Two Top Players Doubtful For Sunday

Alan Pardew has just given his press conference for the West Brom game,. and it looks as if Cheick Tiote will not play in that game on Sunday, so Mehdi Abeid will continue in the side, and Papiss Cisse is still doubtful because of that knee injury of his.

Cheick Tiote wednesday-3

Cheick Tiote – will not play on Sunday

Cheick hasn’t played since he injured himself in the warm up  against Leicester City back on 18th October, almost three weeks ago, and it could also mean that Cisse may not make the 18 man squad for West Brom.

So if both players are not fit to play for Newcastle United on Sunday, we wonder if both players will be allowed to go off and (try to) play for their countries in the African Cup of Nations during the International break?

In the last International break Alan Pardew was rightly upset that Cheick Tiote played two full games for Ivory Coast after he had not played for Newcastle. because of injury.

This could even be an excellent ploy by Newcastle to keep them on Tyneside for the next two weeks so they can both get fully fit – and that would be a good move by the club.

Premier League clubs get a little tired of having their half-fit players going away for the International break, and coming back worse off than they were when they left – because they played for their countries,  and made the injury  worse.

If both players are not in the 18 man squad for the West Brom game, there’s just no way they should be allowed to play for their countries in the next two weeks.

The disaster scenario for Newcastle would be if they both go away and both play, and end up making their injuries worse, and they then cannot play for Newcastle for a number of weeks. 🙁

What do you think?

Surely if you are not fit to play for your club for a number of weeks, then there is no way you can suddenly be fit for your country. Presumably NUFC should be notifying the Countries concerned that the players are injured, they have been for a number of weeks and are therefore unable to play.

Perez deserves to play on merit and Tiote needs easing back into the team!

Colback, Sissoko and Abied are a match for any midfield in the premier league!

Mag92 – why cant Tiote “ease” himself back with the reserves, build up his firness without limiting the 1st team through his injury?
Once he has proved his fitness, then he can make the bench, as cover for Abied, who is playing well and doesn’t deserve to be dropped.

Like I said last week Mag92. Your nothing but a wum as nobody in there right mind can go from one extreme to the other in the space of a week after that abysmal run we were on. 3 league wins and suddenly your up his arse? Give over.

I am confident I can name u 10 out 11 players who will start against wba

    Krul
    Janmaat s.taylor colo dummet
    Abeid sissoko colback
    ?? Perez aarons

The right side is a real question for us, b4 da season started who would believe that spot would regularly have obertan name written over it.
It has got 2 be between sammy, cabella, Riviere and goufran

Sammy has looked good 2 me but is not ready to be a starter. Bench is the right place 4 him, he can come off the bench, get experience and score after 7 seconds.

Cabella looks fantastic potential and can’t wait 2 see him when he adjusts to the premiership, unfortunately he’s not ready to be a starter yet either.

Riviere looks favourite to me to start that right side, looked shape last couple of games, but I’m unsure to him abilities to cross a ball or close down. And we know Pardew likes players to track back in this position, so still looks 50/50 between him and goufran.

Goufran has all the right attributes for this position, but is off form, so doesn’t deserve to be starting. If he can put his head down and work hard he can be back regularly, but must prove himself first like so many others in the team. Dummet, two taylors, abeid, obertan, aarons and big willo did last season. Like I said b4 who would have believed obertan would be a regular b4 the season started.

The king has said if they get called up they will not be travelling to play for their respective countries. Also aarons is rated 50-50. He picked up a knock in training apparently.

I reckon he brought him back too early at man city after being out for two months then brought him on earlier than planned against Liverpool and now because he’s not fully up to speed he’d be more sesceptable to picking up niggles. The king even admitted he brought him in to play city against medical advice. Nice one.

    Mag,

Again, Keegan had the balls to face the fans face to face regarding that scenario immediately. Pleaded for patience, and promised it would work itself out. He went on to buy Ferdinand, Shearer and Tino within 2 years.

Pardew went on to blame the fans and press for everything he could.

That’s not changing your mind, that’s being called a troll.

    Place nice children.

Jokes aside can we just not talk about Pardew and talk about the team?

Abeid deserves to stay in the team until we have a proven better option. He’s had 2 great performances.

Remember last year we dropped Mapou out after he was in fine form for a not fully fit Colo.

We did the same with Anita with Tiote when he wasnt up to the same standard.

Eventually Tiote and Colo came back to full fitness but it cant be good for the mentality of the player dropped and also who knows how they could have progressed with growing game time.

I was very excited by Abeid when we signed him. He is not a like for like with Tiote or Colback or Socks. They each offer something different.

Each should be played to suit different games. With Socks perhaps being the only constant as I think he who should not be named is 100% spot on when he says we take him for granted.

He was one of the most creative players in the prem last season and ahead of Cabaye when we lost him but we couldnt see past the dreamboat (not a slight on Cabaye though, he’s wasted at PSG and should have been Arteta’s replacement at Arsenal)

Abeid has to start on Sunday, he has played very well in his last two games and doesnt deserve to be relegated to the bench for anyone. We all saw what happened to MYM when he was unfairly dropped after his two terrific performances against chelsea and spurs to a coloccini who had just returned from argentina. Its not good for the player because they will know that no matter how well they play they will still be dropped. So they wont try as hard and will become inconsistent. Its vital for abeid to start because if he doesnt its most likely going to affect him in a bad way thus halting his progress.

I hope Abeid plays on Sunday – he has earned that right because of his last two appearances -he’s been a bit of a revelation.
I suspect even King Percy cannot drop him for no apparent reason.
