Pardew Admits To Having Thick Skin – Too Tired To Celebrate

At the press conference yesterday for the West Brom game tomorrow, Alan Pardew again looked quite relaxed as he fielded (friendly) questions from the press, and unfortunately the injury news is that Cheick Tiote will not play, and there are doubts about Papiss Cisse and young Rolando Aarons – and of course the impressive Gabby Obertan will be out for a few months – exactly how many remains to be seen.

Alan Pardew – relaxed during press conference

Alan was asked if he had managed to get out on the Toon last Saturday night, after the great win over Liverpool, and then he was asked about the signs being shown by the Geordie fans – and this is what he said:

“No, I was too tired actually in the end. It was nice to see all our fans get about and enjoy a victory.¨

“I think that is very very important for this City, I did have a couple of glasses of wine though, which was nice.”

¨That’s what great football banter is like (talking about the banner – ¨Pardew – Back From The Dead¨) – bringing you up, taking you down, that’s part of the business I thought it was funny.¨

“My skin is about as thick as the coat you have got.¨ “It is pretty thick but I love working at this club, I love working with this group of players.¨

¨They are an honest group and I think they can improve.¨ “That is where my focus lies, nowhere else.”

Alan’s right about the thickness of his skin, it’s pretty thick given the amount of criticism he’s had to take all year, following our poor results.

The manager said the team had trained well this week, and they were preparing as best they could for what could be a difficult game tomorrow.

Newcastle will have to match the intensity of West Brom tomorrow – who Alan suggested were the hardest working side in the Premier League under new manager Alan Irvine.

A 5th win on the trot would be absolutely great tomorrow.

That’s what we are hoping for. 😀

Can see Man Utd dropping out of the league. They need to spend another £200m in order to stay up. Burnley, Leicester and Man Utd are down.

Need a bit of help here lads.

I don’t usually go to any games as i live right on the south coast and i’m usually too busy to. But i’m thinking of going to either the west ham game or arsenal game (away), do i HAVE to be a member in order to get tickets? Is it easier to be a member or?
Last time i was a member before but that was back in our first season back in the premier league

Definitely have to be a member after that trouble at an away friendly, I think it’s quite hard to get tickets for away games though, tads will know better as he attends some of the London games

I’m pretty sure you have to have loyalty points for most away games and go on sale to season ticket holders first, then members with loyalty points and then general sale.

Don’t know how this points system works though. Some away games like arsenal require a lot of points and some require minimal or no points.

I think tads sits with the home fans when he goes to away games.

Newcastle United and Glasgow Rangers, in the not to distant future , could end up as the same entity .

Rangers will be kept running in the Champions league Newcastle will be kept running as also rans in the middle of the premier League.

We will feed Rangers with our best players to keep them in the Champs league

Transfers will occur between the 2 clubs and imaginary figures will be paid to Newcastle from Rangers ..the money disappearing with creative accountancy,,thus Newcastle getting nothing but imaginary money, on paper, and loosing our/their best players.

Player Value will also be played down and each individual moving to Rangers will not have had a chance of being sold on the open Market .

This could be the future folks ..Ashley is Capable and has been Culpable ..He’s as Tricky as a box of Monkeys .

    What think ?

Yeah you need to be a member (about 30 odd quid) but it’s not that hard to get tickets for most away games. No loyalty points needed. Just keep an eye on the NUFC site for when the tickets come up.

i get a feeling that this blog could be going to war by this time tomorrow.

the injury suffered to obatan is back enough itself, now we have got arrons and cisse as well so that means we’ll have to go with a forward line of cabbella___perez___sammy, this itself is a fine one but if sammy were to have one of his poor days, cabbella was too desperate for fouls then we are going to have just the gouffran and riveres as the changers because of the key men missing.

if we were at home i’d still want the win but as we are away i’ll take the draw.

Totally agree with you there, with some of our players out, i would be happy with a draw, playing away to west brom is never easy.

Last couple of season we normally be short of forwards because of injuries, the way this season is going it’s going to be our midfielders, and if you add the injuries to the ones that have gone out on loan.

    De jong
    Ben arfa

i would be very happy with a draw.

On another note it just shows how biased the England squad selection is .

Lambert has done nowt all season and still gets a call up whereas Austin has 6 PL goals this season and is overlooked . Even Carrick gets in ahead of Colback and he has been injured, but he plays for Man U so he gets in the team .

Imagine picking players that are on form ? . Probably why England never get anywhere in competitions .

I would think there are a few tabloids who will look at the whole scenario with MA and his dealings.
Its a nice easy story if they can get him in court and drag it out as far as they can.
Its been well documented how MA dont like talking to the media but in court under oath he wont have that luxury.

    Will he.

What’s the chances of us getting the win and all the other games being draws?

toon22…I would guess that Ashley likes to bend the lines somewhat, but I doubt that he actually crosses any legal ones.

Too much to lose and isn’t really in a position where he’d need to take any risks.

As you said, I imagine someone must have looked at it already, he’s not exactly a well loved figure. Maybe the case is just being built as we type…

Tequila…I believe that particular act shall remain long over due.

I think toon22 was more leaning towards the legalities of his other business interests, such as his involvement at Rangers.

Whilst I don’t agree with the way Ashley approaches the business world, or the world in general really, I wouldn’t have thought he’d put himself in such a situation and break the law.

    I’m sure he’s creative however.

Ibiza, not bothered about Rangers, can`t really see how it affects us unless he sells us and commits fully to them in which case it`s a win situation anyway.
Someone suggested earlier he would sell all our best players to Rangers at a knock down price. Not sure what the players would think of that.
I think it was significant he said he was not selling for at least 2 seasons which when you factor in profit from last year and the next 2 would pay the “debt” off.
    Nothing lasts forever
