Alan Pardew – instructing Remy Cabella today

These are two very good interviews after the game – where Alan is trying to keep things balanced and fairly low key.

Here is Alan Pardew’s interview with BBC Sports immediately after the great 2-0 win today at The Hawthorns.

I expect to win against qpr. The club is full of egos. From the owner, steak face and a fair few of the playing staff. There is decent talent, but i reckon the qpr dressing room must be a poisonous place before a game.

tads i think its you who doesn’t know fella

so far AFTER OUR WINS!!!!!!!! this season or last its……….

oh yeah we were lucky (regardless of stats)

or (which really boils my piss) the individual brilliance thats saved pardew!

or the stats proved we were rubbish but we won!

or my favourite “we were lucky coz spurs never had any final balls in the last 3rd or we would be 4-0 down”

and then the same person says we were lucky with a great goal by sammi with a great run and ball which set us up to win the game!

    lucky my arse!!

as i said tads credit where its due and until today the team manager and individuals haven’t had any!!

I think we will beat QPR pretty comfortably the way they play with 2 up front and launching it long works against teams like Liverpool and City who are not used to playing against that but Pardew knows how to play against teams like that we go 433 and outnumber them in the middle and wait on Richard Dunne to score an own goal SIMPLE !!

On the improvements in the defence its almost like he has taken a leaf out of Jose’s book and now our fullbacks defend first (as they should) and sometimes support the attacks earlier in the season and last year the full backs provided the whole width and would get caught out with poor cover as everyone was in the middle

Now with wingers ahead they dont need to go forward and with Colback and Abeid covering the pitch we are not getting caught out anymore even Haidara who used to get caught out all the time looked solid today because of the tactics change

I agree with both you and tads on various points. You are right when you say Pardew and the lads deserve credit for the apparent turnaround. However, the “where are the anti-pardew brigaide” attitude is unfair. Just because we have won 5 in a row does not suddenly put them in the wrong! Pardew lost and drew game after game after game because he REFUSED to alter his system, and if anything, the last few wins using 433 has vindicated that viewpoint. Pardee fors deserve some credit atm, but he still has a LONNNGGGG way to go to prove himself worthy of still being here imo.

I don’t need it, read it at the time, it was much in the same, boring, dog-with-a-bone, “go on” manner

The last FIVE wins, not 4, have on the whole, received great praise to the full team and coaching staff, if course there will always be one who will pick fault and criticise, just as there will always be one who blindly ignores the negatives and criticises concern

But to repeatedly seek out those after a win/loss and proceed to bore them with baseless counters is painstaking

Wenger loses interest when it’s time to shut up shop. I actually agree with bellamy and caragh(phlegm)er when they said tactically arsenal are suspect and physically weak when its time to defend. Wenger out??

    A) agree, but saying that QPR have out in a few very spirited performances of late, but still look canny sh1te on the road, plus Redknapp, for some reason, seems to keep sounding off about NUFC and it’s fans so would love to see us annihilate his band of merry mercenaries!
    B) @7 fully agree

    Tads

I feel sorry for qpr fans, as i have had no reason to dislike qpr in the past. These days there are so many examples of ‘the things that are wrong about football’ involved at the club, that i want to see them bashed into the semi-pro leagues, or at least battered until all the tw@s leave. Especially Melted Candle Features and his incredible accounting dog.

Dont think he has been accepted. He seems to have earned a stay of execution, though. All but the most blinded by hatred fans must accept that both him and the team have been getting things right lately. I still get that feeling he will revert to his 4231 as soon as goofy and co are fit. Hope i am wrong.

Not by along shot for me mate, like i was possibly poorly trying to explain, two swallows don’t make a summer, he still has a monumental amount of work to do to get the fans onside imo, were all happy/relieved to see our form and performances pick up, but we need sustained consistency and some real intent

I freely admit to being one of AP’s fiercest critics but no one can deny it has been an amazing turnaround.

My own take is that given the horrendous long run of bad results, AP was in the last chance saloon and the penny finally dropped to use pace and give the youngsters a go. The rest as they say is history.

For those like Manx to start giving it the big ”I told you so” is quite ridiculous unless you are some kind of incredible mystic and clairvoyant.

These are the same players after all. We are all enjoying and loving the moment, especially the likes of Perez, Aarons, Abeid etc but if you saw this turnaround coming can you please give me next week’s 6 winning lottery numbers !!

    Hi bit,
I pointed out to Ed that mag 92 followed a very similar pattern to the former blog troll hob, bill, eric, count, he definitely isn’t Jeff from Benwell as first thought, Ed said he would monitor his post’s, if he carried on with his pattern of saying people were talking drivel and other general abuse, hopefully we won’t see him until he gets his new ip address.

The change in tactics has worked and the players are improving worth it as they get used to a system that works!

Janmaat was very good today but I also hope those dummett doubters are having less to moan about now, solid alongside Colo and with abeid and colback in front of them the defence seems a lot better.

well for me one of the most pleasing things with this run of winning games is we have lost a player or 2 due to injuries and still managed to carry in winning
dummet coming in at centre back done well again in that position
cabella he has it in to be a very good players goes down a bit easy but showed some good stuff lost the ball a few times
thought amiobi was unlucky when he hit the cross bar early on, was it just me or did he drift in to much

all in all a good showing pards seems to have a little glint in his eye when he talks about perez

would like to Armstrong get on, I think he would benefit from it but I also think he has something to offer

if pards can get bigi back in the fold and in form I might even offer him a well done
