Newcastle Want To Sign Dutch Wonder Kid In January

There is news in the Mirror today is that Newcastle have been watching 20-year-old PSV midfielder Memphis Depay, who was impressive in the World Cup in Brazil and scored two goals for his country in that tournament.

Memphis Depay – PSV and Holland winger

The PSV youngster already has 13 caps for Holland,  and it’ not surprising there are a number of Premier league clubs already interested in signing the player.

The Mirror is reporting that two of the clubs most interested in Depay are Newcastle United and Everton,  and both had scouts at the game when Holland lost 3-2 to Mexico in Amsterdam, during the last International break.

The news is that Newcastle will try to sign him in January, but that will be very difficult,  because this lad is an excellent player and we think if he’s available then bigger clubs than Newcastle and Everton will be after him.

But there again,  Newcastle are now in 5th place in the Premier League after six wins on the trot, and we could be even higher by the time January rolls around. 😀

The other difficulty with signing Depay in January is that most sensible clubs don’t sell their best players half-way through the season, so we be surprised if PSV would allow their youngster to leave in January.

Depay has played for all the Dutch Youth sides from U15 through U21 – and made his debut for PSV back in April of 2012.

In the last three seasons he has played 97 games for PSV  Eindhoven with 36 goals – not a bad record at all.

What do you think?

If we’re still top six or so in January, then that’s a good time to buy him.

Depay could look at the upper echelons of the Prem table and see us above so-called big clubs like Arsenal, Liverpool, Everton, Sperz!

If the lad’s that good, we should get him before his price increases – just wave however much PSV want in front of their faces, tell him he’d be following in Sir Bobby’s footsteps to a great club. bingo, we get him. Dead easy!

However, we’re in Ashley’s wonderland so whether it’d happens is another matter.

Don’t rule us out for anything in the Dutch or French markets with janmaat krul and de jong here we may tempt him we need another good winger

I think a good thing is colback doing so well this will strengthen pardews case for more British based players and with Richards and ings out of contract end of season would not surprise if we are not looking at getting them signed as well

    Santon

Some very very good British players out there at the minute. No English lads world class like ronaldo, messi, hazard, etc who produce nearly every week but still very good ones to have.

Best bet with English players is to develop them, use the academy to fill out the squad and only buy the top quality you don’t have in the academy from abroad…play enough academy boys in the squad and if you have proper youth scouting and coaching you will unearth talent…just need to trust it

Exactly a good combination of British players with French Spanish and Dutch seems like a dream combo

Although I think Newcastle may dip into Belgian and German leagues soon enough

Would be shell shocked if we get him! He is incredible!!

Only problem is he’s a Left Winger which would leave Aarons starting role in doubt unless he can switch to Right Wing

Unlikely, he’s very good but question is how much we have to pay? I don’t think 10M is enough.

And if we got him. Aaron or Sammy have to go so i don’t think we need any new left winger now..

I would love us to get this Kid ! But i don,t think it will ever happen?

Isaw him play in a Youth tournement when he was 15 and he was a big Talent then !

PSV will want at least 15 Mil for him and his wages will be Sky High !

    A non-starter methinks !

I think that will be an unnecessary buy since we have too many Left-Wingers (Sameobi, Raarons, Callum Roberts). Carol or Ba will be a better (and cheaper) buy
