I said surely he listened to his medical staff. He astounded me when he said that he’d chosen Cisse against his medical staffs wishes, all well and good Cisse got the two goals but he could have also quite easily have broken down. Science is against him winning an FA cup but he knows better than medical science it appears.

in a way these next 4 games are more important the the 4 before as these are more winnable
we have had a great last month but for me with these being the winnable ones he should have been bought back a slower and not risked

Cannot see Jonas playing properly for us again but it would be great to see him in a black n’ white for one last time. Stayed when we went down. Classy fella

The poor lad has had chemotherapy and feared for his life,so playing football in the premier league will be the least of his problems!

    MATCH PREVIEW FROM THE GUARDIAN:
Newcastle are merrily vaulting up the league on the back of three successive wins (plus another in the Capital One Cup), earning more points in a fortnight than they had from the previous 15 games over nearly seven months.
    SAYS QUITE A LOT!
Alan Pardew considers West Brom “the hardest-working team in the Premier League”, but the home side are without the suspended Craig Gardner. Simon Burnton
AM I RIGHT IN SAYING THE READING TEAM HAD THIS ON THEIR TRAINING SHIRTS WHEN AP WAS IN CHARGE? (minus the Premier League)

    Carl,
Not taking anything away from Jonas as despite his not so great performances over the last few seasons still one of my favourite players, but this thing which applauds those that stayed on in the CC is bulls hit, Mashers tried to sell the big earners and those that he couldn’t stayed because they couldn’t get a better pay packet elsewhere.

Your not the first to have this trouble with my posts.

    # last three matches & 9 points gained = the previous 15 games

    # a sense of deja vu about the “hardest working team” quote, I think it was previously attributed to one of Pardews own teams by himself.

meh cisse’s comeback was arguably a turning point ! before that we were rock bottom on confidence and couldnt score for toffee so arguably him coming on when not fully fit has done wonders for all our players moral esp arma/perez !

sometimes it works sometime it doesnt but with siem out i dont see how pards has any other option at the time tbh ! now he does with perez able to score and arma in good form also and goals from midfield so he can make sure cisse is 100% fit ! but saying that i wonder how many fans will be calling pards for not playing him if we lose ?

i’d go with river and cabella either side of perez in a front 3 if it was my choice with sammy taking either river or cabella’s place in second half.

ye agree although he’s now got leave way it seems from ashley and fans.

funny really as 1 win puts us challenging for europe and 2 games ago it was a relegation battle !

as long as we dont try to defend for 9mins its a huge improvement though and i’m happy perez has got 2 in 2 now i just with him or arma could look more like a no9 and claim that place for themselves.

    No mag,
I’m saying when we got relegated that he tried to offload all the top earners, the ones that stayed were on good money and couldn’t get better elsewhere, even the much loved Damien Duff pledged his allegiance before getting a last minute move to Fulham, Enrique, Collo and Jonas had had less than impressive seasons that year we got relegated, it is well known they didn’t have clauses in their contracts so decided to stay rather than take a pay cut elsewhere.

We’re going to continue to surprise people this season. At times we’ll be shockingly bad, and once in a while we’ll beat a decent team. Overall though we’re still a bottom 10 side, mainly because of lack of support from the owner (he’s spent very little this year considering the increased revenue). The owner is a shocker, the manager is average at best. It makes sense we are 12th with a -4 goal difference.

    G2,
That year he (Ashley) got us relegated he carried out a very clever move, when he realised he couldn’t shift all the top earners or sell us and was stuck with both, he decided to ‘lend’ us the money to keep them, a move that would see a lot of supporters see him as a benefactor and justify his free advertising for SD, it’s unbelievable that three wins in a row can make people think that seven years of shite might come good.

Let’s take a moment to reflect lads. And scratch them if there itchy by the way. We’re at the 10 game mark on 13 points. We’ve got some decent young talent. That’s 1.3 points per game (very snappy on me stats today!). So over 38 games that would give us 51 points or so. Possibly as high as 9th? Hard to say this season as so many teams are struggling. I’m more excited by our cup run. Can you imagine fresh silverware? Opening up the trophy cabinet, blowing out the dust and putting something new in? It would be brilliant.

We go into the Brom game having earned more points in a fortnight than we had from the previous 15 games over nearly seven months. That statistic has put my brain into gridlock.
