Alan Pardew has just announced the Newcastle side for the game at West Brom today and there’s one or two surprises – no Steven Taylor, Papiss Cisse or Rolando Aarons in the line-up – although Papiss Cisse makes the bench.
Teams:
West Brom (4-4-2): Ben Foster; Andre Wisdom, Craig Dawson, Joleon Lescott, Sebastien Pocognoli; Graham Dorrans, Youssouf Mulumbu, James Morrison, Chris Brunt (c); Victor Anichebe, Saido Berahino
Substitutes: Boaz Myhill, Cristian Gamboa, Gareth McAuley, Chris Baird, Claudio Yacob, Stephane Sessegnon, Georgios Samaras
Newcastle (4-3-3): Tim Krul; Daryl Janmaat, Fabricio Coloccini (c), Paul Dummett, Massadio Haidara; Moussa Sissoko, Mehdi Abeid, Jack Colback; Remy Cabella, Ayoze Perez, Sammy Ameobi
Substitutes: Rob Elliot, Ryan Taylor, Mike Williamson, Vurnon Anita, Yoan Gouffran, Adam Armstrong, Papiss Cisse
Referee: Craig Pawson (South Yorkshire)
Paul Dummett moves to center-back, where he played well at Manchester City, and Massadio Haidara comes back in at left back.
Mike Williamson is back on the bench, so we have to think that Steven Taylor, who has struggled with injury over the last few years at Newcastle. is injured.
Unfortunately, young Rolando Aarons has not recovered from the knock he picked up this week.
But the three players Pardew is playing up front are all quick and skillful, and 17 year-old Adam Armstrong is also on the bench.
Newcastle will have to be near their best for this game, and 87% of fans think we can get something out of this game.

Comment #284Congratulations for the win.But we still possess a lot of weaknesses.WBA is weak team at the moment.Perez saved the game. Now players are maybe more physically prepared than any other team in PL but tiredness can come at any moment. We can’t base on physicality all the time.

Comment #285in comparison to the second half of last season and the very beginning of this season, we are now looking much better with attack than we were back then, could it be that an injury which happened to willo is the key to all this?
We all were saying ourselves that we needed a CB in the summer, mbiwa and colo might both be ok but the trouble with them together is we’ll have very little power.
We decided that it was jammett colo willo and hadaira/dummett being the best defence, as nobody wanted saylor to get game time and not everyone liked dummett, pardew had little choice other than colo willo.
the trouble is willo just hoofs the ball long, he is also very slow, obatan was the only fast player because arrons was injured so we were left doing the defensive structure.
Finally we have managed to see a defence change and i think the CB order now is 1.colo, 2. saylor 3. dummett and 4. willo.
the important thing about it now is the midfield can feel more confident going forward and it will have the pace of sammy, arrons and obatan to assist the defence when needed as well as colback and sissoko.
abied seems to be the one that plays like cabaye and provides the link up between defence and attack.

Comment #286Abeid is better at intercepting and passing etc but Tiote is a better tackler and a bigger presence in DM…I’d like to see Tiote, Abeid and Sissoko as the midfield trio, the fact Abeid was pushed up to the no 10 role for last 10 mins shows he has a lot more to his game, and he got 10 goals for panathanikos last season in a more advanced role.

Comment #287Delighted with this performance and the turnaround in results. Abeid is top drawer, Kets was right about him.

Comment #2897th in the league, 2 points of Champions League. Pity we did not win the games against Villa and Palace.
Is the crisis over now or can we continue to moan about Pardew?
Ayoze. Wow, that is a beauty.
It seems our new Cabaye, the person that drives this team forward, the player that makes everyone else a better player, the guy that never steps down, well, it is Sissoko. Jesus, he gets better by the game.
Please Ashley, do not sell this guy when the 25 million bid comes in in January.

Comment #291Nope. Abeid doesn’t get involved in the wrestling because he doesn’t have to, one nudge and he’s away, genuinely strong, he’s also cleaner and more efficient in the tackle. Tiote goes out of the way to posture and try to needlessly prove his strength, which is grossly over-estimated in his and some fans heads, usually proving to be his downfall. He also dives in to tackles, Abeid is more discreet, clever and doesn’t need to.
If they were films, Tiote would be Armageddon, all explosions and drama with the danger of impending catastrophe, whilst Abeid would be 2001: A Space Odyssey, a perfectly executed, minimalist, subtle piece of art.
