Video – Watch Callum Roberts’ Special Goal Against Eintracht Frankfurt

Here’s a great goal Callum Roberts scored earlier this season and became a bit of a YouTube sensation because of it.

Wow.

It reminds me of a goal I scored in Walker Park back when I was just nine years old – but I think I beat a few more players than Callum did. 😀

Heard they took him off at stoke as a precaution mate but by all accounts he gave a decent showing and Pedro seems to like him so here’s hoping he turns out a good player for us.

Seen him play twice, real flyer and a decent all round game.

Have read bits and pieces online for last few months he’s the one the club are expecting big things from, more so than Aaron’s etc. Ive read they were expecting him to be pushing later in the season but injuries must have pushed that foward.

Do you actually have a opinion you’d like to share or is your whole existence on the blog to dismiss others view and throw one liners with no basis about?

I think it is fair to say that King Percy knows best. An example of this is when King Percy has used his superior knowledge in medicine and sporting injuries, thereby adopting the guise of Doctor Percy, and overruling the clubs medical staff as to whether injured players should start a game or not.
    All Hail King “Doctor” Percy.

If this lad has pace and confidence he WILL be utilized this season at some point, hopefully gets a few minutes on Saturday so we can take a look at him.

Old Alan really is making some decent calls at the minute (long overdue mind) this seems another one to me.

I’d take things you said or presented more seriously if you posted anything longer than one line. Your views on players team squad etc are one line retorts to other posters. Which to many are snide jibes.

I’m not fussed I’m bored with you now can’t be bothered to bite to your name calling which started after my first post.

Find it sad that you and your apprentice can’t see the damadge you’ve done and are doing to the blog.

    Transfer window

I’ve been pondering where I would like to see us strengthen in the transfer window this January so I made a list of our full squad. And selected my top starting 11 this season based on player form.

I then picked out the 7 best unselected players for subs and looked at who was left.

    Best starting XI

    Krul

    Janmaat Coloccini Saylor Dummett

    Tiote Sissoko

    Cabella Dejong Aarons

    Cisse

    Subs: Elliot Left out: Good
    Raylor Santon
    Willo Haidara
    Colback Oberton
    Sameobi Anita
    Abied Gouffy
    Perez Gutierrz
    Facundo
    Riviere
    Vuckic

    So what is missing?

    Defense:

At the start of the season I thought we desperately needed to strengthen at the back.

I didn’t think Saylor or Willo were up to scratch and I was worried about Collo’s fitness.

But so far so good! Pards has them in a good shape, everyone knows there job, we’ve looked solid.

It will be interesting to see how we do without Colo this weekend but I don’t think there is a hole that needs plugging in our defence this year.

Certainly in the summer however I think a long term replacement for Colo needs to be brought in as I can’t see him staying after his contract runs out.

    My choice: van diijt.

    Midfield:

    Defensive: Abied Attacking: Dejong
    Anita Cabella
    Colback Sissoko?
    Tiote

Out wide I think we are fine. Looking at the middle of the park I think we have too many CDM who can break down play but can’t do anything with the ball after.

In my starting XI it was a close call between Abeid and Tiote. I think Anita has potential to come through nicely and Colback offers us an extra dimension with his set plays.

In terms of creative ability, Sissoko lacks finesse, Cabella has potential but is not there yet (I think we will see him grow into the PL in a great way in the next couple of years), so our only effective playmaker is Dejong.

If he’s fit that’s fine but when he’s not (which seems to be a lot of the time) we need an understudy. So I don’t think it would be the end of the world if Tiote were to be moved on and we were to use the money to buy a young CAM playmaker to give our central midfield more balance as a whole unit.

    Strikers:

Perez and Cisse are in form but they worry me. I’m never confident at the start of a game that they’ll score and it always comes as somewhat of a surprise when they do. Having said that with goals coming from midfield as well as up front and Facundo said to be shining with the youngsters I think we should put our faith in what we have and hope they continue to bang in the goals. Nothing needed this January.

    Conclusion:

On the whole I think we have the best balanced squad I can remember having (I’m only 22). There is some great talent who don’t even make my bench – Santon, Obertan, Haidara, Riviere. I don’t know if it was planned or an accident but this can only be a good thing.

I think we will continue to see a 1 in 1 out policy now. There’s no point selling our best player and then getting in two or 3 younger players anymore because we already have great depth in our squad.

I am hoping this means that when it does come to transfers we can start to make more of a statement with who we buy.

We have a solid base now lets push on! HWTL!

Epic post and I was trying to answer your points but it’ll take ages so I’ll sum it up.

I think we need a foward, big strong lad to hold up ball and bring players into game who can play with both Perez and Cisse.
I don’t think Rivierre is that man.

I’d sacrifice Tiote for a acm, I like Tiote in the right formation but he slows us down to much lately when he plays IMO

I think we need a good 26/27yr old CB now. If I could shift any of the 3 we have ATM Id do it ASAP. We have a few promising CB coming through, colo is virtually finished and I wouldn’t want to rely on him to help mould our young CB.

It would be nice to think well get who we need, I hope Santa got my list 🙂

List of players with contracts running out.

Notable names: Ruiz, Samba, Gignac, Ayew, Noble, Gourcuff, Mulumbu, Wickham & Ings. As being players we have been linked with in the past.

I also noticed Carrick who I believe could be convinced to play for us, and would imo be a huge improvement on Tiote.

Tiote is good at what he does, but I prefer to see football, not bumpy cars and hollywood shots.

After saying I’d get a 26/27yr old CB it got me thinking as I did mean a EPL player with expirience of league, I suppose if he was foreign he’d have until end of season to take over from colo fully.

The point I thought about was EPL players, ok we just got Colback on a free apart from that the only one in a while I can think we’ve signed is Obertan.

So wanting a EPL expirienced CB is probably asking to much

while our def is poor were never going to buy a 26 27 year old with prem experience while I agree colo’s career is nearly over he does seem to have a calming effect on them were never gonna sell him his last year I would prefer to see him do more coaching than playing

also when we sell tiote prem experience throughout the team is something we will be a little short of

d & dd. There is no way Dirty Harry would be interested in getting any job north of London. He lives on the south coast and commutes each day to London, he is on record about not moving home.
Additionally, with being in London, he can nip across to the East End to get his jellied eels. I’m sure he’ll be bringing a carton of eels up to SJP tomorrow so both him and King Percy can have a post match munch.
    All hail “King Percy”.
