There are reports coming out of Turkey, that Alan Pardew wants to sign Demba Ba, and bring him back to Newcastle.
Demba Ba – while at Newcastle United
Turkish television station NTV Spor is reporting that Pardew wants Demba Ba back at Newcastle in the January transfer window.
Demba Ba is now 29, and spent a great 18 months at Newcastle United from the summer of 2011, until he signed on at Chelsea in January of 2103.
After scoring 29 goals in 58 appearances for Newcastle, he pushed for a move away from Newcastle and joined Chelsea in January of 2013 for the £7M buy-out clause in his contract.
But Ba saw very little playing time when Jose Mourinho came back to Chelsea almost eighteen months ago, and in July he joined Besiktas for £8M, and was given the number 9 shirt.
When he arrived in Turkey he was mobbed by the fans and given a hero’s welcome, and Ba has also been in great goal-scoring form this season, scoring 10 goals in just 14 appearances for Besiktas.
Newcastle are continually being linked with Demba Ba ever since he left us, but we don’t think he would be too keen to return to Newcastle, even if a deal was struck with his current club.
And from the reports we’ve seen in Turkey, the Senegal striker seems happy enough there and is already a huge fan favorite.
When you score 10 goals in your first 14 appearances for a club, the fans tend to like you – a lot. 😀
We be very surprised if there’s much truth in this report.
But we’ve also been wrong before.

Comment #1I could have a bit of fun with those dates Ed, but I’ll leave it with someone else 🙂
So Ba, haven’t kept tabs on his form…but for the right price it would be worth it since he’s a great poacher. But I feel we could do better with Riviere with our play style.

Comment #2Demba Ba, would be a great signing, to push the squad on through the hard part of the season!

Comment #3Makes a change from Andy Carols name but just as unlikely with Ba being 29 and on a few more quid than we’d pay him.

Comment #4I think it’s unlikely and don’t think we need more CF.

Comment #5He’d be another we’d lose to ACON if he signed in Jan.
The state of the ACON is more concerning than Quatar ATM, is it even going to be held?
Just read the article in the Mag and we could lose Abeid Tiote Cisse and there’s calls for Sammy to play for Nigeria.
We could really do with it being cancelled or postponed and with current Ebola situation I think it’s crazy it hasn’t been cancelled. Risking fans players and support staff is ridiculous.

Comment #6i’d jump at the chance of signing ba but i wouldnt play him with cisse ^^
he’s the striker perez/arma/river/campbell/goofy could link with and become better players in doing so while still scoring goals ! where as cisse is just himself and doesnt link with anyone so our young lads have to learn for themselves imo.

Too old. Went from being underrated to overrated very quickly. He’s basically a Darren Bent-type poacher…mostly a liability

Comment #8All the rubbish about his age, Newcastle United, had Shefki Kuqi signed up at age 34, Coloccini is 33 in January, Shola was 32!

Comment #10My only worry with Ba would be that he’d not really have anything to prove if we re-signed him. He’d score some goals but I don’t know if he’d be firing on all cylinders.
On the last article, Dummett’s passion and last ditch shot blocking make him very similar to Steven Taylor, but he already seems to have a more mature head on his shoulders despite his youth and isn’t quite as reckless. Could become essential to us, or he could trail off and end up at a Championship club. I really hope it’s the former!

Comment #13Why do we need another striker when perez is fast becoming a real gem. It would only give him less playing time and take longer for him to develop. Perez is only 20 or 21. Give him couple years and he won’t be far off 20 goals a season.
We have two players who can fit into number 9 position. Cisse and Perez.
We have two players who can fit into the number 10 position. Riviere and de jong.
At the begining of the season we were sayin we needed a cb and striker. Dummet has covered cb and Perez had covered striker. Mashley defies will not buy either.
If anything I think Mashley is more likely to sign a Winger, only cause aarons spending alot of time on the sidelines, sammy and cabella are playing decent, but certainly not firing on all cylinders. And goufran is under performing.
Apart from that I can’t see a single player been signed in January, especially demba Ba, he won’t come back for 100 grand a week as he knows about the lack of ambition Mashley has.

i do agree but also think we need an older striker !
perez and arma maybe even campbell will/should get better the more they get games but i tend to feel arma and perez are not true no9’s not to mention lone strikers in the systems pards plays and there will be a time where they go a good run of not scoring and i have no idea how they will react to it as they will be under pressure from our fans.
cisse is a good striker but he’s not the brightest to teach our youngsters the way to go like ba/drogba/shearer ect could do.

I do agree, perez is not a natural number 9, he come here as a Winger but he’s been a stand out up front. My answer is if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
The only striker I can see returning to nufc is Andy Carroll. Even that is hard to see as fat man won’t break da bank 4 him. Instead wait 4 his contract to run down.

Im not having a go at you but did you ever see demba ba play? Id say without doubt hes best striker thats been at the club since shearer. His all round play is brilliant, id say cisse is more like bent. But he can throw in the spectacular.
Cant see this happening at all though, we wouldnt even up his wages when he was at the club and scoring. Biggest mistake we made recently.

Comment #19I agree Gateshead. U don’t score 10 goals in 14 appearances and be considered a non starter or over rated. But it’s not even worth discussing as he will not return here.

Comment #27id sign him, if we sell cisse.. having 2 30year old strikers in the team (who also play in ANC) is stupid.. but i rate BA way way way more than cisse..so id swap him with cisse in a heartbeat..

who says experience counts for nothing ? raylor is a different class.
callum roberts looks like our next star atm.
bigi is always one step ahead and is def better than the u21 league
satka and gillesphy at cb look steady and calm.
vukic gets in great positions and had great control but ffs he should have had a hatrick of easy chances >.<
campbell is trying hard but isnt looking the player a saw a year or 2 ago as he's looking a little lost.
