Alan Pardew has just released the team news and Ryan Taylor comes in for Mehdi Abeid and it’s the team we thought would start with Moussa Sissoko as captain and Williamson in for the injured Coloccini.
As expected Paul Dummett stays at center-half and in comes big Mike Williamson, in what will be a crucial partnership for Newcastle today, and in comes Massadio Haidara at left back for Newcastle.
Remie Streete is on the bench with both Colo and Steven Taylor out injured, and we also see Ferreyra – but still no Manu Riviere – although Anita is fit but only makes the bench.
Papiss Cisse is on the bench after he just arrived back from Africa yesterday from the African Cup of Nations qualifiers, and 17 year-old Adam Armstrong also makes the bench.
Joey Barton captains QPR against his old club – and he could be a handful for Newcastle this afternoon.
Teams:
Newcastle (4-3-3): Tim Krul; Daryl Janmaat, Mike Williamson, Paul Dummett, Massadio Haidara; Moussa Sissoko, Ryan Taylor, Jack Colback; Remy Cabella, Ayoze Perez, Sammy Ameobi
Substitutes: Rob Elliot, Remie Streete, Vurnon Anita, Yoan Gouffran, Adam Armstrong, Papiss Cisse, Facundo Ferreyra
QPR (4-4-2): Robert Green; Nedum Onuhoa, Richard Dunne, Steven Caulker, Yun Suk-Young; Joey Barton (c), Karl Henry, Sandro, Leroy Fer; Charlie Austin, Bobby Zamora
Substitutes: Alex McCarthy, Armand Traore, Mauricio Isla, Jordon Mutch, Junior Hoilett, Niko Kranjcar, Matty Phillips
Referee: Chris Foy (Lancashire)
This could be a tough game for Newcastle, but we have a chance to win it if QPR don’t somehow replicate their home form at St. James Park today – after losing all their five previous league games on the road.

Comment #44yeah RIviere could have a niggling injury that the club havent reported for sure and yeah with Perez on this run of form and Cisse on the bench – there appears to be no issue up front for once

Comment #47Not sure about this onw.
Our central midfield looks weak so i hope they cut it against Barton and co.
Ive lost count how many times we,ve went into a home banker and come unstuck so ile take a draw, especially as we are without so many players.

Comment #48on another note, you can tell things are going well at Newcastle cos the southern journalists havent bothered to ask Joey about his opinions on Ashley and Pardew so they can make a headline leading up to the game

Comment #51Riviere’s a dud, that’s why he’s not getting pitch time. One of the worst finishers I’ve seen. Wild, like Oba Martins, but Martins had a 50/50 strike rate on whether it would end up in row z or break the net, Riviere more like 1 in 100 and that’s being generous.

Comment #55Janmaat in to his stride early 😆
Raylor’s intelligence is underrated. That pass to send Haidara on his way was brilliant and few of our players could manage it. Knew in his head what he was going to do before receiving it, sign of good players – a step ahead.

Comment #56bit harsh calling Rivière a dud. he was decent at Monaco scoring 13 goals in 36 games last season and deserves a chance when it arrives
