He Could Be Newcastle’s Best Player So Far This Season

Moussa Sissoko picked up his 25th cap for France last night in the 1-1 draw at home to Albania and the powerful Newcastle midfielder played for 80 minutes with no news that he picked up any injury – so we assume he is OK.

Moussa has been showing the best form of his career this season, and especially in the last five games where he now has a central roles for Newcastle in midfield, and that could well be his best position at Newcastle.

Ever since he signed on from Toulouse in January of last year for a meager £2M, when he had only 6 full caps for France, he has been an automatic starter at Newcastle, and he is certainly an improved player this season.

And former Newcastle striker Malcolm Macdonald in his column in the Chronicle yesterday,  thinks central midfield is the Frenchman’s best position:

“What I have found really satisfying is the form of Moussa Sissoko. I’ve always thought he has the best ball skills at Newcastle and I include the likes of Remy Cabella.”

“The trouble was, early in the season, the malaise of the team seemed to get through to him and he didn’t exploit his ability to the full.”

“Now playing center midfield rather than wide, he looks as strong as an ox and terrifies defenders. He is also getting into the final third a lot more.”

“For a while, Sissoko looked like he thought crocodiles lived in the penalty area. Not now.”

Moussa is a real powerhouse on the field, and he has so far played 70 games for Newcastle with 7 goals and this season he has made 14 appearances with one goal.

The 25 year-old French International could well be Newcastle’s best player so far this season.

What do you think?

I support this idea of beong truthful on the blog – good idea.
Reyantoon – can you explain the reasonings behind your previous incarnation -ethiotoon -what was the point in constructing your posts in pigeon English with deliberate grammatical errors.
You idea about being truthful is great.

haha it will be the same Game plan man , PARK THE BUS
    don’t you get it ?

The idiot Pardew need to understand that there
are teams doesn’t commit too many errors
they know how to use the possession very very well
and they have the skills in their squads to do that .
so far Pardew is doing nothing smart but parking the bus
the truth and the fact and i say this and i watched all the
League games this season not only once but 3 and 4 times .

We are lucky to get ( some ) of the last few good results
the team still struggles to unlock the organized opposition .
the team still struggles to pass the ball perfectly and create scoring opportunities in the final third .

2 shots on target and 1 goals
3 shots on target and 2 goals
4 shots on target and 2 goal
LUCKY & SOON THE LUCK WILL RUN OUT

The idiot pardew need to create more instead of doing nothing but park the bus
and yes i hate this way of playing so much
it’s for the small less weak teams
    not for a half international team . . . .

    Krul , Janmaat , Dummett , Tiote , Abied , Cisse
Sissoko , Cabella , Elliot , Curtis Good

    and the younger players ( U21 , U19 , U18 )
    Woodman , Armstrong , Perez , Aarons , Ferguson

    I mean really ?
I don’t want to see some QPR or other teams
Like Liverpool come to SJP and enjoy 65% of the
possession while the idiot is parking the bus . . .

imo bigi was a sensation in an under performing team full of injuries and when he stepped in he did great and didnt look out of place ! however we should have had first team players of a bit better quality so he was imo rightly dropped as we needed a better quality player and he needed to improve more before he became an avg regular first team player.

when he did get dropped his head went and he couldnt be bothered for 6 month’s of last season and he only started to pick up and get to his best towards the end of last season so imo not a shock to him not being involved.

this season he’s improving though and i’d expect him to take anitas place in the squad by next season if he does as currently anita is 5th choice maybe even 6th if you include siem as a cm.

Would like to see a diamond formation against QPR, but with strikers positioned as wingers, but cut inside as strikers, like West Ham this season.

    Krul
    Janmaat Saylor Coloccini Haidara
    Abeid
    Sissoko Colback
    Cabella
    Perez Ameobi

Sissoko £2million. You’ve got to smile smugly at that bit of scouting / business. That now looks like a terrific bargain in anyone’s book!! Toon’s very own Viera in the making. Has to be in the middle every time unless we’re short out wide.
